The aim of this paper is to review smart city literature to achieve these goals. More than 150 sources of literature were approached and analyzed with a view of finding out drivers and success indicators of smart cities on which future research policies are depend. The results pointed out several drivers that stimulate cities to be smart. These drivers are related to economy, environment, governance, safety, energy, living, technology, buildings, education and people. Interestingly, a smart city should be distinguished by smartness extent achieved to meet the requirements of these drivers. That is, a smart city is the one that marked by its own smart economy, smart environment, smart governance, smart safety, smart energy, smart living, smart technology, smart buildings, smart education and smart people. This paper contributes to smart city literature by showing drivers and indicators related to smart cities success

The Humanities and social disciplines are constantly animated by epistemological and methodological pluralism and differ in criteria, targets and methods of research. These disciplines are born in the world of ancient Greece. However, it is interesting to observe how, in the historical development of knowledge, the Humanities have worked on the resolution of problems related to knowledge, to guidelines of research and to definition of methodologies for qualitative and quantitative evaluation. Certainly the Italian Renaissance has marked a very important phase because in this epoch the human sciences were considered fundamental and of support to the development of the science still in empirical phase. Even all the scientific evolutions that we can record in the different historical eras have availing themselves of the contribution of the humanities. The scientist has always been a great humanist. After decades of disciplinary perimeters, we finally go back to thinking about the dialogue between Science and Humanities. This paper aims to open a new research perspective that finds interesting feedback in the world of astronomy and then beyond the Earth, where science, philosophy, history, art, theology help to trace new paths of study and pursuing new, important knowledge for the future of humanity

    Get PDF
The realization of the bastions, in the mid-sixteenth century, radically changed the urban image of Capua and, at a broader scale, the landscape context, preciously connoting the city as key stronghold of the Southern territory and place of experimentation of the adaptation of the fortifications to the innovations of the oxidative techniques, until the first half of the nineteenth century. The paper makes use of a remarkable corpus of unpublished graphs, found in different European archives, the reconsideration of those already known and of new documents (mainly of the eighteenth-century procurement) to trace, in one with a systematic analysis stratigraphy of the elevated, to identify the chronologies of the imposing surviving structures, proposing significant advancements of knowledge on the subject. This paper also reconsiders the relationship between the project experiments carried out in Italy during the first half of the sixteenth century and those conducted in the new world for the fortifications of Spanish colonial cities

Mechanochemical Access to Elusive Metal Diphosphinate Coordination Polymer

    Get PDF
Several binary metal diphosphinate compounds (ML) have been reported for diphosphinate bonded by a single methylene fragment. In case of longer bridges, binary products are difficult to isolate in crystalline form. Here, using a solvent assisted mechano-chemistry synthesis, we report two new ML crystalline phases, one hydrated and one anhydrous. The hydrated phase is a 2D coordination polymer with an open framework structure. Its network displays a new topology for coordination polymers and metal organic frameworks. The thermal behavior of the two phases has been studied. Finally, the importance of the bridge length is discussed in view of known metal diphosphinate compounds

An EpiDoc ontological perspective: the epigraphs of the Castello Ursino Civic Museum of Catania via CIDOC CRM

    Get PDF
The rich epigraphic heritage of the Castello Ursino Civic Museum of Catania has been studied by the EpiCUM project that encoded it in EpiDoc TEI XML, an XML based standard digital representation for cultural heritage contents. The project made the epigraphic heritage available in a digital museum: under the guise of the ‘Voci di Pietra’ exhibition, a selection of epigraphs were presented, implementing innovative presentation modalities thanks to a smart use of technological and digital means. Information contained in the epigraphs was semantically reorganized in a unique homogeneous container, the EpiONT ontology, constructed according to the Linked Open Data paradigm and to consolidated international standards. The encoding of the ancient texts, by the TEI standard and its EpiDoc subset, is wedded to the paradigmatic semantic web model for museums and cultural heritage. The EpiONT ontology is currently populated by 580 epigraphs collected in the Castello Ursino Civic Museum. Designed according to the CIDOC CRM standard, it makes use of the SKOS vocabularies of the EAGLE project concerning material, execution technique, type of inscription, and type of support of an epigraph. The EpiONT ontology additionally can handle any uncertainty in the origin and place of discovery of the epigraphs

    Considerazioni criminologiche sul femminicidio

    Get PDF
Abstract Any distinction between the words femicide and feminicide involves some political and legal considerations, but also exposes analysis of the different ways of approaching this issue. Femicide refers to the nature of gender crime, specifying that this phenomenon is also a social fact which is put into context and outlined by the cultural reference framework. Feminicide is a general category covering violence against women. It refers also to any kind of gender violence aimed at annihilating female subjectivity from a physical, psychological and economic point of view. The word feminicide also includes any kind of domestic violence and the phenomenon of children’s exposure to that aspect of domestic violence. In the field of Italian criminal law and substantive criminal law, the law n° 199 of 2013 introduced a set of preventive and punitive measures against all forms of gender-based violence against women. This law is an addition to the law n° 66 of 1996 which had already included many changes, but they alone were not sufficient to prevent and fight against the aforementioned different types of crimes

    Get PDF
The paper illustrates the recent evolution of web architectures and the choices made for the web portal of ‘Archeologia e Calcolatori’. The website needed an urgent restyling to update its ASP platform, even though for 15 years it had performed its interactive work very well. Today, the ASP language is no longer supported by Microsoft and the infrastructural choices of the CNR are and will be increasingly oriented towards the world of open source and LAMP architectures (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Phyton). For this reason, a transformation was not only suggested, but vital. It was therefore decided to completely renew the website, a task consisting of about 70 physical pages to be rewritten in PHP. This work transformation has helped to pave the way for new technologies that today are modifying the web architecture of the entire WWW and that will soon allow us to implement new services and functions. Particular attention was paid to the most significant phenomena in the innovative technological panorama of Web Information Systems, with particular emphasis on the Semantic Databases and the new RIA (Rich Internet Application) technologies, the latter a splendid evolution of client-side web architectures

    Get PDF
3D Heritage Online Presenter (3DHOP) is a framework for advanced web-based visual presentations of high-resolution 3D content. Developed at the Visual Computing Lab CNR ISTI, 3DHOP was designed to cope with the specific needs of cultural heritage projects, supporting web-based publishing of very high-resolution digitized results and enabling the documentation of complex restoration actions. The present paper highlights, through some case studies (Peltuinum archaeological area, AQ, and Castillo de La Muela in Consuegra), the potentials of 3DHOP’s tools for the management of data from both active (laser scanner) and passive sensors (photogrammetry and aerophotogrammetry). In addition, problems and solutions encountered during the organization and personalization of web pages will be presented. The goal of this operation is to create a three-dimensional hub that can collect and link traditional archaeological documentation to 3D geometry
