    The relationship between organizational justice and innovative behavior in China’s digital talents: The moderating effect of flexible work arrangement

    In today’s highly competitive global market, innovation is essential for corporate sustainability. In the context of increasing technological restrictions imposed by Western nations, China faces heightened pressure to strengthen its domestic innovation capacity. This study highlights the critical role of organizational justice comprising distributive, procedural, interpersonal, and informational justice in fostering employee innovative behavior. A just organizational environment enhances employees' innovation-related awareness and behavior, thereby contributing to both corporate resilience and national technological advancement. Amid the post-pandemic shift toward flexible work arrangements, many digital nomads are gravitating toward Southeast Asia in pursuit of lower living costs and improved work-life balance, which in turn fosters greater innovation. Drawing upon self-determination theory, this study analyses data from 406 participants and confirms that organizational justice positively influences the innovative behavior of digital talents in China. However, flexible work arrangements are found to only partially moderate this relationship. The findings offer practical implications for policymakers, business leaders, and digital professionals. Promoting organizational justice can serve as a strategic response to technological sanctions and support national self-reliance. In the context of China’s demanding 996 work culture, flexible work arrangements may help alleviate burnout, stimulate innovation, and enhance competitive advantage. For individuals, maintaining autonomy and work life balance is essential for sustaining innovation and achieving long-term career satisfaction, thereby contributing to broader technological progress

    “An international experience in an English class is…”: An examination of postgraduate students’ perspectives

    It is important to understand students’ perspectives about their international experience in an English class because this would help practitioners in their teaching practice and material development. In this study, these perspectives were collected through an open-ended questionnaire that was distributed to 35 groups of international postgraduate students. All these students were enrolled in an academic writing course at a university in Singapore. The questionnaire asked participants for their thoughts and opinions on English lessons that were designed with an international focus. The data was then analyzed through a corpus tool, which identified recurring words. The contextual meanings of these recurring words were then thematized. The main findings saw the themes of “different yet inclusive”; “spurring improvements in writing”; and “learning affordances through native language”. These themes indicated that the participants viewed the international experience as bringing together different perspectives, including an extent of local knowledge and practices. The latter was exemplified through the use of their native language to better understand academic communication in English. Nonetheless, the findings also point towards an ideological tension as postgraduate international students would still need to develop an acceptable level of English language proficiency. This study thus highlights the complexities involved in creating an inclusive and effective English for academic purposes (EAP) course as part of an international experience at the university

    The influence of parenting styles and child-parent relationship on home literacy environment: Empirical evidence from Malaysia

    Early literacy skills develop in the home environment with parenting approaches and the relationships between parents and children serving as the main influencing factors. This study examines the impact of parenting styles and child-parent relationships on the home literacy environment (HLE) among Chinese preschoolers in Malaysia. 385 mothers of Chinese preschoolers from Kota Kinabalu participated in a survey through questionnaires whereby key variables were assessed. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analyses were utilized to analyze data. The descriptive findings indicated that most mothers had adopted an authoritarian parenting approach, perceived a close relationship with their child and reported a high level of HLE with their Chinese preschoolers. Furthermore, Pearson's correlation analysis revealed that there was neither a significant relationship between HLE and parenting approaches nor with the child-parent relationship. Hence, there are no substantial influences of parenting styles and child-parent relationships on HLE. These findings underscore the empirical evidence of family and community factors on early childhood home literacy environment outcomes. This study provides valuable insights for teachers, parents and policymakers to design targeted interventions

    Kundasang Aquafarm is a tech-driven business utilizing aquaponic technology, founded by alumni of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). Combining aquaculture and hydroponics, aquaponics offers an efficient and eco-friendly solution for sustainable agriculture. To expand its market reach and enhance customer engagement, Aquafarm has embraced digital marketing through social media platforms and an official website, incorporating innovations like barcodes for customer feedback collection. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Kundasang Aquafarm's online marketing strategies, focusing on brand awareness, customer engagement, and user experience. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, gathering data through in-depth interviews with Aquafarm’s management, content analysis of social media and the website, and customer experience surveys. Findings reveal that digital marketing via social media significantly boosts product visibility and educates audiences about the advantages of aquaponics. However, challenges include inconsistent content management and the need for improved digital customer interaction features. The study identifies that optimizing digital marketing strategies—such as consistent content creation, enhanced customer service features, and technology driven communication innovations—can strengthen Kundasang Aquafarm’s competitiveness in the online market. This research aims to serve as a reference for similar businesses seeking to implement tech-based marketing strategies in the agribusiness sector

    Conceptualizing perceived brand globbiness vs localness: Insights into Malaysian consumer preferences and purchase intentions

    As globalization intensifies and spreads, it becomes important for marketers to appreciate the way consumers perceive global and local brands. This study seeks to assess the impact of Perceived Brand Globbiness (PBG) and Perceived Brand Localness (PBL) towards brand trust, brand equity and purchase intention amongst Malaysian consumers. This study will employ Signaling Theory, the Consumer Based Brand Equity (CBBE) Model, and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to develop a conceptual framework to address these relations. The study uses quantitative research methods adopting purposive sampling techniques to engage 200 Malaysian consumers who purchase both global and local brands on a regular basis. Data analysis will be conducted in understanding the relationship between the variables. The findings are expected to indicate the factors that brand trust, brand equity and purchase intention in global versus local brand perception. This study will be beneficial to marketers in formulating plans that meet both local and global perspectives. The research provides the theoretical basis for the understanding of branding in pluralistic and developing market settings

    Exploring global perspectives on income inequality research

    Income inequality remains a pressing global issue, particularly in developing nations, emerging economies, and even advanced countries where wage gaps, wealth concentration, and social context challenges develops. Consequently, this paper conducts a bibliometric analysis of income inequality research to identify the key trends, influential authors, productive countries, and significant publications. Using data from Scopus and tools like Hazing Publish or Perish, VOS viewer and Bibliophagy, we examined 456 publications from 1982 to 2025 through performance analysis and science mapping. Findings reveal a significant rise in re-search output after year 2015, with strong relationships between income inequality with pub-lic policy, health, and sustainability

    Utilizing team-based project research in improving scientific thinking skills among social studies students in higher education

    Scientific thinking is a critical competency for navigating the complexities of the global era, requiring the application of scientific methods to understand, analyze, and evaluate diverse phenomena and problems. This study examines the effectiveness of Team-Based Project Research (TBPR) in enhancing scientific thinking skills among students of the Social Studies Education program at the State University of Surabaya. A quantitative time-series experimental design was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using t-tests and ANOVA to test the hypotheses. The findings indicate that: (1) TBPR provides a systematic conceptual framework that supports pedagogical objectives through a structured sequence of research phases, ranging from problem identification to data analysis and reflection; (2) the implementation of TBPR significantly enhances students’ scientific thinking skills in higher education; and (3) TBPR functions as an effective instructional model that promotes active knowledge construction, collaborative learning, and the development of higher-order scientific reasoning. These results suggest that higher education institutions should adopt and further refine TBPR to strengthen students’ scientific thinking abilities and collaborative research competencies

    Brain tumor detection and size estimation using microwave imaging

    This project focuses on developing an antenna that utilising microwave imaging technology for visualising, detecting, and estimating the size of human tumors using simulation approach. A rectangular microstrip patch antenna is chosen for its advantages of low cost, convenience, efficiency, and compactness, offering a non-ionised alternative. To meet the antenna specifications, rectangular slots are incorporated into the design. The antenna performs effectively at 7.5 GHz, exhibiting a return loss of -24.20383 dB, well below the -10 dB threshold. Placing the antenna 15 mm away from the human brain model results in a specific absorption rate (SAR) value of 0.2 W/kg for 10g, indicating its safety for brain imaging. By scanning a human head phantom with and without a tumor, the antenna captures reflected signals from different locations, enabling the generation of tumour images. A 10-mm-radius tumor is introduced to the phantom, and the unique reflected signal serves as an indicator for tumor detection, using the signal without a tumor as a reference. MATLAB software is employed for image processing, allowing the generation of tumour images and the estimation of tumor size. The simulation results demonstrate 63% accuracy in tumor size estimation. In conclusion, the antenna proves to be a safe and effective brain imaging system for tumor detection

    Implementation of the ksor method for solving one-dimensional time-fractional parabolic partial differential equations with the caputo finite difference scheme title of manuscript

    This study presents numerical solution of time-fractional linear parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs) using the Caputo finite difference scheme. The discretization process is based on the second-order implicit finite difference scheme and the Caputo fractional derivative operator. The resulting system of linear approximation equations is solved using the Kaudd Successive Over Relaxation (KSOR) iterative method. A comparison is made with the Gauss-Seidel (GS) iterative method through three numerical examples. The results demonstrate that the KSOR method requires fewer iterations and reduced computational time compared to the GS method
