The Three Neurogenetic Phases of Human Consciousness
Get PDFThis paper is an organization and conceptualization of a genetic account of human consciousness and to establish an initial list of the neurogenetic correlates of consciousness (NgCC). This will be accomplished by establishing networks of genes that are involved in the multiple facets of the process of human consciousness. The methodology utilized in this work is the evaluation of a small number of genes that have been researched experimentally in order to understand their role in brain development and function. The results demonstrate that most neurogenetic genes can be categorized into three phases: the emergence of neuron-based consciousness, the continuum of neuron-based consciousness, and the neurodegeneration of consciousness. This work also revealed that some genes have a function in more than one of the neurogenetic phases. As of now a starting point has been established in terms of identifying some NgCC but there is room for expansion as there are likely to be hundreds of more genes that have yet to be identified or the function pertaining to human consciousness has not yet been fully understood
Street Art as an Expression of Post-Modern Consciousness

I examine the street art’s use and definition of public space and how it challenges the prevailing paradigm on property and ownership. I explore the way that street art uses the language of advertising to reach the largest amount of people, while speaking out against all that consumerism stands for. I discuss how in braking down the boundaries between high art and low, and using images from every source imaginable, street speaks to the post-modern projects desire to see beyond disciplines and deny all hierarchies. I delve into the work of fames street artist Swoon and her art collective Toyshop and see how street art is seeking to facilitate a change in consciousness from a fixed and static way of seeing reality, to an organic and flowing mode of being
Tasseography From Jung\u27s Perspective
Get PDFApproaching from Jung’s perspective this paper aims to understand how the unconscious communicates through symbolism that may be the basis for synchronicity arising from mantic procedures. A particular ritual of divination called tasseography will be studied whereby the seer interprets patterns in coffee grounds intuitively and by following a standard system of symbolism to foretell the seeker’s future life events or provide answers to seeker’s pressing life questions. The paper will examine various processes involved in the experience of tasseography and its ritual that enable the reader to predict the seeker’s future or bring light to the present or past situation with powerful insight. Ultimately, this paper aims to understand the symbolic connection in mantic procedures between the seer’s precognition of events—grounded in the seer’s interpretation of the images arising during the divination ritual—and the seeker’s actual life events

Integral Yoga Psychology: Clinical Correlations
Get PDFThis article provides an overview of Sri Aurobindo’s Integral Yoga Psychology (IYP), with a focus on relevance to clinical practice. After summarizing recent developments in integrative medicine that have brought transpersonal themes into the mainstream of contemporary healthcare, the transformational paradigm of IYP is used to articulate a spiritually-informed approach to psychology and psychiatry. Topics covered include the soul (psychic being), reincarnation, the chakra system, psychodynamic therapy, ego defenses, positive psychology, CBT, AA, parapsychology, and mind-body medicine. The possession model of illness is addressed in detail, using both case material and the author’s own experience, and is compared to Jung’s method of working with the shadow. Finally, a range of real-world issues are discussed, including cross-cultural considerations, the structure of healthcare systems, the stigma of mental illness, and psychopharmacology
