    Some problems of unlikely intersections

    Fixing X in the multiplicative algebraic group G^n_m(\Q), we are interested in the intersection of X with the union of Y where Y runs through the algebraic subgroups of G^n_m restricted only by dimension. We shall prove that, if X is an irreducible subvariety in G^n_m and the considered algebraic subgroups have codimension at least dim X, then this intersection has a bounded height by removing the anomalous sub varieties of X. Furthermore, we recover the finiteness by considering the algebraic subgroups of codimension at least 1 + dim X

    Stabilized formulation using Material Point Method

    With the past decades, there has been a rapid grow in intensity in hydrological movement. In particular, mass movements increased in frequency, because of the global warming, and this leads to the motion of a huge quantity of debris. This movements of rocks and heavy material is characterized by a destructive power because of their high density and speed. For this reason, nowadays it is necessary and fundamental to simulate accurately the behaviour of the debris media. Because of their nature, granular media can be modeled both as a fluid or as a solid, in the first case their physical behaviour is described by Navier-Stokes equations. In the current work, anyway, a solid mechanic framework is chosen, in particular the model is described through a mixed system of PDEs that suffers from strong non-linearities. Therefore a linearization becames necessary in order to solve the governing equations. The main goal of this work is to adapt a well-known stabilized technique, the Sub-gride Scale method, that has been used in Navier-Stokes framework, to our mixed system. Therefore a stable SGS formulation, i.e. that fulfill the inf-sup condition is obtained. Finally, the Material Particle Method, a particlebased method, is chosen in order to simulate numerically the behaviour of the stabilized formulation

    Questa tesi si propone di essere uno strumento utile per la progettazione e la verifica strutturale della fusoliera di un aereo ultraleggero. Vengono analizzate, sotto l'effetto di varie tipologie di carichi statici, una configurazione preliminare e la configurazione definitiva della fusoliera. Le analisi sono state effettuate attraverso i software MSC Patran/Nastran. Sono state anche verificate le interazioni che la fusoliera ha con alcune parti del velivolo già progettate
