Towards a local wisdom-based water resource management model
Water resource management is a critical component of sustainable development, particularly in regions facing water scarcity, climate change, and environmental degradation. While modern technological solutions have improved water conservation and distribution, local wisdom and traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) provide valuable, yet often overlooked, insights into sustainable water governance. This conceptual paper explores the integration of local wisdom into contemporary water management frameworks to enhance resilience and sustainability. By systematically reviewing existing literature, the study identifies key principles of indigenous and community-based water management practices that emphasize holistic, participatory, and ecosystem-centred approaches. Findings suggest that incorporating local knowledge strengthens governance, promotes conservation, and fosters ecological balance. This paper advocates for a hybrid management model that harmonizes traditional wisdom with modern scientific methodologies, ensuring a more inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable approach to water resource governance
The effect of environmental disclosure practices on firm value Malaysians listed firms
There are no clear laws in Malaysia requiring firms to disclose environmental information, although the Department of Environment and the Occupational Safety and Health Act mandate some disclosures, which creates uncertainty for investors and complicates the assessment of environmental risks and liabilities associated with their investments. In Agency theory, environmental disclosure reduces information gaps, which in turn increases the value of a firm, thereby aligning the interests of investors and managers. According to Legitimacy Theory, firms disclose environmental information to satisfy societal expectations and secure public approval, increasing their market value. This paper tries to find the relationship between environmental disclosure and firm value within a final sample of 344 firms listed in Bursa Malaysia. The non-financial data, which are environmental disclosure and firm age, were collected in the annual report, while other remaining data, such as firm size, leverage, profitability, and turnover ratio, were collected from Orbis's database. The panel regression analysis shows that environmental disclosure has a positive relationship with firm value. Investors and firms should acknowledge the enduring advantages of openness in environmental practices, as it enhances market valuation and aligns with the increasing desire for sustainable company operations

Online-based and technology-assisted psychiatric education for trainees: Scoping review
Background: The concept of online learning in medical education has been gaining traction, but whether it can accommodate the complexity of higher-level psychiatric training remains uncertain. Objective: This review aims to identify the various online-based and technology-assisted educational methods used in psychiatric training and to examine the outcomes in terms of trainees’knowledge, skills, and levels of confidence or preference in using such technologies. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane, PsycINFO, Scopus, and ERIC to identify relevant literature from 1991 until 2024. Studies in English and those that had English translations were identified. Studies that incorporated or explored the use of online-based or technology-assisted learning as part of psychiatric training in trainees and had outcomes of interest related to changes in the level of knowledge or skills, changes in the level of preference or confidence in using online-based or technology-assisted learning, and feedback of participants were included. Studies were excluded if they were conducted on populations excluding psychiatric trainees or residents, were mainly descriptive of the concept of the intervention without any relevant study outcome, were not in English or did not have English translations, or were review articles. Results: A total of 82 articles were included in the review. The articles were divided into 3 phases: prior to 2015, 2015 to 2019 (prepandemic), and 2020 onward (postpandemic). Articles mainly originated from Western countries, and there was a significant increase in relevant studies after the pandemic. There were 5 methods identified, namely videoconference, online modules/e-learning, virtual patients, software/applications, and social media. These were applied in various aspects of psychiatric education, such as theory knowledge, skills training, psychotherapy supervision, and information retrieval. Conclusions: Videoconference-based learning was the most widely implemented approach, followed by online modules and virtual patients. Despite the outcome heterogeneity and small sample sizes in the included studies, the application of such approaches may have utility in terms of knowledge and skills attainment and could be beneficial for the training of future psychiatrists, especially those in underserved low- and middle-income countries
A literature review on the trends and implications of economic shocks on income inequality in Malaysia
Income inequality has been a major issue globally in recent decades, both in developing and developed countries. This economic problem occurs when the income distribution is not evenly distributed across households or society. High levels of inequality may dampen economic development and lead to social unrest and poverty. In most developing countries, Malaysia is no exception, especially since the income inequality between states or regions has widened over time due to several economic variables’ impact. Despite the widening income inequality, there is limited empirical evidence on how these economic shocks affect income inequality. Therefore, this study is presented to examine the patterns and the implications of economic shocks on income inequality in Malaysia through a narrative review. This paper begins by providing an overview of past studies, and empirical findings on income inequality and economic shocks. By analyzing these consequences of economic shocks, this study may provide a nuanced perspective on the contribution to mitigate the adverse impact of income inequality and help to boost economic growth. The findings from these narratives review will provide insight into the literature gap and recommendations for future direction of studies. Future research should explore other economic variables such as globalization and the immigration of foreign workers to various sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and services, which has a significant impact on income inequality. By addressing these gaps, it allows us to understand the drivers and consequences of income inequality from multiple perspectives, leading to a more comprehensive and impactful research to contribute to academic knowledge and policymaking

Investigations on the effect of halloysite nanotubes loading on the physicochemical properties of cellulose acetate/polysulfone asymmetric membrane
Membrane-based gas separation offers practical advantages for hydrogen (H2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) separation for steam methane reforming units. Modification of membrane materials can optimize membrane performance. In this study, the central focus is on investigating the effect of different loadings of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt%) incorporated into a blend of cellulose acetate (CA) and polysulfone (PSF) polymers with the aim of improving the membrane properties. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy-attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR) results confirmed that the primary functional groups of PSF and CA remained intact upon HNTs incorporation, with no distinct HNT peaks altering the main chemical functionalities. Field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (FESEM-EDX) analyses showed that low concentrations of HNTs (0.5 wt%) improved surface smoothness and reduced macrovoids, beneficial for gas separation. Cross-sectional images of FESEM micrographs showed no evidence of obvious agglomeration, suggesting a good dispersion of HNTs. From the X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, all the membrane samples retained an amorphous structure, indicating that the incorporation of HNT has less effect on the polymer chain properties of the membranes

Purpose – As live streaming commerce becomes increasingly growing in the e-retailing environment, it is crucial to explore its role in enriching and expanding the e-services cape model within e-retailing platforms. This paper seeks to enhance and extend the online retailing e-services cape by integrating the dimensions specific to live-streaming e-commerce. Design/methodology/approach – This research employed a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with 15 participants, focusing on their e-retail live-streaming experiences in China. This method provided valuable insights into the perceptions and experiences of individuals engaged in live streaming as an extension of the e-services cape. Through thematic analysis, six dimensions of live streaming were identified as enrichments to the e-services cape framework. Findings – This paper proposes enriching the live-streaming dimension by introducing six sub-dimensions: attractiveness and authenticity, reliability and credibility, responsive lively interactions, social connectivity, celebrity influence and community consciousness. These sub-dimensions expand the e-services cape within online retail platforms. Research limitations/implications – It is anticipated that the findings will offer significant perspectives on how online consumers evaluate the importance of live-streaming attributes in the changing dynamics of the e-services cape. Practical implications – By exploring the importance of live-streaming and online purchasing experiences for customers, this insight can help create an online retail environment that is more engaging. Originality/value – To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study that thematically enriches the e-services cape by integrating the live-streaming dimension based on e-retailing. It provides a structured framework for future research to employ a quantitative approach to test the effectiveness of the enriched e-services cape resulting from the integration of live-streaming commerce with consumers’ behavioral responses
