The Eco-Social Polity?
The devastating effects of climate change are undeniable. Fires rage and waters rise in every corner of the globe. In light of these changes to our planet, the issue of social and environmental wellbeing has gained prominent attention from both academia and policy makers. Scholarly research on the interaction between social and employment policy domains has flourished. Academics now reflect on the different aspects of environmental and social protection, ecological and social risks, and the costs of climate change, sustainable welfare and new social movements prompted by green transitions.
This book provides a vital contribution to the emerging research agenda. It brings together scholars from interconnected disciplines to discuss the eco-social debate, providing a critical overview on extant scholarship and reflecting on future research pathways on the eco-social nexus from a variety of analytical perspectives

The investigation deals with the lack of enforcement of criminal law in the area of agricultural livestock farming. On the one hand, it focuses on the criminal liability risks for public prosecutors in connection with underenforcement of law. On the other hand, it provides an overview of the prosecution practice typically observed in the area of animal welfare criminal law as well as a solution approach based on empirical results to make the criminal prosecution of animal welfare offences more effective
Geschichte der „Bauernjagd“
Since the Middle Ages, hunting has been a privileged pastime for rulers and the powerful in large parts of Europe. In Germany, the aristocratic right to hunt on other people's land did not formally end until the revolution of 1848/49. The interest of historians in hunting is therefore mainly focused on the art forms and attributes of courtly hunting, its protagonists, methods, weapons and equipment, the development of hunting fairness (Weidgerechtigkeit) and hunter's language (Weidmannssprache), hunting signals and hunting dogs.
This volume, on the other hand, deals with the question of whether and, if so, under what conditions peasants and members of the lower or non-peasant classes also pursued (huntable) wild animals, using examples mainly from Lower Saxony. The hunting laws generally ruled this out. Was it conceivable that a non-aristocratic hunting culture had survived alongside aristocratic hunting practices?
The period under investigation covers the early modern period and the 19th century, with pre- and post-times. Aspects of the development of hunting law, the functions of hunting as a resource for the ruling classes, bird-trapping and poaching as ʻhunting for the little manʼ, animal torture games and hunting criticism as well as the anthropological foundations of hunting are also touched upon
Small Museums Change
What is a ‘small museum’? In this book, the term ‘small’ refers to a museum with a maximum of two ‘normally’ paid full-time functions and further completely staffed by volunteers. People are placed in the centre of the definition, as they should be. This book is part of a series of books produced in cooperation with and financed by the Stichting Rondeltappe-Bernoster-Kemmers. All books of the series have been reviewed and edited by Silvia Naldini, Section of Heritage & Architecture, Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands
Working in Music on the Semiperiphery
While music as labor feeds into the capitalist cultural industries, this book proves that in this sector informality greatly permeates and governs power relations and the allocations of resources. The significant level of informal involvement of the household in the creative and reproductive processes is also explored. It is particularly in the semiperipheral context that the relationship between home-based work and paid work is unbalanced: Emília Barna's field data are from Hungary and range from 2018 to 2021. The same context also implies considerable involvement of the state and its subsidies, as well as the important role of gatekeepers’ political capital.
This book embraces the widest possible range of workers in the music industry. It deals with all music genres from high-flying to commercial and observes various workers in the production chain beyond musicians. Niche segments of the sector, such as YouTube-based commercial hip hop, are given special treatment. Using a variety of empirical research methods, the study examines the trends as workers are pushed towards digital entrepreneurship and platform work, on the one hand, and live performance, on the other. The focus on domestic work and informality offers a feminist analysis of work in music. This approach sheds light on gendered divisions of labor and forms of (self-)exploitation that usually remain invisible. The book proposes a new model of cultural autonomy that takes account of the semiperipheral relationship of music industry workers and institutions to both the market and the state
