    Hybrid Power System Sizing and Design for Commercial Application in Kenya

    Hybrid power system sizing involves determination of local load and energy resources’ conditions as well as availability of generating system components. Each component of the system is preliminarily sized individually using prevailing load, resource and conversion system’s conditions. The Net Present Cost (NPC), Cost of Energy (COE) may be included in determining the configuration of the most optimal system that can meet all the desired power system’s goals. In order to refine the sizing and design process, a simulation software is used to select and size system components that can serve the load effectively. In this study, a Solar PV, Wind and Grid hybrid power system was systematically sized to meet the demand of a commercial consumer, East African School of Aviation (EASA). HOMER software was used to simulate the operation of the proposed HPS. The most suitable HPS was found to consist of Wind generation of an installed capacity of 200 kW, solar PV of 120 kW and the Grid. This system had an NPC of KSh 77,684,050 and a COE of KSh 8.34/kWh

    Population Variability and Heat Bias Prediction in a Tropical Country, Nigeria, From 2006 to 2036

    This research explores population variability and heat bias prediction in a tropical country, Nigeria from 2006 to 2036. Data were generated from the projections of the National Population Commission (NPC) using the population mathematical model for heat bias data.  With national population growth rate of 2.67%, Nigeria recorded heat bias of 60C in 2016, 6.10C in 2026 and 6.20C in 2036 as well as 0.10C decadal variation indicating that it has exceeded the 0.5-0.250C standard comfort threshold. The analytical results show that there is a positive association between population density and heat bias across the states of Nigeria with greater effects in states such as Lagos, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom Ekiti, Rivers, Osun and Ebonyi due to the high concentration of people in their limited land mass. And more of the eastern states of Nigeria will have much effect of the heat bias due to their high population density. It shows that land mass does not have any association with heat bias and will likely be influenced by land modification and atmospheric characteristics. Heat wave could result to death of people; therefore, national planners should implement environmental, health and land-use management strategies with immediate action in order to make Nigeria a safe place to live

    An Experimental Configuration to Probe for Lorentz Symmetry Violation in Electrons Using Trapped Yb+ Ions

    Since extensions of the standard model have been developed that predict violations of local Lorentz invariance (LLI), precision measurement groups have been working to reduce experimental bounds of the associated matrix element. Using an analogue of the Michelson-Morley test with trapped Ca+ ions, the current bound has been set at one part in 1018. However, by instead using Yb+ ions, which have highly stable electronic states for storing quantum information compared to their counterparts and exhibit enhanced effects of LLI breaking asymmetries, we can push the bounds to one part in 1023. In this article, we outline a configuration for such an experiment and offer solutions to experimental concerns. We develop an algorithm for state creation, manipulation, and measurement that minimizes measurement time and transition uncertainty.  We also discuss necessary hardware for trapping and manipulating ions including a vacuum system, a Paul trap and the associated electrode voltage supplies, and an optics system for generating and applying transition pulses. The experiment is specifically designed to utilize the existing ion trap hardware in place at the Richerme lab at Indiana University Bloomington

    This paper describes the hardware of movable Headlight & Foglight system for vehicles. It has been found that the majority of accidents take place due to the invisibility of road at night & in fog. So, it becomes necessary that we get a clear vision during the night & in fog so as to avoid accidents. Therefore, the following research represents the rotation of headlight & foglight with the rotation of wheels. In this system used rack & pinion arrangement which give the drive to the optical axes on which headlight & foglight are mounted so when the links are moved with steering arm that gives predefined motion to headlight and foglight. Hence the light from the Headlight & Foglight focuses properly on the road, also while taking turn the driver coming from the opposite side can easily notice the upcoming vehicle & so the number of accidents is minimized.     Co-Creation of Public Services; Levels of Customers’ Participation

    Customer participation is one of the critical research issues in service management. This study draws on the client participation concept to explore the content and levels of customer participation in public services (Lithuanian elderships). By integrating Unified Service theory, Service Dominant logic, and using a research design with 12 interviews and 600 participating customer surveys, the study confirms the three level customer participation model, identifies four categories of participating customers and shows how sociodemographic characteristics affect customer participation level. Data suggest that public service providers need to pay attention to customer participation management (identification, selection, education and motivation)

    Any powerful treatise comes from qualified enough evidence in Scientific Century 21th. Empirical research can supplement that lack of sufficient evidence to build stronger. There are many topics to discuss how important IPRs (Intellectual Property Rights) or ICs (Intellectual Property Rights Capital) are, but lack of advanced analysis for how separate countable IPRs affect SMEs in detail. We utilize 800 enterprises, which have a real trading record with company A from 1991 to 2017 and have paid tax to government, to analyze above problem through correlations, hypothesis and regression methods. The goal of this research is to supplement existing shortage evidence in details not to argue any questions for any researcher. We hope the outcome of this research can be a worthful and a better reference or guidance for those SMEs, or entrepreneurs, or managers, or government…etc. in the future. We know that power of life comes from the condition of Survival, at the same time, all continuous contribution of SMEs come from the condition of SMEs Survival, too. Here, the major goals of this study are how separate countable IPRs affects the condition of SMEs Survival to support those propositions, what emphasize the importance of IPRs. Finally, we suggest a guideline of IPRs investment priority sequence for those leaders or owners of entrepreneurs, SMEs…etc., who plan to make IPRs investment strategy decision

    Induction of Somatic Embryogenesis from Cocoa Farmer Field Collection of ICT - Peru

    To induce the formation of embryogenic structures from staminodes, in 10 cocoa genotypes (Theobroma cacao L.) from the ICT Collection, the influence of the combination of two growth hormones (2,4 Dichlorophenoxyacetic 2,4 -D and Thidiazuron TDZ) was studied. Floral explants (staminodes), were induced to form calli in a culture medium supplemented with modified DKW mineral salts. At 12 days of implantation in the culture medium, the explants responded to the callus induction with a bulge at the base, covering the explants totally with callus at 40 days of culture. Embryogenic expression was shown at 52 days of culture. The genotypes ICT-2161 and ICT-2142 shows the highest percentage of somatic embryogenesis. Four types of callus, fine crystalline, thick crystalline, semi-compact and compact were observed. In addition, a clear organogenic response was observed when roots were formed from the callus generated

    A Comparative Study of Dust Cleaning Methods for the Solar PV Panels

    The present energy consumption scenario is clearly showing the faster depletion of fossil fuel reserves. On the other hand, energy usage index indicates the state of growth of a country.  The use of renewable energy sources like solar PV, wind and such alternatives has increased in the recent years. Considerable loss in conversion efficiency of solar PV system has been noticed due to non-availability of proper insolation and accumulation of dust particles on the panels or shading. A comparative study of various cleaning methods of solar panels has been done in this article with emphasis on innovative idea of separation of dust by electrostatic precipitator (ESP).  Electrostatic precipitators uses static electricity to remove the dust from the panel by applying energy only to the particular matter being collected and therefore is very efficient in its applications unlike conventional cleaning.  This increases the solar panels insolation absorption ability. The weight sensor continuously monitor the weight of the dust on the panel and Arduino controller gives the command to clean the dust when defined feedback is received from the sensors. Electrostatic precipitators work by ionizing the dust on the surface area of solar panel and forcing dirt particles   towards the electrodes which are like electrical terminals. The first electrode is charged to a very high negative voltage and other to the positive. The positively charged electrode collects the dust particles.  The particles attached to the positively charged plates are expelled or removed periodically to keep the panel dust free either manually or automatically
