    This is a proposal to add one course, ISYS699 – Enterprise Information System Models, to the approved list of optional courses in the KUO MS in Engineering (Concentration in Electrical & Computer Engineering – Advanced Mobility) program. No other program changes are proposed. Rationale: The KUO MS in Engineering (Concentration in Electrical & Computer Engineering – Advanced Mobility) program consists of 40 Credit Hours of course work. The course work includes 32 Credit Hours of technical courses from the ECE Department and 8 Credit Hours (2 courses from a list of 7 optional courses) from BUSN, FINC, and MGMT. The 8 Credit Hours of course work provides an opportunity to learn business and financial management concepts in preparation to advance in positions of technical and/or managerial leadership. The proposed program change and the course description are highlighted in Red, below. The major focus of the course is how organizations implement processes globally using enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management (SCM), customer relationship management (CRM), Poduct Lifecycle Management (PLM), and social networks.     A Model to Evaluate Pauwels Type III Femoral Neck Fractures

    While many femoral neck fractures can be reliably treated with surgical intervention, Pauwels III femoral neck fractures in the young adult population continue to be a challenging injury, and there is no consensus on optimal treatment. As such, there are past and ongoing biomechanical studies to evaluate the fixation provided by different constructs for this inherently unstable fracture. While many investigations rely on cadavers to evaluate the biomechanical performance of a construct, significant inter-subject variability can confound the analysis. Biomechanical femur analogs are being used more frequently due to more consistent mechanical properties; however, they have not been stringently evaluated for morphology or suitability for instrumentation. This study sought to determine the variability among composite femoral analogs as well as consistently create a Pauwels III injury and instrument the analogs without the need for fluoroscopic guidance. In total, 24 fourth-generation composite femoral analogs were evaluated for femoral height, neck–shaft angle, anteversion, and cortical thickness. A method was developed to simulate a Pauwels III fracture and to prepare three different constructs: an inverted triangle of cannulated screws, a sliding hip screw, and a hybrid inverted triangle with cannulated screws and a sliding hip screw.     Comprehensive Design and Control of Electric Powertrain Evaluation Platform for Next Generation EV/HEV Development

    Electric powertrain or power control unit, which is the integral part of the EV/HEV, is consisting of the high voltage battery, DC/DC converter, inverter, and electric motor. To evaluate the powertrain performance is a crucial stage for its development. In this paper, a peak 150-kW powertrain evaluation system with 2006 Toyota Prius as the evaluated target is designed along with its control technique being elaborated. This system is constructed as grid-connected back-to-back inverters driving a 55kW IPM machine to work as the load to the Prius\u27s powertrain. Operation modes of the system and the data collection are presented in the end. Overall, this platform extends an energy-saving solution for powertrain evaluation with the capability of sending the energy from the evaluated vehicle back to the grid compared to traditional dyno system which only dumps the power a passive load

    Characterization of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells with LSCF-SDC Composite Cathodes

    This paper reports the study of an anode-supported SOFC cell containing an LSCF-SDC composite cathode. The SOFC cell was tested at different temperatures and reactant flow rates. After testing, the cell was sectioned and characterized using SEM/EDS. Such analysis indicated that no structural damage and no significant interdiffusion of elements among the layers occurred. The measured electrochemical performance data at different temperatures indicate an Arrhenius behavior or temperature activated processes. The low-porosity anode functional layer appears to be very sensitive to low hydrogen contents. The electrochemical performance is also affected by changing air flow rates
