    No full text
A new genus of the river snail family Viviparid Ae, Bakyietaia Zhang, Yen & von Rintelen gen. Nov., is described based on a comprehensive study of its morphology, anatomy, mtDNA (COI), ecology and distribution. This genus is widely distributed in South China and the Indochinese Peninsula. It can be distinguished from all other viviparid genera, especially Angulyagra, Sinotaia and Anulotaia, by characters of the columellar lip of the shell, the operculum and the marginal teeth of radula. Based on an integrative taxonomic approach, 17 species are assigned to this new genus and described here, including 7 new combinations and 10 new species: Bakyietaia subcostata gen. et comb. nov., B. polyzonata gen. et comb. Nov., B. boettgeri gen. et comb. nov., B. duchieri gen. et comb. nov., B. guangdungensis gen. et comb. nov., B. mutica gen. et comb. nov., B. wilhelmi gen. et comb. nov., B. chenghuang Zhang, Yen & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov., B. jingweiae Yen, Zhang & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov., B. liusanjieae Zhang, Yen & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov., B. avisvenatoris Yen, Zhang & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov., B. liangzhuorum Yen, Zhang & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov., B. luikongi Yen, Zhang & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov., B. fontinalis Zhang, Yen & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov., B. naiadica Zhang, Yen & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov., B. luuemxlong Zhang, Yen & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov. and B. indrapura Zhang, Yen & von Rintelen gen. et sp. nov. The monophyly of all morphospecies is supported by the COI phylogeny. Radular characters, especially the number of cusps of the outer marginal teeth, are considered valuable in the classification of species of Bakyietaia with similar shells

The world of food and nutrition is a form of heritage deeply embedded in the culture of every ethnic group, representing the transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next. Each ethnicity expresses its unique characteristics through oral traditions and actions that shape cultural accomplishments. The Javanese community is particularly well-known for the deliciousness of its cuisine, which has become a popular choice not only among the Javanese themselves but also among people from other communities. Therefore, this study examines the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that contribute to the success of food businesses among the Javanese community in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a case study involving five Javanese participants in Kota Kinabalu who are actively engaged in the food business. The findings reveal that several intrinsic and extrinsic factors serve as motivating drivers that lead to the success of Javanese entrepreneurs in the food industry. The study also presents a new finding, highlighting that the success of the 4Ps of marketing, Product, Place, Price, and Promotion, must be supported by the value of honesty for a food business to continue growing and progressing. The implications of this study provide a new dimension of knowledge and offer practical contributions to enhancing indigenous entrepreneurship, particularly in the food retail business sector. The findings of this study are also useful to the government in advancing food-based entrepreneurship globally

The comprehensive review on the organizational learning and job satisfaction among employees

    No full text
Organizational learning and job satisfaction are critical factors influencing employee outcomes and organizational success. Despite their significance, limited research has systematically reviewed how these elements interrelate across workplace contexts. This study aims to bridge this gap by conducting a systematic literature review (SLR) on organizational learning and employee job satisfaction. A structured and transparent review methodology was applied using the PRISMA protocol to ensure rigor and reproducibility. Literature searches were conducted across three major databases, Scopus, ERIC, and EconBiz, identifying 33 primary studies that met the inclusion criteria. The findings were categorized into three major thematic areas: (1) Job Satisfaction, Motivation, and Employee Performance; (2) Organizational Learning, Lifelong Learning, and Professional Development; and (3) Technological Integration and Innovation in Employee Management. The analysis reveals that organizational learning initiatives significantly enhance employee job satisfaction by fostering continuous professional growth, increasing motivation, and improving overall performance. Additionally, integrating technology and innovative management practices is key in promoting dynamic learning environments and sustaining employee engagement. These results highlight the complex but critical interplay between organizational support for learning and the satisfaction levels of employees, suggesting that investment in lifelong learning and innovative technologies is essential for maintaining high performance and retention rates. In conclusion, this SLR underscores the need for organizations to adopt holistic learning strategies and employee-centered management practices to optimize job satisfaction and performance. Future research should further explore the longitudinal effects of technological innovation on organizational learning cultures and employee development over time

This study investigates the key challenges faced by preschool teachers in delivering Early Science education and highlights the need for a systematically designed play-based learning (PBL) module. It also evaluates the necessity for structured teaching resources such as guides, activity templates, and training tools. A survey research design with a quantitative approach was employed. A total of 300 preschool teachers from Sabah, Malaysia, were selected through simple random sampling. Data was gathered using a modified version of the Needs Assessment Questionnaire, focusing on the challenges in teaching early science and the teachers' perceptions of the necessity for a PBL module. Descriptive analysis using SPSS version 28.0 revealed that the teachers encountered difficulties mastering the science content, selecting appropriate teaching strategies, managing instructional time, and effectively implementing play-based techniques. The findings highlight a significant demand for organized and play-based teaching materials in line with the National Preschool Standard Curriculum (KSPK) and the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013–2025, both of which emphasize holistic, child-centered, and inquiry-based learning. The novelty of this study lies in its proposal for a play-based early science module that supports STEM in early childhood education. The study also contributes to future research by recommending the design and pilot implementation of the module to evaluate its impact on teacher effectiveness and student learning. Furthermore, it calls for collaborative efforts among policymakers, teacher educators, and curriculum developers to ensure equitable access to quality early science education for all preschool children

Distributing Islamic pamphlets is a demand and trust that has been entrusted to every Muslim. A Muslim who carries out da'wah means that they have continued the call of the Prophet PBUH to spread Islam in the eyes of the world. Even so, there are still preachers who fail in their preaching calls because they do not understand the ins and outs of the struggle for the Prophet PBUH. This study aims to see the implementation of da'wah that is suitable for the Bugis community in Sabah who still adhere to the customs and rituals of their ancestors before. This study uses qualitative methods and participates in the landscape of life of the Bugis community. The findings of this study found several methods of da'wah implementation that are suitable to be applied to the Bugis community in Sabah such as using the approach of al-hikmah, mujadalah, taaruf, da'wah bi al-hal, the attraction of preachers, da'wah bi al-lisan and preachers as counsellors. The appropriate da'wah approach used according to the wishes of the da'wah recipients is undoubtedly the main indicator and determinant of success in Islamic da'wah activities

Unveiling the link between leverage and firm performance: A comparative analysis of sharia and non-sharia compliant firms in the Indonesia stock exchange

    No full text
This study investigates the influence of leverage on the performance of non-financial sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2012 and 2021. The analysis is segmented into three subsets: all companies, Sharia-compliant firms, and non-Sharia-compliant firms. Leverage is gauged through four metrics: debt to total asset ratio (DAR), debt to total equity ratio (DER), short-term debt to total assets (STD), and long-term debt to total assets (LTD). Firm performance is evaluated using return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and Tobin's Q. The study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing data from publicly listed companies. Leverage and performance are quantified using the specified metrics. Statistical analyses, including regression models, are conducted to examine the relationship between leverage and performance in each of the three subsets. The primary findings indicate a negative and statistically significant correlation between leverage and firm performance, as measured by ROA and ROE, across all company subsets. However, there is a positive and statistically significant impact of leverage on Tobin's Q. A more detailed analysis within the Sharia-compliant subset reveals a negative impact of leverage on all leverage indicators concerning ROA and ROE. In contrast, within the non-Sharia-compliant subset, leverage has a negative and statistically significant influence on ROA and ROE, but a positive and statistically significant effect on Tobin's Q. These empirical findings suggest that leverage has a detrimental and statistically significant association with a firm's accounting performance, as evidenced by ROA and ROE. However, it exerts a positive and statistically significant effect on the firm's market performance, as indicated by Tobin's Q. This underscores the importance of carefully managing leverage, particularly for firms operating within the Indonesian non-financial sector, to strike a balance between accounting and market performance objectives
