LocUsT: a tool for checking usage policies

    No full text
We introduce LocUsT, a tool to statically check whether a given resource usage complies with a local policy. LocUsT takes as input an abstraction of the behaviour of a program, called a usage. Usages are expressed in a simple process calculus, and over-approximate all the resource accesses of the program itself. As additional input, LocUsT takes a policy that defines the allowed resource access patterns, represented through a finite state automaton parametrized over resources. Finally, LocUsT decides whether some trace of the given usage violates some instantiation of the policy

JavaΩ\Omega: The Structures and the Implementation of a Preprocessor for Java with m\_parameters

    No full text
In \cite{bellia2008} an extension of Java is described which allows methods to have other methods as parameters and a meaning preserving transformation is defined, which maps programs in the extended language into ordinary Java programs. In this paper we present an implementation for such extended language, based on the transformation defined. We also discuss the integration of the programs in the extended language with ordinary first order programs, and hence Java API . Eventually the language is extended with mc\_parameters for which an implementation with callbacks \cite{horstmann2007} is shown

Supporting user-friendly design of flexible Business Processes in StPowla

The integration of BPM and SOA has the potential to lead to increased agility, lower development and maintenance costs and a better alignment between business and IT. However, it still requires large efforts by highly skilled personnel. The Service-Targeted Policy-Oriented WorkfLow Approach attacks this problem by integrating workflows and services with policies to clearly distinguish between the core process description and the variations. This paper presents a first assessment of the impact of the approach on the design of business processes. To this end, we exploit a case study, namely the activation of VoIP services by a re-seller of telecommunication services

Large N transition in the 2D SU(N)xSU(N) nonlinear sigma model

    No full text
We consider the characteristic polynomial associated with the smoothed two point function in two dimensional large N principal chiral model. We numerically show that it undergoes a transition at a critical distance of the order of the correlation length. The transition is in the same universality class as two dimensional large N QCD

Il Palazzo Pretorio di Anghiari nel XX secolo. Terremoti, restauri e derestauri.

    Get PDF
The Pretorio Building, in Anghiari town center, today shows a complex history of transformations and restaurations. Most of them were due to important seismic events that, since the XIII century, have been widely documented. Starting from the XX century, the main interventions followed the damages caused by earthquakes that held from the 1917 to the 2001. Today the Building is object of a restauration project and seismic improvement as provided from the recent Lines for the evaluation and reduction of the seismic risk of the cultural patrimony.

    Rheological Properties of Asphalt/SBS/Clay Blends

    No full text
SUMMARY The effect of the addition of clay as a third component in polymer modified asphalts has been investigated. After a preliminary investigation on the binary asphalt/clay and polymer/clay blends, the tertiary blends were prepared by adding the clay and polymer to the asphalt, either separately or in the form of a premixed master batch. Intercalated nanocomposites with comparable interlayer distances and glass transition temperatures were obtained in both cases. However, the results show that the mixing procedure significantly affected the final rheological properties. The master curves built in the linear viscoelastic range and represented in both the frequency and the temperature domains help to visualize and evaluate such differences

Eosinophils and Trichinella infection: toxic for the parasite and the host?

    No full text
Peripheral blood and tissue eosinophilia characterize trichinellosis in humans, and present in addition to the increased total IgE levels that occur in many helminth infections. Both processes are the consequence of T-helper 2 activation. Blood and tissue eosinophilia begins with eosinophilopoiesis in the bone marrow, which is followed by the migration of eosinophils through the circulatory system, the eosinophil infiltration of tissues at the inflammatory foci and, finally, degranulation and cell death. Recently, some aspects of eosinophilia caused by Trichinella spiralis infection have been elucidated; however, the protective role of this population of cells against Trichinella parasites remains controversial. Furthermore, when eosinophils are numerous, they can be toxic for host tissues. This review discusses these issues in both human and rodent infection models

SUMMARY Food and drink products are a major part of the cultural identity of European populations and regions. The European Union protects by legislation particular product names which are linked to a territory or to a production method. In 1992 the European Union created systems known as PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) to promote and protect valuable food names. In March 2006 these systems were updated and improved. Farmers and comsumers in Europe and around the world show an increasing interest in the qualities of traditional products. PDO-PGI means the name of a region, a specific place or, in exceptional cases, a country, used to describe an agricultural product or a foodstuff

SUMMARY The European Union CoreGRID project aims at encouraging collaboration among european research institutes. One target of such project is the design of an innovative Grid Infrastructure architecture, specifically addressing two challenging aspects of such entity: scalability and security. This paper outlines the results of such activity, ideally extending the content of the official deliverable document

Left invertibility of discrete systems with finite inputs and quantized output

    No full text
The aim of this paper is to address left invertibility for dynamical systems with inputs and outputs in discrete sets. We study systems that evolve in discrete time within a continuous state-space. Quantized outputs are generated by the system according to a given partition of the state-space, while inputs are arbitrary sequences of symbols in a finite alphabet, which are associated to specific actions on the system. We restrict to the case of contractive dynamics for fixed inputs. The problem of left invertibility, i.e. recovering an unknown input sequence from the knowledge of the corresponding output string, is addressed using the theory of Iterated Function Systems (IFS), a tool developed for the study of fractals. We show how the IFS naturally associated to a system and the geometric properties of its attractor are linked to the left invertibility property of the system. Our main results are a necessary and sufficient condition for a given system to be left invertible with probability one on the space of inputs (i.e. for almost all input sequences), and necessary and sufficient conditions for left invertibility and uniform left invertibility under some weak additional hypotheses. A few examples are presented to illustrate the application of the proposed method
