But There Was Love
But There Was Love—Shaping the Memory of the Shoah proposes a new paradigm for Shoah remembrance in today’s cultural and political reality. It derives from the four-year workings of a group of researchers and artists in Jerusalem led by Michal Govrin. The group positions the extraordinary Jewish and human struggle in facing dehumanization and extermination as the essence of the Shoah, challenging us with a profound ethical call
Mobilizing Labour for the Global Coffee Market
Coffee has been grown on Java for the commercial market since the early eighteenth century, when the Dutch East India Company began buying from peasant producers in the Priangan highlands. What began as a commercial transaction, however, soon became a system of compulsory production. This book shows how the Dutch East India Company mobilised land and labour, why they turned to force cultivation, and what effects the brutal system they installed had on the economy and society
Trends in Emerging Markets, Globalization, Economic Development, Entrepreneurship and Management Strategies as a Result of Cross-Border Cooperation
As globalization advances, trends and societal shifts influence several economic and socioeconomic aspects. As cross-border cooperation has been increasing across various regions, this leads to market changes, both established and emerging, trading methods and management aspects. As a result, it is crucial to study the negative and positive changes on an economic and social level emanating from this phenomenon. The inter-relationship between international environments, transactions, and cooperation projects can transform economic and socioeconomic conditions, leading to more enabling and sustainable cities, societies, and regions. The results from new and stronger business networks and cluster environments created through cooperation projects, strategies, synergies, and transactions are already reshaping the socioeconomic panorama
Perspektivklärung nach einer Inobhutnahme aus Sicht der Kinder und Jugendlichen
Children and young people have a right to be involved in decisions that have a significant impact on their lives. But what opportunities do they have to participate in the process of clarifying their prospects after leaving care? Based on a qualitative interview study with young people who have already gone through the process of clarifying their prospects; the author analyses how they experienced their participation in the development of further help. In doing so; she shows where there are starting points for qualification and further development of previous practice
Rondas Campesinas en el Peru
Rondas Campesinas in Peru: Reflections from the Province of Huancabamba offers a provocative and unique analysis of the Rondas Campesinas in the Andean, Indigenous, and peasant region of Piura, focusing on their social and ideological formation, as well as their cultural and political identity. The author explores the construction of Indigenous thought in relation to native practices, highlighting how these communities—especially in Huancabamba—have been and continue to be key actors in the resistance and defense of their territories and local knowledge.
Through an interdisciplinary approach that encompasses sociology, social anthropology, geography, and philosophy, the work examines the interactions between the Rondas Campesinas and dominant ideologies, proposing a critical reflection on the social, political, and cultural history of Andean communities. In addition to expanding knowledge about the Rondas Campesinas, this study challenges conventional interpretations of Andean and Indigenous identity in the face of coloniality/modernity and territorial struggles in Latin America.
Ultimately, the book does not present itself as a regionalist text, but rather as a dialogue for the Global South and for those who defend their territories and cultural forms in the face of dominant oppression.
Classical Rhetorical Argumentation for the Rhetorical Critic
This book offers a reassessment of argumentation in classical rhetoric, foregrounding its rational dimension. Moving beyond introductions, it provides insights from Aristotle, Quintilian, and other ancient thinkers while addressing common misconceptions and offering clarifications that are particularly valuable for the rhetorical critic. Adopting a Scandinavian rhetorical perspective, this book argues that classical rhetoric offers enduring tools for both the analysis and the construction of persuasive argumentation. By bridging theory and practice, it demonstrates how classical rhetoric remains highly relevant, while also naturally integrating with analyses that focus on classical concepts such as ethos, pathos, or style – whether through neo‑Aristotelian methods or contemporary approaches rooted in the classical rhetorical tradition. Key concepts are explored in dedicated chapters: the ‘art’ of logos‑based argumentation is reassessed; enthymeme and epicheireme structures are examined; and topoi and staseis are discussed in relation to their later developments. A chapter on the centenary of rhetorical criticism traces its evolution from Herbert Wichelns (1925) to today, proposing a new template for the rhetorical critic. This concise yet comprehensive book will interest intermediate and advanced students, as well as scholars of rhetoric, argumentation, persuasion, speech and writing studies, and communication studies

The variety of the presented works proves that geovisualization is an active research area, which significantly supports geospatial data exploration, analysis, and modeling
Performing Girls and Women
This book charts the broad cultural impact of the medieval and early modern female performer: how she engages with her historical origins in classical drama, works within contemporary cultural and professional networks, and sets the terms for female performance in subsequent historical periods. Moving beyond the archival evidence that establishes that medieval and early modern women and girls performed, it explores how their performances resonated across national boundaries and historical periods, revealing wide patterns of influence and inspiration. This collection of original essays brings together well-established authorities with new and emerging scholars, offering innovative and ground-breaking discussions of medieval dramatic cultures, the Shakespearean stage, professional actresses in Spain and Italy, the performance of music and dance, artistic representations of the female performer, and twentieth- and twenty-first-century adaptations. Ranging from tenth-century Germany to twenty-first-century London, the chapters in this volume offer a new set of paradigms for understanding and interpreting women and girls on stage
