Pathogenesis and Treatments of Head and Neck Cancer
This Special Issue reprint compiles cutting-edge research on the pathogenesis and treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The collected articles explore metabolic reprogramming and immune evasion mechanisms, highlighting the roles of enzymes such as IDO1 and IL4I1. Studies on gene expression profiles, including SLC2A3 and SDHA, provide insights into predicting tumor recurrence post-radiotherapy. Additional contributions examine the significance of inflammatory biomarkers, the tumor microbiome, and potential molecular targets like Aspartate β-hydroxylase (ASPH) in enhancing therapeutic outcomes. This compilation serves as a valuable resource for researchers and clinicians aiming to advance personalized medicine approaches in HNSCC management

Exhibiting Cinema in Contemporary Art
Whether it involves remaking an old Hollywood movie, projecting a quiet 16mm film, or constructing a bombastic multi-screen environment, cinema now takes place not just in the movie theatre and the home, but also in the art gallery and the museum. The author of this engaging study takes stock of this development, offering an in-depth inquiry into its genesis, its defining features, and the ramifications it has for art and cinema alike. Through the lens of contemporary art history, she examines cinema studies’ great disciplinary obsession – namely, what cinema was, is, and will become in a digital future
Religious Architecture
Borrowing from a range of theories on spacemaking and material religion, and with contributions from anthropologists working in the United Kingdom, Mali, Brazil, Spain, and Italy, this fascinating and comprehensive study develops an anthropological perspective on modern religious architecture including mosques, churches, and synagogues. Religious Architecture examines how religious buildings take their place in opposition to their secular surroundings and, in so doing, function not only as community centers in urban daily life, but also as evocations of the sublime that help believers to move beyond the boundaries of modern subjectivity
Catalytic Reforming and Hydrogen Production
This Special Issue explores cutting-edge advances in catalytic reforming processes for sustainable hydrogen production, presenting eight original research articles and two comprehensive reviews. Topics include the dry reforming of methane (DRM), methanol steam and aqueous-phase reforming, bio-oil reforming, and photocatalytic hydrogen production. The studies reveal innovative catalytic systems, such as Ni-Ag and Ni-Ga, that enhance stability and reduce carbon deposition, while platinum-based catalysts and carbon supports optimize methanol reforming. Photocatalysts like Cu2O/CuO and La-doped MoS2 show promise for efficient solar-driven H2 generation. The reviews delve into recent developments in methanol steam reforming and cobalt manganese spinels for hydrogen evolution and VOC degradation. Together, these contributions offer deep insights into catalyst design, reaction mechanisms, and future directions for efficient and scalable hydrogen technologies in the transition toward a low-carbon energy future
Genocide
The twentieth century has been called, not inaccurately, a century of genocide. And the beginning of the twenty-first century has seen little change, with genocidal violence in Darfur, Congo, Sri Lanka, and Syria. Why is genocide so widespread, and so difficult to stop, across societies that differ so much culturally, technologically, and politically? That's the question that this collection addresses, gathering a stellar roster of contributors to offer a range of perspectives from different disciplines to attempt to understand the pervasiveness of genocidal violence. Challenging outdated beliefs and conventions that continue to influence our understanding, Genocide constitutes a major contribution to the scholarship on mass violence
Queer Relajo
In 2015, Mexico City declared itself a “gay-friendly” city and followed up with a gay tourist guide and new laws permitting changes to gender markers on legal documents, sanctioning same-sex marriage, and allowing joint adoption of children. At the same time, patterns of violence and discrimination against women, trans, and queer people have continued throughout the country. In Queer Relajo, David Tenorio argues that while Mexico City aims to bring visibility to queer sociality, the benefits of legitimizing queer space remain unclear. Combining readings of film, digital media, and performance with drag autoethnography, Queer Relajo quite literally plays with how relajo (or playfulness) structures the spaces of queer nightlife in urban contexts by revealing how nighttime intimacy can minimize the paralyzing effects of violence and precarity in a neoliberal Mexico. Considering the political implications of when a queer/trans person is present at night, Tenorio argues that queer feelings of play are not only essential to sexual liberation, but also resist neoliberal commodification and heteronormative extraction
