Adult Education Research on Digitalisation
Digitalisation is profoundly transforming adult and continuing education - in teaching, in institutions, in education policy, and not least in research. This book provides a comprehensive overview of current academic work on this transformation and shows how digital technologies open up new opportunities, but also what challenges and risks they bring. The first part is devoted to the teaching and learning level. Based on current research findings, it illustrates how Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality and digital educational offerings are changing adult/continuing education. The potential of digital learning formats is presented, but also the ethical, data protection and didactic questions that arise. The second part focuses on institutions, educational offerings and societal framework conditions. The contributions examine the use of digital platforms in the health sector, the influence of social media on political education, the design requirements for media-supported programmes, as well as questions of governance under the conditions of digitality. The third part illuminates theoretical and research-methodological questions on a meta-level. Topics discussed include competency requirements for dealing with generative AI, new questions in the context of digitalisation research, conditions for successful exchange between research and practice, as well as methodological approaches to analysing AI use in adult learning. With these contributions, this volume offers a multi-layered and current picture of how the digital transformation is shaping adult education in Germany and which perspectives and questions are significant in this context. It is aimed at academics who deal with the effects of digitalisation on adult education in an international context and who are interested in current research and theoretical developments
Livro IX
Pausanias is our only testimony to periegetic literature and the author of a precious account of Greece under Roman occupation (2nd century AD). His description is that of someone who has travelled and synthetizes what he, with a gaze that is not only that of a curious tourist, but of an intellectual who has a solid cultural background and extensive information, as a result of a careful collection of all kinds of sources, oral and written. We owe an enormous debt to Pausanias: that of having saved a ballast of monuments, historical events, figures and traditions which, without him, would have been definitively erased from the memory of mankind.
Many Science Fiction stories take place in the future and serve as example when thinking about possible developments in society and technology. At the same time, SF fans cherish the genre especially because of its quirky, eccentric and often improbable worlds. Looking at recent publications and projects that actively bring together speculative literature and scenario thinking, Julia Grillmayr sheds light on the common goals and histories of Science Fiction and futurology, but also what separates them and is specific to SF as an art form.
Mathematical Thinking. An Involution for Architects
The two most predominant characteristics of mathematical thinking are abstraction and diachronic validity. The currently dominant division between pure and applied mathematics eradicates both— how abstraction always guides method, and how the universality that pertains to mathematics constitutes transhistorical and transcultural validity. By the method guided by abstraction, this book understands a process of percolation which allows the filtering out of all irrelevant details pertaining to a particular problem, so that the invariants of this problem can be revealed, exposed, communicated, and translated to help coping with a similar problem in another situation. It is through the finding of such invariances that the diachronic validity of mathematical thinking can be enunciated beyond the writing of a linearly progressing ‘history of mathematics’, and also beyond the analytical fixation with axiomatics and foundation in a-historical manner. The proposed view on mathematical thinking, and the creativity and inventiveness inherent to it, can connect in a surprising manner current physics with computation and the rich legacy of thinking the cosmos architectonically, in philosophy and in the arts. This book guides in an introductory manner through some of the many implications that come with this proposed “involution”
La via della bellezza
This volume brings together the Proceedings of the Conference organized by the International Society Thomas Aquinas on 19 October 2024 at the Abbey of Fossanova in Priverno, the site where the Angelic Doctor concluded his earthly pilgrimage on 7 March 1274.
The collection comprises four principal lectures and twenty-five further studies, distributed across five thematic sections: the pulchrum in its metaphysical and theological dimensions; the relationship between pulchrum and bonum; twentieth-century receptions; interpretations of Aquinas’s doctrine of beauty; and additional contributions of a transversal nature.
The volume offers substantial evidence of the fecundity of Aquinas’s thought on the nexus between being and beauty, underscoring both the historical rootedness of his oeuvre—situated in dialogue with the major figures who preceded him, from Plato and Aristotle to Augustine, Boethius, and Pseudo-Dionysius—and the enduring significance of his contributions to theological, anthropological, ethical, and educational inquiry. Attention is likewise given to the rich legacy his perspective has bequeathed, enabling fruitful engagement with later thinkers such as Hans Urs von Balthasar, Umberto Eco, and Luigi Pareyson.
Of particular note are the innovative contributions that place the via pulchritudinis in conversation with contemporary concerns in education and the evaluation of scientific research. These studies demonstrate how Thomistic thought continues to open promising and insightful avenues of investigation, engaging not only metaphysics and theology but also ethics, the natural and social sciences, and pedagogy.

I Can't Breathe e outros textos 3ª edição
The first text, I Can't Breathe (2015), was written during the process. Through interviews and improvisations with actress Ana Monte Real and author-actor Elmano Sancho himself, a script is constructed that presents some characteristics of pornographic films. In fact, I Can't Breathe could be the title of an adult film. The text reveals the inability to breathe in a contemporary society that tends towards uniformity and insists on revealing the mysteries of human life and the soul. The work in Damas da Noite, Uma Farsa de Elmano Sancho (2019) was similar; the writing arises from the need to bring Cléopâtre to life, under the watchful eye of the drag queen performers in the show. Together, the performers give name, body and voice to a person-character who never existed and who comes to announce (good?) news to the world. In A Última Estação (2018), the author takes the theme of the Passion of Christ and the Stations of the Cross as the basis for the construction of the text. The approach now is Christian symbolism, which serves as inspiration for the dramaturgical and scenic structure. Its fifteenth and final station, The Resurrection can be understood, to a certain extent, as one of the main themes of Elmano Sancho's theatrical writing: the urgency to reinvent oneself at every new moment.PublishedO primeiro texto, I Can´t Breathe (2015), foi escrito em processo.
