application/pdfThe COVID-19 began to spread in 2019 and has led to significant restrictions on human contact and interaction around the world. At Japanese universities, the disease had a large impact on university students' lives, studies and mental health. In September 2022, the in-person classes have been implemented to a large extent and the interaction between students seem to be active again, however, university students who entered the university in 2020 and 2021 are strongly affected by the restrictions in 2020 and 2021 and are likely to face many difficulties in their studies, lives, and thus experienced psychological distress. In this paper, we first overview university events and classes that were generally held before the pandemic, as well as activities in clubs and interaction with their friends and examine what kind of role it played in the adaptation of the first-year students. Next, we will discuss the situations experienced and challenges faced by them and explore what kind of relationship and support is needed for students who have insufficient experience in their university life due to pandemic.departmental bulletin pape

application/pdfIn this paper, we will examine the characteristic subjectivity of contemporary Japanese university students from the perspective of "mimicry". \n"Mimicry" refers to the behavior of animals and insects that mimic their surroundings, usually in order to protect themselves from predators or to catch prey.\nIn the present age, when the importance of diversity has been pointed out, social structures and norms have loosened, and there may be more than a few young people who try to adapt and survive by "mimicry", responding immediately to the surrounding environment and the needs of others, rather than establishing their own individual identity. In counseling students who have problems with their subjectivity, it is important to respond with appropriate insight into the nature of their subjectivity.departmental bulletin pape
