Identifying fault system and basement depth using aeromagnetic data beneath the Jahamah Platform, NE Sirt basin, Libya
The Jahamah Platform is a part of a structural depression called the Sirt basin, located in the northern central part of Libya. The Jahamah Platform spans latitude 29.95° N to 30.55° N and longitudes 19.32° E to 19.77° E with an estimated area of about 2,187 km2. Libyan Petroleum Institute provided the data of aeromagnetic that was used in this study. The data was used to study the structure beneath the Jahamah Platform by using Oasis montaj software. Various filters from the software have been applied to enhance determining the fault system within the study area. An RTP filter was applied to the magnetic data to construct a reduction to the pole anomaly map. The subsurface structural elements underneath the study area were identified using Total horizontal derivative (THD), CET analysis, and Euler deconvolution. 2-D forward modelling of the area was constructed based on gravity data, and then the basement depth was estimated to range from 2.2 km to 3.1 km based on the model. Based on the interpretation of the constructed maps, the area has a number of faults that trend in NE-SW, NNW-SSE, N-S and NW-SE and faults depth ranging between 790 m to 3102 m
Antimicrobial synthetic and natural polymeric nanofibers as wound dressing: A review
Since ancient times, wound dressings have experienced many significant improvements. Evolution began using natural materials to merely cover wounds and advanced to used innovative techniques that can be customized to perform different impressive functions. Recent wound dressings, which are made of electrospun polymers, contain different active compounds, such as antimicrobial agents, that aid in wound healing and prevent dehydration and infection. The mentioned issues may influence the healing process, leading even to serious health risks for the patients. As a result, scientists are now working on novel wound bandages with improved antimicrobial properties. Electrospun polymeric nanofibers, because of their structural similarities to normal skin's extracellular matrix (ECM), bactericidal activity, and appropriateness to distribute bioactive molecules to the wound location, are regarded as good resources for enhancing skin regeneration and controlling wound infection. Herein, the latest findings on approaches for producing antimicrobial polymeric nanofibers using electrospinning and related processes are discussed. Recent advances in antibacterial biopolymeric nanofibers incorporating antimicrobial nanoparticles (silver, zinc oxide, copper oxide, etc.) are discussed. This review paper may raise significant issues, encourage additional research, and offer important insight into the potential area of antibacterial polymeric fibers
Aspects of political, economic and social life in the era of Imam Al-Tawudi
Discussing a scholarly figure that is known in the Maliki school of thought - and whose name was associated with one of the most important explanations in Khalil’s Mukhtasar- requires any researcher of Maliki jurisprudence to present the general conditions in which Imam al- Tawudi lived in, and to shed a light on some crucial aspects, especially knowing that he was one of the scholars of Faz city in Morocco (died 1209AH), where the scholars have a special presence and a distinguished position in this school of thought. He also had a prominent presence in the events that happened in Morocco during that period. Henceforth, this study aims to shed a light on aspects of this era to know the environment in which the Imam was raised and how it impacted him. This study (Aspects of the political, economic and social life in the era of Imam Al-Tawudi) is divided into two sections; the first section includes a general background of Imam Al-Tawudi bin Souda, and the second section discussed the circumstances accompanying the life of Imam Al-Tawudi. The second section is divided into four subsections namely, the political aspect, the economic aspect, the social aspect, and cases of religious issues that were discussed by the scholars in that period. The researcher used the historical, the descriptive, and the inductive method to reach the goals of this study
The role of pricing and product knowledge on Malaysian consumers’ green purchase intention
Green consumption has also risen globally to prevent further damages to the environment. Therefore, it is important to understand the intent of consumers to buy environmentally friendly products as the willingness to buy green products will maintain and protect the quality of natural environment, thus contribute to sustainable environmental development. Even though the number of consumers ready to purchase green products has increased in recent years, there is no indication that this trend would increase in Malaysia. As such, to address the limitations and to cope with the green purchase intention issues, this study aims to propose a framework to investigate the relationships between attitudes, subjective norms, perceive behavior control, product knowledge, price and green purchase intention among consumers in Malaysia by application of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model. The modifications to the original TPB structure help to identify potential factors that affect consumers’ willingness to purchase green products. This study employed an online survey and collected 216 questionnaires from Malaysian respondents aged 18 years old and above by using a purposive sampling method. Multiple regression analysis was employed for data analysis. The findings indicated that attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control and product knowledge have a positive and significant relationship with green purchase intention while price has a negative and significant relationship with green purchase intention. Using the findings of the study, marketers could understand the potential factors that affect consumers’ willingness to purchase green products. The findings of the study can be a guideline for future studies to determine the customers' intentions for environmentally friendly products
Incorporating informed consent in 3D bioprinting medical treatment
3D Bioprinting is a rapidly emerging technology and has the potential to benefit future medical and healthcare sectors. However, 3D bioprinting are facing challenges in its implementation particularly with regards to patient’s consent. There are two research objectives in this study, firstly, to examine the doctrine of informed consent and its application in medical treatment using 3D bioprinting and secondly, to recommend changes in Consent Guidelines in Malaysian Medical Council incorporating informed consent guideline for medical treatment using 3D bioprinting. This study contributes in the field of 3D bioprinting and it has expanded the discussion on doctrine of informed consent by applying it into 3D bioprinting. This is a qualitative study which employs content analysis method. Findings shows that there is a dire need for a clear guideline for medical practitioner to get patient’s consent in receiving medical treatment particularly by using 3D bioprinting in order to avoid any claims and suits that occurs due to medical negligence in specific, failing to ensure informed consent is obtained from patient before medical treatment is done. It is recommended to update the Malaysian Medical Council to update the guideline on obtaining informed consent in 3D bioprinting medical treatment. Future studies can address the application of informed consent in medical treatment using 3D bioprinting through quantitative study
Advanced technology in agriculture industry by implementing image annotation technique and deep learning approach: A review
The implementation of intelligent technology in agriculture is seriously investigated as a way to increase agriculture production while reducing the amount of human labor. In agriculture, recent technology has seen image annotation utilizing deep learning techniques. Due to the rapid development of image data, image annotation has gained a lot of attention. The use of deep learning in image annotation can extract features from images and has been shown to analyze enormous amounts of data successfully. Deep learning is a type of machine learning method inspired by the structure of the human brain and based on artificial neural network concepts. Through training phases that can label a massive amount of data and connect them up with their corresponding characteristics, deep learning can conclude unlabeled data in image processing. For complicated and ambiguous situations, deep learning technology provides accurate predictions. This technology strives to improve productivity, quality and economy and minimize deficiency rates in the agriculture industry. As a result, this article discusses the application of image annotation in the agriculture industry utilizing several deep learning approaches. Various types of annotations that were used to train the images are presented. Recent publications have been reviewed on the basis of their application of deep learning with current advancement technology. Plant recognition, disease detection, counting, classification and yield estimation are among the many advancements of deep learning architecture employed in many applications in agriculture that are thoroughly investigated. Furthermore, this review helps to assist researchers to gain a deeper understanding and future application of deep learning in agriculture. According to all of the articles, the deep learning technique has successfully created significant accuracy and prediction in the model utilized. Finally, the existing challenges and future promises of deep learning in agriculture are discussed
Automated guided vehicle robot localization with sensor fusion
Robot localization is vital for the operation of an automated guided vehicle (AGV) but is susceptible to problems such as wheel slip. With more sensors fused together, the more environmental information can be collected by the AGV, which helps with the localization of AGV. Inertial measurement unit (IMU) and global positioning unit (GPS) are usually implemented to improve robot localization but are susceptible to noise and are effective outdoors. Indoors, however, are more suitable with light detection and ranging (lidar) device. This paper implements extended Kalman filter (EKF) and unscented Kalman filter (UKF) for robot localization on AGV. AGV localization was tested with EKF and UKF on three different test tracks with different turn conditions. The performance of the EKF and UKF was compared to each other. Different sensors were implemented along with sensor fusion. UKF generates better odometry estimation than EKF with 24.07% better accuracy. With the usage of lidar, wheel slip was compensated
Conceptual framework of Kaizen practices on organizational performance
The purpose of this study is to examine the Kaizen practices has a significant influence on organizational performance. Researchers will use a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to obtain data from respondents. This paper is prepared by reviewing the relevant literature on the Kaizen practices. The conceptual framework developed in this study can be used as a guideline for implementing Kaizen practices and organizational performance. The researchers concluded that Kaizen practices is appropriate to be implemented in higher education institutions because it provides a great advantage to the performance of the organization. Therefore, higher education institutions need to implement Kaizen practices to create a culture of continuous improvement to improve the education system in the future
An integrated approach of 4G LTE and DSRC (IEEE 802.11p) for Internet of Vehicles (IoV) by using a novel cluster-based efficient radio interface selection algorithm to improve Vehicular Network (VN) performance
Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is a distributed network supporting V2X communications. Two potential technologies of V2X communications are dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) and cellular network technologies. DSRC provides low latency with direct connectivity to connect vehicles in a distributed manner. However, it suffers from reliability and serious link degradation problems. In contrast, cellular network offers high capacity, wider cell coverage range but suffers from high latencies due to long transmission time intervals. Hence, cellular networks limit their ability to support low-latency V2V communications, jeopardizing the effectiveness of safety applications. Hence, considering the above issues, single technology might not suffice the requirements of V2X applications under varying vehicle density scenarios. Therefore, for efficient V2X communications, it is required to interwork with DSRC and cellular technologies. Most of the existing solutions were based on either DSRC alone or cellular networks alone. Very few research works evaluated the performance of vehicular networks using hybrid approach. This paper reviews potential DSRC and wireless integrated solutions for efficient vehicular communications. Secondly, we highlight the limitations of each supporting vehicular communications. Then, we provide brief comparative analysis of each paper. Finally, we propose our algorithm to integrate DSRC and 4G LTE with novel optimal clustering-based data forwarding protocol for efficient data transmission in IoV. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated in terms of end-to-end delay and throughput and compared with the existing approaches using NS-3 simulation tool
Work-life balance and employee performance in selected manufacturing company
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between work-life balance (WLB) and employee performance. Specifically, based on Hayman’s (2005) concept on WLB, the authors tested how four dimensions in WLB are correlated to employee performance. Furthermore, employee performance constructs were derived from the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ) developed by (Koopmans et al., 2013). Using a survey questionnaire, this research was conducted with sample of 132 employees from a selected manufacturing company in Johor, Malaysia. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics such as mean, frequency, percentage, and coefficient correlation. The findings revealed overall WLB level and employee performance level were moderate among respondents. A weak correlation was found between WLB and employee performance in the study, but a positive correlation existed. An organization must understand that employees' ability to perform is determined by their opportunity and willingness to perform, as well as how much effort they are willing to put forth. It is less likely that individuals will be helpful at work when role conflict is increased, so organizations can benefit from practicing and promoting WLB
