Synthetic strategies and diversification of dibenzo[1,5]diazocines
Dibenzo[1,5]diazocine scaffolds are present in a wide range of organic building blocks, for example in pharmaceuticals, materials and structural chemistry. However, the development of these structural frameworks has not received significant attention owing to limited synthetic protocols and strategies. Herein, a summary of the attractive synthetic approaches for the construction of dibenzo[1,5]diazocines, epiminodibenzo[1,5]diazocines and epoxydibenzo[1,5]diazocines developed over the past two decades is presented. The spectroscopic, synthetic mechanisms for the formation of the heterocyclic rings and remarkable structural features, including in the solid-state, are discussed

3,4-Diaminopyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidines: a new three-component microwave-assisted synthesis and anti-leukemic properties
A convenient method for the synthesis of N3,N4-disubstituted 3,4-diaminopyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidines was developed using a three-component reaction of 3,5-diaminopyrazole-4-carbonitriles with primary amines and orthoesters. The preparation of 114 examples demonstrated the good scope of the reaction, which tolerated variations in the substrate structure and was particularly efficient under microwave irradiation. The short reaction time and chromatographyfree product isolation add practicality to this method. The anti-leukemic activity was assessed in vitro using K562 and Jurkat T cells, and the selectivity of the most active compounds was 3 evaluated using non-cancerous MRC5 cells. The most promising compound inhibited Jurkat T cells with a GI50 value of 0.5 µM and a selectivity index of 64

Structural and Hirshfeld surface analysis of thallium(I) and indium(III) complexes of a soft scorpionate ligand
Two complexes containing a soft sulfur-substituted tris(pyrazolyl)hydroborate ligand, namely [TlI(TmtBu)]2∙2H2O and [InIII(TmtBu)2](InCl4), where TmtBu is the tris(3-tert-butyl-2-sulfanylidene-1H-imidazol-1-yl)hydroborate anion, have been characterized. The {TlS}2 core of the former has the shape of a diamond. Each S atom of the TmtBu anion coordinates differently: one S is connected to one Tl atom, one bridges both Tl atoms, while the third S atom connects solely to the second Tl atom. The S4 donor set defines a seesaw geometry. The independent H2O molecule forms O–H···S and localized O–H···π(pyrazolyl) contacts. Flattened octahedral geometries defined by S6 donor sets are noted for the two independent cations in [InIII(TmtBu)2](InCl4). In the crystal of [TlI(TmtBu)]2∙2H2O, pyrazolyl-C–H···O(water) interactions connect the dimeric units into a linear supramolecular chain, chains pack without directional interactions between them. In the crystal of [InIII(TmtBu)2](InCl4), alternating rows of independent cations are interspersed by anions. The primary points of contact within a three-dimensional architecture are of the type In–Cl···π(pyrazolyl) and C–H···Cl. The assessment of the molecular packing was complemented by considering the calculated Hirshfeld surfaces and two-dimensional fingerprint plots (overall and delineated into individual contacts)
Vertical distributions of radionuclides along the tourist‑attractive Marayon Tong Hill in the Bandarban district of Bangladesh
This is the first attempt in the world to depict the vertical distribution of radionuclides in the soil samples along several heights (900 feet, 1550 feet, and 1650 feet) of Marayon Tong hill in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bandarban by HPGe gamma-ray spectrometry. The average activity concentrations of 232Th, 226Ra, and 40K were found to be 37.15 ± 3.76 Bqkg−1, 19.69 ± 2.15 Bqkg−1, and 347.82 ± 24.50 Bqkg−1, respectively, where in most cases, 232Th exceeded the world average value of 30 Bqkg−1. According to soil characterization, soils ranged from slightly acidic to moderately acidic, with low soluble salts. The radium equivalent activity, outdoor and indoor absorbed dose rate, external and internal hazard indices, external and internal effective dose rates, gamma level index, and excess lifetime cancer risk were evaluated and found to be below the recommended or world average values; but a measurable activity of 137Cs was found at soils collected from ground level and at an altitude of 1550 feet, which possibly arises from the nuclear fallout. The evaluation of cumulative radiation doses to the inhabitants via periodic measurement is recommended due to the elevated levels of 232Th.This pioneering work in mapping the vertical distribution of naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMs) can be an essential factual baseline data for the scientific community that may be used to evaluate the variation in NORMs in the future, especially after the commissioning of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Bangladesh in 2024
How Different Preparation Techniques Affect MRI-Induced Anxiety of MRI Patients: A Preliminary Study
Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams may cause patients to feel anxious before or during the scan, which affects the scanning outcome and leads to motion artifacts. Adequate preparation can effectively alleviate patients’ anxiety before the scan. We aimed to assess the effect of different preparation methods on MRI-induced anxiety: We conducted a prospective randomized study on MRI patients between March and May 2022. We divided 30 patients into two groups: the control group, which received routine preparation (RP), and the experimental group, which received video preparation (VP).We used the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) to measure anxiety levels before and after the interventions. We assessed patients’ self-satisfaction after the scan: After preparation, VP (STAI mean = 10.7500) and RP (STAI mean = 12.7857), we observed a significant association between the pre- and post-STAI results in VP (p = 0.025). The effects of both methods in decreasing anxiety were more significant for first-timers (p = 0.009 in RP/0.014 in VP). We noted high satisfaction levels for both forms of preparation. The VP technique was superior in reducing patient anxiety, especially in first-time MRI patients. Hence, VP techniques can be used in different clinical settings to reduce anxiety and facilitate patients’ understanding of the instructions given
Review—CNT-Based Water Purification and Treatment Strategies
Over the recent century, the scarcity of pure drinking water has been increasing worldwide, and due to the overwhelming rise in demand the situation could be exacerbated to a greater extent in the upcoming days. To remit this global issue, several technologies for purifying water have been developed which are limited by certain factors. Therefore, research interests in nanomaterials-based water purification technologies are growing to tackle water scarcity. Among the various proposed methods and nanomaterials, CNTs and functionalized CNTs are superior to water purification and treatment processes due to configurable properties such as high surface area, high reactivity, lower cost, and less adverse effects on the environment. This review will introduce most of the CNTs and functionalized CNTs-based water purification and treatment technologies and the challenges associated with these applications. The comparative studies among these methods will also be discussed which will help the researchers to bring novel CNTs-based efficient technologies in the near future for a sustainable world
