No full textThe open access book set LNCS 15694 + LNCS 15695 constitutes the proceedings of the 34th European Symposium on Programming, ESOP 2025, which was held as part of the International Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software, ETAPS 2025, in Hamilton, Canada, during May 3-8, 2025. The 30 full papers included in the proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 88 submissions. The proceedings also contain two short artifact reports. The papers focus on aspects of programming language research such as programming paradigns and styles; methods and tools to specify and reason about programs and languages; programming language foundations; methods and tools for implementation, concurrency and districution; and applications and emerging topics

Narrative Objects
No full textNarrative Objects is concerned with the conversations that arise when artists, scholars, and museum practitioners come together with historic objects. Its focus is a unique mammoth ivory model of yhyakh – the annual celebration of the Sakha people in the Russian Far East – which has been in the collection of the British Museum since 1867. Almost 150 years later, the model was loaned to the National Arts Museum of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for exhibition and public engagement. As Sakha people revisit past histories and reconstitute cultural knowledge following decades of Soviet rule, this book considers narratives generated by the return of the model which speak to wider concerns in anthropology, material culture studies, and history about how knowledge is both suppressed and engaged with. The book also explores how art can be a focus for cultural pride, how skilled practices are entwined with oral histories, and how historic objects can contribute to wider processes of cultural revival. The chapters draw on fieldwork and museum and archival research in Sakha Sire, Paris and London.
Narrative Objects is particularly relevant to scholars of anthropology and museum studies as well as those with an interest in the subarctic and post-Soviet states

The Sound of Welsh Patagonia
No full textThis book draws on data gathered during eighteen months of ethnographic fieldwork in the Chubut Province of Patagonia, Argentina. It focuses on the formation of Welsh subjectivity through sight and sound, seeking to unpack the multiple and multisensory ways in which identity is constructed in this context. The chapters analyse a series of encounters, in choir rehearsals, the Eisteddfod and in film nights, to consider the usefulness and limitations of theoretical concepts that have been developed and used to theorise the self. This is a book about power, music, tourism and the self. It argues that the creation of Welshness in Y Wladfa was not only explicitly foregrounded in performances for tourists under an imagined Welsh gaze, but also for a Welsh ear, with subjectivities created and re-created through musical encounters. It is the first anthropological monograph of its kind that provides an insight into the significance of music in the Welsh Patagonian context.

No full textIn diesem Open-Access-Buch wird untersucht, welche Muster bzw. Veränderungen der selbstinitiierten Teilnahme an beruflicher Weiterbildung sich im Trend identifizieren lassen. Bisherige Analysen, die die Teilnahme Beschäftigter an beruflicher Weiterbildung differenziert nach Ost- und Westdeutschland im Trend betrachtet haben, verweisen auf regionalspezifische Muster. Diese Unterschiede werden punktuell vor dem Hintergrund ost-west-spezifischer Arbeitsmarktkontexte verortet, oft jedoch findet keine Kontextualisierung statt. Inwieweit ost-west-spezifische Entwicklungen der Berufs- und Arbeitsmarktstrukturen Einfluss auf motivationale Aspekte der Teilnahmeentscheidung Beschäftigter nehmen, stand bisher nicht im Fokus. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht daher die Teilnahmeselektivität Beschäftigter an selbstinitiierter beruflicher Weiterbildung vor dem Hintergrund ost-west-spezifischer Entwicklungen der Berufs- und Arbeitsmarktstrukturen. Angesichts sich verändernder Kontexte lassen sich veränderte Muster der Teilnahme im Zeitverlauf beobachten. Die Befunde verweisen zudem auf regionale Strukturdifferenzen, die Einfluss auf die selbstinitiierte Teilnahme an beruflicher Weiterbildung nehmen. Insgesamt zeigt sich eine für ostdeutsche Beschäftigte verringerte Teilnahmequote im Vergleich zu westdeutschen Beschäftigten
Sustainability Plan and Future Prospects of City Ports of Brindisi and Igoumenitsa
No full textDOCK-BI “Development Of Connections between the Key ports of Brindisi and Igoumenitsa” is an infrastructural project financed by Interreg V-A Greece-Italy Programme 2014/2020 aimed at upgrading port areas and cross-border ferry connectivity between the key ports of Brindisi and Igoumenitsa. The Consortium of Industrial Development Area of Brindisi (ASI Brindisi Consortium) is the lead beneficiary of this project while partners are: the Southern Adriatic Sea Ports Authority (IT), the Municipality of Brindisi (IT), the Igoumenitsa Port Authority (GR) and the Municipality of Igoumenitsa (GR). Since maritime transport plays a key role in the local economies of the two countries, DOCK-BI faces a common cross-border challenge: to improve the unsatisfactory multimodal accessibility and fi ll in the lack of integration and interconnection of transport modes between the two ports. This is through implementing strategic infrastructural interventions able to boost maritime transport and improve accessibility and integration with ports’ adjacent areas. To fulfill this objective, the project foresees some infrastructural strategic interventions aimed at fostering maritime transport and improving accessibility and integration with the areas adjacent to the two ports. Not only passengers, tourists and economic operators, but also inhabitants, transport stakeholders and port authorities will directly and indirectly benefit from a modern and enhanced cross-border mobility between Italy and Greece thanks to the infrastructural interventions foreseen by DOCK-BI
