RELACIONES SOCIALES Y PODER

Exploring Digital Self-Efficacy among Junior High School Learners of Alternative Learning System in Cagayan de Oro City
In an era dominated by technology, digital literacy has become necessary skill,
defining one's ability to effectively navigate and utilize various technological
tools. However, not everyone, particularly junior high school students, has equal
access to or proficiency in the digital realm. This is particularly evident in the
Philippines, where a sizable proportion of students have difficulty accessing
digital devices and the internet, demonstrating a clear digital gap. This study
aimed to determine the level of digital literacy self-efficacy among respondents.
The researcher conducted descriptive research which involved a survey to 327
ALS junior high school learners from the 10 districts in DepEd Cagayan de Oro
City division. The findings showed that most respondents were female, with the
highest frequency in the age range of 16-24 years old. Majority had a family
economic status of less than P9,999, and a significant proportion had limited
access to online learning and digital resources. The study also found that the
respondents had a moderate level of digital literacy self-efficacy in collaboration,
emotional management, information management, and awareness in digital
contexts. Furthermore, there was no significant difference in digital literacy selfefficacy among respondents when grouped according to their demographic
profile. In conclusion, this study underscores the pressing digital disparities faced
by junior high school students in the division, particularly within the ALS context,
revealing challenges in access to technology and online resources
Theorising from the European South: Italy, Racial Evaporations, and the Black Mediterranean
This article addresses the narrative, political, and epistemological potential of theorising Europe from its South. It does so by focusing on the Italian context and by exploring how literary forms, political practices, and academic scholarship can articulate alternative visions of Europe beyond hegemonic paradigms of progress and security. Through a discussion of Italy’s political histories—its supposedly minor colonialism, its racial anxieties, and its project of colonial modernity—this article further argues that theorising from the South offers a powerful framework for addressing the evaporation of race in the imagination of European identity, as well as for articulating epistemic perspectives that build upon, rather than repressing, the fissures and contradictions of the European project
Scrutinizing Landbank of the Philippines as a Depository Bank of the Barangays in Makati City: Input Towards Public Service
This study deals primarily with the effectiveness of the Land Bank of Philippines as a Depository Bank of Makati Branch in specific organization and bank operations management. This paper provides baseline data in aid of policy formulation to enhance the bank operations management that offers new motivation towards a policy that effectively addresses and solves the bank operations management. This study used the quantitative descriptive method. Thirteen (13) bank personnel and 64 barangays elected chairman, including the appointed treasurer with direct access to the bank transaction regarding the funds of the barangays in Makati City, were purposely taken as research respondents. It was found that no significant difference exists in the assessment of the respondents in organization and bank operations management when grouped according to age, gender, and educational attainment. The mean evaluation of the respondents in the organization and bank operations management with the variables mentioned revealed effectiveness, and the grand mean and the composite mean are within the mean range of 3.50-4.49, interpreted as effective. This implies that the variables mentioned are directly performed to the standard of the bank. It is recommended that the bank look into the deposits of the barangay funds as it is mandated by law to secure the funds of the barangay in the form of deposits and withdrawals

A Sentiment Analysis on the Mandatory ROTC in Senior High School
This study uncovered the sentiments of Filipino parents on the mandatory Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) in senior high school. The study employed the qualitative approach using text mining. The data used in this study were the selected 100 Facebook comments of parents on the online news articles posted on Facebook, headlining the mandatory ROTC in senior high school. The orange software was used to determine the most frequently used words in parents' sentiments on the mandatory ROTC in old high school and to analyze the parents’ sentiments. Meanwhile, thematic analysis was utilized to formulate the definitions of parents' sentiments on the issue. The study revealed that the most frequently used words found on the sentiments of parents on the mandatory ROTC in senior high school as generated by Word Cloud in Orange software are ROTC, train, discipline, yes, mandatory, military, good, student, youth, country, and need. The study further revealed that Filipino parents believed that ROTC inculcates values, trains students to prepare for war, and is suitable for the country. They also thought that the Filipino youth needs discipline nowadays, that a highly qualified official should handle ROTC, and that it should be mandatory for all, except for the physically incapable. It was concluded that most Filipino parents favored implementing the compulsory ROTC in senior high school as the benefits that students and the country would derive outweigh the issues or oppositions against the proposed program
Improving Responsiveness to Stakeholders: A Mobile Application of Selected School Services for the Mary Perpetua E. Brioso National High School
This capstone project aimed to enhance the operational efficiency of school transactions at Mary Perpetua E. Brioso National High School (MPEBNHS) in response to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This goal was achieved by developing and implementing the Mobile-Based Selected School Services Application, "iSkulSerb." The development of iSkulSerb followed the systematic approach of Borg and Gall's (1983) Research and Development (R&D) methodology for creating and validating educational products. To ensure the validity and reliability of the application, it underwent rigorous examination by both IT and education experts. Additionally, survey questionnaires were administered during the project's implementation to assess the impact of iSkulSerb's features on school stakeholders. The research findings highlighted positive perceptions and outcomes related to iSkulSerb. Stakeholders demonstrated a favorable acceptance of the application, as evidenced by an overall weighted mean of 4.34. The accessibility of school services saw a substantial improvement, reflected in the weighted mean of 4.37. User-friendliness also received positive feedback, with an overall weighted mean of 4.27. These findings suggest that iSkulSerb effectively addresses the challenges faced by the school, contributing to enhanced operational efficiency and improved stakeholder experiences. Given the demonstrated reliability and efficacy of iSkulSerb, there is a compelling case for its widespread adoption across other public schools within the Schools Division of Masbate Province. The positive reception and success metrics indicate that iSkulSerb can serve as a benchmark for other regional schools

A Lesson Study on Teaching Impulse and Momentum in the New Normal
Impulse and momentum are basic concepts of mechanics introduced in the K to 12 curricula. Despite its basic concepts, students still have difficulties understanding the topic, especially when they are out of school due to the pandemic. After reopening the gates for face–to–face classes in the Philippines, the researchers found a significant reason to conduct a lesson study to improve teaching strategies on the topic. Lesson study is a development process wherein teachers work collaboratively to improve teachers teaching capacity. This study was conducted at Plaridel National High School with 23 participants from Grade 9 Newton (Set A and B). The research was conducted in two cycles using a four – phase lesson study. The research lesson was implemented using a 4A Model lesson plan and the results were taken from the analysis of the lesson study observation sheets, along with the class proficiency level. The researchers used the following strategies to improve teaching, namely; (1) showing mastery of subject matter, (2) reviewing basic mathematical operations, (3) contextualizing the lesson, (4) allowing students to answer questions in mother tongue, (5) using collaborative activities, (6) giving rewards, and (7) applying proper time management. However, the findings still showed that both sets of students achieved beginning proficiency level. Despite the implementation of these strategies, the students still lack basic knowledge of the topic and mathematical operations, and they struggle to understand it. Thus, it is recommended to plan the lesson effectively, utilize other research instruments, and collect feedback from the students
