Multi-purpose use of water on small hydroplant Možnica
In my graduation thesis I was exploring the potential of Moţnica water resource. The Moţnica creek is\ud
located in the municipality of Bovec, near the Log pod Mangartom village. The creek flows through\ud
Triglav National Park and Natura 2000 area, which means that special rules apply in placing of the\ud
hydroelectric power plant. The data obtained from the measuring station Moţnica led to my research\ud
whether building a small hydroelectric power plant on the watercourse would be useful and profitable.\ud
The water from the creek could also be exploited for supplying the Bovec-Čezsoča water distribution\ud
system with drinking water. The water reservoir would be located in the area of source of the creek.\ud
The water would be collected with the capturing of the source thus avoiding the contamination of\ud
drinking water and providing sufficient amount of water for a small hydroplant. Considering the fall\ud
and the power and water amount of the spring I decided for the use of Pelton turbine, which is the\ud
most efficient. Calculating the energy potential I took into account two ecologically acceptable flows,\ud
determined by two different approaches. With these two fluxes I determined the most optimal option\ud
of the rated flow for the hydroelectric power plant
Analysis of flood waves along Sava river
In this diploma work the analysis of flood waves along the Sava river is discussed. In the introductory\ud
part of the thesis floods are presented, and also their characteristics, characteristics of floods in\ud
Slovenia and flood protection measures.\ud
In the following part hydrogeological, hydrographical and meteorological characteristisc of the Sava\ud
river basin are presented. Then the water gauging stations are described and our choice of water\ud
gauging stations for the analysis is depicted. Further, a program Hidrolog is presented which helped us\ud
to get hydrological data needed. Acquired hydrological data are data of dates of flood peak discharges\ud
and data of discharges at individual water gauging stations. These hydrological data were required to\ud
show travelling of flood peak discharges on the Sava river and its main tributaries in graphical and\ud
tabular form.\ud
In the diploma work the average times of flood peak discharges on the Sava river were calculated and\ud
the following conclusions were reached. Time traveling is increasing with the distance of water\ud
gauging stations downstream the Sava river. At water gauging station Medno there was a negative\ud
value, the reason is Hydroelectric Power Station Medvode. We found out, that the average flood wave\ud
of the Sava river travel from Jesenice to Radovljica 3,7 h, to Šentjakob 9,2 h, to Litija 15,1 h, to\ud
Hrastnik 17,4 h and to Čatež 23,5 h
Design of reinforced concrete slab of the existing building
In my thesis I designed a reinforced concrete slab between two stories. The slab is a part\ud
of a building that was built three years ago and is located in the village called Vodice.\ud
The design method I used is based on determining design actions of the slab. I analized\ud
inner forces and determined reinforcment based on all limit states for the slab. At the end\ud
the result of my work was the reinforcement drawing which I made under all demands\ud
required by Eurocode 2
Bond between fibre reinforced concrete and reinforcing bars
The following thesis covers the researches on bonds between fibre reinforced high strength\ud
concrete and reinforcing bars. For the purpose of research we had conceived a pull-out test\ud
specified on directions in standard SIST EN 10080:2005 in annex D. This standard defines\ud
how the specimens and the test are conducted. In a wooden mold we made a cube-shaped\ud
concrete specimens with an edge of 20 cm and a rebar with a diameter of 12 mm embedded\ud
through the middle. After 28 days the pull-out tests were carried out on hardened concrete\ud
specimens using a special testing machine. The bond stress was determined as the stress\ud
acting on the circumference of a reinforcing bar. We tested three different types of highstrength\ud
concrete which were made with different proportion of steel and polypropylene\ud
fibres. Three specimens were made for each type of concrete. The experimental results\ud
showed that the fibre reinforcment significantly increased the bond strength between\ud
concrete and reinforcement bars
Influence of chemical additives and alkaline conditions on properties of lime-based injection grouts with dolomite powder
This diploma thesis researches the influence of alkaline conditions and chemical admixtures, such as\ud
superplasticizers PCE and PPh, on properties of lime-based injection grouts with dolomite filler.\ud
Samples (bars) were prepared and exposed to different ageing conditions. At first, the samples were\ud
exposed to room temperature for a 1-month period, after that the bars were exposed for 3 months to\ud
accelerated conditions in a solution of 1M NaOH and at the temperature of 60°C.\ud
The tests were undertaken on fresh and hardened grouts. On fresh grouts the test of fluidity was\ud
carried out, while on hardened bars the changes in weight and volume were measured, and flexural\ud
and compressive tests were conducted. Furthermore, the influence of glycerol carbonate on\ud
carbonation of the lime binder was also investigated
Comparison of land use in the municipalities of Mežica and Ravne na Koroškem based on municipal spatial acts
In the diploma paper we analyzed the land use changes on the basis of municipal spatial\ud
planning documents. The analysis referred to the municipalities of Mežica and Ravne na\ud
Koroškem. In the first part we present the normative platform which content descriptions of\ud
different planning documents that are accepted in Slovenia. We focused on municipal spatial\ud
planning documents, which have to be ordered by the principle of hierarchy. Furthermore we\ud
are describing both of studied municipalities with their statistics and presentation of their\ud
spatial acts. In the practical part of diploma paper we compare basic and detailed land use\ud
for municipality of Mežica and basic land use for municipality of Ravne na Koroškem, for old\ud
and for valid spatial planning documents. The data of basic and detailed land use were\ud
analyzed and sorted in the program ArcGIS 10.2 and presented on maps in scale 1:25000\ud
for Mežica and 1:40000 for Ravne na Koroškem. All categories of land use are showed with\ud
their area in the municipalities, which are also presented by their balances, in hectares and in\ud
percentages. The results are showing an increase of building land use due to the reduction\ud
of agricultural land use and an increase of forest land use due to the reduction of agricultural\ud
land use
Energetic renovation of a public building
The aim of the diploma paper is to present the energetic renovation of a public building. The\ud
paper contains the analysis of the municipal building of Ribnica community, which is located\ud
at 3 Gorenjska cesta, Ribnica. The building has been listed in the Register of Cultural\ud
Heritage, hence not only energetic renovation but also cultural factors should be taken into\ud
consideration. The analysis of the construction assembly has been carried out with the help\ud
of program called TEDI. The steps presented in the paper are the following: the renovation of\ud
the entire building envelope, the replacement of the transparent elements and the installation\ud
of the mechanical ventilation. The energy consumption and energy savings have been\ud
calculated with the help of TOST program and the energy performance certificate with the\ud
program for the calculation of energy certificate owned by Knauf Isolation
Optimal design of reinforced concrete beam with respect to bending moment and axial force
The thesis paper describes the procedure of designing reinforced concrete sections. Cross section\ud
resistance depends on the number of reinforced bars, section dimensions and concrete strength.\ud
Usually we choose the type of concrete, the geometry of the section and then determine the number of\ud
reinforced bars. This is the fastest way of designing, but not the cheapest. In order to look for the most\ud
economical solution, it is necessary to calculate all the parameters for all types of concretes. This way\ud
is more complicated and requires more time. Part of my graduation thesis is in Excel, which has an\ud
integrated solver application. With this add-in we can find the best solution with less difficulty. Users\ud
enter the types of concrete and their prices, limit values of the geometry parameters and loads. Using\ud
nonlinear functions to solve equations, solver gives results for every type of concrete, and the number\ud
of reinforced bars and section dimensions.\ud
The static model is a simply supported beam. It is possible to modify the program for different types\ud
of constructions. The beam is loaded with an axial force and bending moment. The assumption is: the\ud
bending moment is significantly larger than the axial force. This state of stress causes large\ud
eccentricity. The computer program calculates only longitudinal reinforcement, but not the shear\ud
reinforcement. The design procedure is explained in the standard Eurocode 2. It is required to check\ud
the ultimate and serviceability limit state. Based on the obtained results, the conclusion is that for\ud
construction loaded with a large bending moment and a small axial force, the most economical\ud
concrete is between C40 and C50
Energy and sustainability aspects of wood construction
Nowadays sustainable and energy-efficient construction is one of the top issues, therefore in\ud
my graduation thesis we calculated the energy balance of a small family house and checked\ud
the suitability of wooden structural complexes of exterior walls according to selected criteria\ud
of sustainability.\ud
In this thesis we chose wooden structural complexes of exterior walls, which can be found in\ud
the Slovenian market. We also specified two conventional structural complexes of brick and\ud
reinforced concrete. The theoretical part defines wood composites, which are found in\ud
selected structural complexes and concepts of sustainability, sustainable development,\ud
sustainable architecture, sustainable building and sustainable engineering.\ud
Energy efficency of selected structural complexes is shown in the case of a single-family lowenergy\ud
house type called Prima, which is the product of company Marles. In addition, we\ud
used the Dovjak and Krainer method [12] to define sustainability aspects and specific criteria,\ud
which were analyzed on the basis of the composition of selected wooden structural\ud
complexes. We discussed environmental, social, economic and health criteria of\ud
sustainability.\ud
We found out that the energy efficency of a building is determined by thermal transmittance\ud
of frame construction. For this reason it is not necessary that the wood-frame construction is\ud
more energy efficient than the conventional one. In the analysis of the sustainability it is\ud
proven that wood-frame construction are more sustainable than conventional, though not\ud
to meet demands of sustainability (environmental, economic, social, health). In order to fully\ud
meet all the criteria should be avoided imports of wood and wood composites, and use wood\ud
without adhesives and resins, which are bad for health and the environment
Writing a detailed expert report to enter the broadband network of electronic communications in the municipality of Krško into the ZK GJI
The thesis describes the individual steps of writing a detailed expert report to enter the broadband network of electronic communications in the municipality of Krško into ZK GJI. It begins by presenting the legal regulations covering the recording of data into ZK GJI. That is followed by a decription of the manner of recording buildings and networks of electronic communications, the recommended location accuracy and the methods of measurement (classic and GNSS methods of measurement). That is followed by a description of used measuring apparatus, the actual software used and the ways of processing the data and entry into ZK using the programme module Infra 2. The thesis concludes with a presentation of the contents of the detailed expert report for entry into ZK GJI and of the documents neccessary to forward the captured data to the Surverying and mapping authority of the Republic of Slovenia
