Les Certificats d'Economie d'Energie entre économie et politique
To encourage building renovations and the replacement of old energy-consuming equipment, some governments have introduced a system of white certificates requiring large producers and distributors of natural gas, electricity and fuel to prove that they have financed energy-saving operations. The system is proving to be much less efficient than expected because energy saving works are "credence goods", which means that their quality can be correctly measured neither before nor after their achievement. Because of this informational bias, white certificates encourage economically inefficient works. Despite this, they are favored by the public authorities because they belong to the panoply of nonpunitive, non-fiscal, decentralized and local job-creating micro-policies

Estimation of volatility functions in jump diffusions using truncated bipower increments
In the paper, we introduce and analyze a new methodology to estimate the volatility functions of jump diffusion models. Our methodology relies on the standard kernel estimation technique using truncated bipower increments. The relevant asymptotics are fully developed, which allow for the time span to increase as well as the sampling interval to decrease and accommodate both stationary and nonstationary recurrent processes. We evaluate the performance of our estimators by simulation and provide some illustrative empirical analyses
Shareholder heterogeneity, asymmetric information, and the equilibrium manager
Consider a Örm owned by shareholders with heterogeneous beliefs and discount rates who delegate to a manager the choice of a production plan. The shareholders and the manager can trade contingent claims in a complete asset market. Shareholders cannot observe the chosen production plan and design a compensation scheme so that at equilibrium the manager chooses the plan they prefer and reveals
it truthfully. We show that at equilibrium i) proÖt is maximized, ii) the manager gets a constant share of production, iii) she has no incentive to trade. We then show that such equilibrium exists if and only if the manager has the same belief and discount rate as the representative shareholder. This allows us to characterize the required characteristics of the manager as a function of shareholdersí characteristics
On interweaving relations
Interweaving relations are introduced and studied here in a general Markovian setting as a strengthening of usual intertwining relations between semigroups, obtained by adding a randomized delay feature. They provide a new classification scheme of the set of Markovian semigroups which enables to transfer from a reference semigroup and up to an independent warm-up time, some ergodic, analytical and mixing properties including the φ-entropy convergence to equilibrium, the hyperboundedness and, when the warm-up time is deterministic, the cut-off phenomena. We also present several useful transformations that preserve interweaving relations. We provide a variety of examples of interweaving relations ranging from classical, discrete, and non-local Laguerre and Jacobi semigroups to degenerate hypoelliptic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups and some non-colliding particle systems
Making the carbon basket count: Goal setting promotes sustainable consumption in a simulated online supermarket
We compared the effectiveness of basket goal-setting to product information strategies on sustainable consumption in a simulated online supermarket. Experiment 1 found a significant effect of basket goal setting techniques with carbon basket feedback in either numerical or graphical form on the carbon content of baskets purchased but no effect of numerical product information alone or in combination with basket CO2 information. Experiment 2 also found that basket goal setting was effective, but found no additional effect of introducing five-colour coding of the carbon footprints of either products or baskets. Experiment 3 found that repeated visits to the online supermarket led to improved learning about product carbon footprint in the basket goal setting condition, which mediated the effect of goal setting on basket carbon footprint. Our results suggest that goal setting techniques with feedback can reduce the carbon footprint of online shopping baskets and facilitate learning about product carbon footprint
