Performing a gender analysis allowed us to develop responses that better gave remedy on gender-based disparities. This study aimed to analyze post millennial’s attitudinal response on gender stereotyping depicted in the play “Death of a Salesman” written by Arthur Miller. Responses were acquired and presented according to the Gender Analysis Framework on Equality (Access, Conscientisation, Control, Participation & Welfare) originally devised by Sarah Llupekile Longwe. Fifty Grade 9 students became participants through random sampling. Descriptive-analytical design was used employing qualitative approach and thematic analysis for the theming of responses. Results revealed that students were more open to gender equality having accepted the notion that women should have equal access, conscientisation, participation, control and welfare with men in terms of career-opportunities, domestic task, decision-making, giving of advices and role expectations. They emphasized that equal rights and equal social role expectations established and strengthened family stability and success

The Robert J. Cox Online Archive: A Preview (Part I). Human Rights, Civil Society, the Media, and Political Power: Continuities and Discontinuities in the Decades of 1970-1980 & 2010-2020

The papers of R. J. Cox, former editor of the Buenos Aires Herald, shed light on two sets of issues: 1. Debates about recent history (e.g., Argentina’s human rights movement vis-a-vis its international correlates; the US/Latin America relationship during the 1970s; the role of the press); 2. Current discussions regarding the weakening of trust in institutions constitutive of liberal democracies—from trust in governments to trust in the media. These sets of issues are interrelated: concerns about the reliability of the media, and the allegedly partisan use of human rights policies, for instance, straddle many contemporary sociopolitical debates

ADVANCING NATO'S QUALITY ASSURANCE EDUCATION BY IMPLEMENTING THE 'LEARN-WATCH-ASK' TRAINING MODEL

    Get PDF
The paper introduces a detailed analysis and a method of implementing the "Learn-Watch-Ask" (LWA) training model, as a potential solution, to enhance quality assurance training within NATO. By addressing the fast-evolving demands of specialized domains, the LWA model integrates digital tools with traditional teaching methods to create a learning experience that is responsive to the student`s needs. The model is comprised of three interdependent components: the Learn module, represented by a structured online course; the Watch module, supported by a specialized YouTube channel for enhanced visual understanding; and the Ask module, created with an AI-driven chatbot for interactive learning. This innovative approach supports diverse learning styles, offering 24/7 accessibility and effectiveness. The paper further digs deeper into the identified shortcomings of traditional training models, emphasizing the need for practical, visual, and interactive elements in modern education. It explores the integration of the IBM WatsonX Assistant as a conversational AI chatbot in the LWA model, highlighting its advantages in providing consistent, accurate, and user-friendly interactions over Generative Pre-Trained (GPT) AI models. Additionally, a 7-step process for adapting the LWA model to various domains is outlined, as well as the description of a comprehensive continuous improvement loop for the IBM WatsonX Assistant, ensuring its relevance and efficiency in the rapidly evolving educational landscape. The LWA model, with its unique approach to modern educational techniques, not only enhances the learning experience for NATO’s Quality Assurance Course (M7-137) but also has the potential to be adapted across various specialized domains, promising a more effective and efficient workforce

Plenary: "Are There Transgender Characters in Shakespeare?" Blackfriars Conference, American Shakespeare Center, Staunton, Virginia, November 4, 2023.

Video recording of Alexa Alice Joubin's plenary is available on YouTube, https://youtu.be/8P5nNv86goQ There are certainly non-binary actors on stage, but are there Shakespearean characters who can be read as trans? The answer is yes. To ask whether there are transgender characters is to ask questions about the performance of gender roles. We are also asking questions about the articulation of gender in early modern and modern times. All utterances retain a level of openness, because meanings emerge contextually over time in drama. There are many transgender characters historically, but their presence is not seen or acknowledged. There is a literal-minded cultural tendency to seek false clarity. We should suspend cisgender sexism rather than engage in suspension of disbelief regarding gender crossings. Shakespearean theatre is trans theatre. But current legislation criminalizes transgender people and performance. These anti-trans attitudes endanger classical and Shakespearean theatre, which is why high-school drama programs are withering and theatre festivals are shrinking

Una lectura del método sociológico: Emile Durkheim y el estudio científico de las formaciones sociales

    No full text
