The Expansion of Lifelong Education at the University of Oxford University in the Ukin the latter half of 19th century
Higher education at Oxford University in the UK was designed to nurture a privileged elite. For that reason, the path to opening up universities as a means of spreading education can be said to have been a process that brought about a major shift in the role and impact of educational institutions towards social change. This paper analyzes the "University Extension" that unfolded at Oxford University in the 19th century, the history of the university opening to a wider range of citizens, and the historical background of the time. Primarily interpreting L. Goldman's book "Dons and Workers-Oxford and Adult Education Since 1850," this paper clarifies the role of universities in society and local communities, and organizes it in a way that raises questions for reconsidering the role of universities today.departmental bulletin pape
Physical fitness of new students at Konan University -Based on measurements from 2009 to 2024-
The purpose of this study was to determine the status and trends in the physique and physical fitness of new students at Konan University to provide a basis for examining the future content of university physical education. The main results are as follows. (1)The most common body size assessment by BMI was normal weight (18.5 ≤ BMI<25) for both men and women, but a certain number of students were classified as obese (25 ≤ BMI~) or underweight (BMI <18.5) in each year. (2)The average values of grip strength, long body forward bending, and repetitive lateral jumping of new students at Konan University were slightly lower than the national average for both males and females. (3)The average values of the 20-meter shuttle run and 50-meter run of new Konan University students were slightly higher than the national average for both males and females. (4)The average physical fitness test scores of new students at Konan University showed a gradual downward trend in grip strength, shuttle run, and handball throw for both males and females, but a gradual upward trend in the other events.departmental bulletin pape
departmental bulletin pape
departmental bulletin pape

Teaching Method of Honorifics Based on Actual Language Usage: The Analysis of Japanese Language Textbooks for Junior High School
In junior high school Japanese language textbooks, double honorifics are presented as incorrect. However, the “Guidelines for Honorific Language” and “Survey of Public Opinion on the Japanese Language” show the current situation in which double honorifics are being tolerated or even being accepted. This paper investigates the use of double honorifics in modern Japanese and discusses how the results of this investigation can be applied to the teaching of Japanese language at junior high schools. Although “onakunari ni narareru” has been found to occasionally be used, it is an appropriate example of incorrect honorific use as it is generally seen as incorrect by most native speakers. Conversely, “omeshi ni naru” meaning “to wear” or “to catch a cold” is considered to be generally well-established, and should be introduced as a double honorific that is acceptable and used. Thus, the results of the survey in this paper can be used to present incorrect examples of double honorifics and to present specific examples of double honorifics that have been established as conventional, thereby making it possible to teach honorifics in a way that suits the actual usage.departmental bulletin pape
