Stoler, Paul (2023). Some memories of lifetime through years of paintings. In: "Global Humanities and Liberal Arts", Wang, Lawrence K. (Editor). Volume 2023, Number 6, 2023(6), June 25, 2023, 28 pages. Lenox Institute Press, MA, USA. [email protected]; [email protected]. ..... ABSTRACT: This work consists of a collection of paintings invoking some of my memories. Janet and I were married and started a life in Troy, New York, USA, 57 years ago where we raised a wonderful family. Some of these paintings include the following themes: our home life with family, my impressions of Troy’s urban plight in the 1960s and 70s, our periods of travel and residence in Paris, and my visit to Verchivka, Ukraine. There is also a group of paintings in this collection, made over the years, relating to the basic existential question faced by every human - who am I and why am I here? ..... ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Toh-Ming Lu, who first made me aware of the possibility of producing this work and introducing me to Larry Wang of the Lenox Institute. Larry Wang of the Lenox Institute, for generously agreeing to publish this, and guiding me through this. Janet Stoler, my wife and companion for encouragement, advice, and for helping to edit this work. .. NOTE: I grew up in Brooklyn, together with my brother Larry and sister Matel. Our parents were immigrants from Poland and Ukraine. I attended Brooklyn College, and then obtained a PhD from Rutgers University where I met my future wife Janet. I was a physics professor at RPI 50 years, beginning in 1966. Janet and I have had 57 wonderful years together raising our family: daughter Lisa and son David. We travelled around the world , many of which were made possible through my worldwide physics research collaborations

Ramón Garay (1761-1823). Obra musical sacra en latín (Ramón Garay (1761-1823). Latin Sacred Musical Output)

    No full text
Eighteenth-century Spanish music experienced a golden age thanks, especially, to the proliferation of centers such as the chapels, which articulated and structured the musical life of our cities: the main sound activity was centered on ecclesiastical music, both liturgical and paraliturgical, with which religious festivities were solemnized. Within this framework of creativity, the performance of chapel masters such as Ramón Garay stands out. The edition of his ecclesiastical music in Latin follows the scientific standards that a musicological research requires and the musical edition itself, of a critical nature, is very careful: in addition to the inclusion of incipits, it incorporates cards of each work in which the main aspects related to the sources and their transmission, the template, the formal structure, the critical notes or the edition of the Latin texts with their respective translations are made known. But its work is not limited to the transcription of the music: it also includes an extensive study on the state of the question, the objectives and methodology, as well as the historical musical context of Spain and Jaén in Garay's time, in addition to his biography and the study of his musical work

“Experience has shown pastoral caregivers that individuals do seem to cope better if they can "actualize" their spiritual experiences in times of crisis.” A substantial amount of interest in spiritual experiences recently appears to be from a re-emergence of interest from the (unofficial) pastoral school of thought in psychology. For instance, the authors (Easterling et al) observe that “Conversely, experience has shown pastoral caregivers that individuals do seem to cope better if they can "actualize" their spiritual experiences in times of crisis. (Spiritual Experience, Church Attendance, and Bereavement,” by Larry W. Easterling, Th. D, Louis A. Gamino, Ph.D., Kenneth W. Sewell, Ph.D., Linda S. Stirman, B.S.N) Then there is the article on “Children’s Grief Dreams and the Theory of Spiritual Intelligence” by Kate Adams Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln Brendan Hyde Australian Catholic University

The Deeper Dimension of Einstein, Pargament, Wong - Awareness, Orientation + Attention - Klinger and neuroscience " Albert Einstein: "t would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense!"

    No full text
Kenneth Pargament vigorously argues that, "There is a deeper dimension to our problems. Illness, accident, interpersonal conflicts, divorce, layoffs, and death are more than "significant life events." They raise profound and disturbing questions about our place and purpose in the world, they point to the limits of and underscore our finitude." (p. 11 Spiritually integrated Psychotherapy) Pargament’s statement, of course, beings the limits of academic abstraction as well as methodology into focus. In fact, the famous psychologist, Muzafer Sherif (1906-1988), “promotes the idea of attitude and attitude change due to its importance in a quickly changing world. He emphasizes that real world contexts are important, even if regarded as “messy” compared to controlled lab experiments. Isobel Helen, a logotherapist, a form of psychoanalysis based on Frankl, observes that, "The lack of discussion around meaning, spirituality, fundamental questions of man are seen by Logotherapist schools as the missing element in mainstream psychological study and psychotherapy. Essential Frankl believed that there is no psychotherapy apart from the theory of man. As an existential psychologist, he inherently disagreed with the “machine model” or “rat model”, as it undermines the human quality of humans. She went on to say that as a Logotherapist, "We train people to find meaning and spirituality in their lives - [there is] endless data on the seriously transformative effects of meaning in life. Frankl reduced suicide rates in young people to zero when he opened Logotherapy clinics in Vienna.
