    Specification Cases: a lightweight approach based on Natural Language

    Use Cases are one of the most used artifacts in software requirements specifications. Although there are a lot of templates that suggests how to describe Use Cases, as well as many quality inspection techniques, there are no many techniques to deal with the complexity and the effort to produce good quality Use Cases. On top of that, Use Cases are biased towards user interaction, leaving out important domain information. Thus, it is necessary to provide techniques to incrementally describe specifications that goes beyond user interaction but which can be derived from simpler artifacts in order to make the process organized and effective. This paper proposes an approach to begin with very simple sentences (kernel sentences), following with the LEL glossary and Scenarios, in order to describe Specification Cases. The approach relies on already defined kernel sentences and suggests three procedures to reorganize the knowledge captured in kernel sentences to describe the LEL, then Scenarios and finally Use Cases. This paper also reports a preliminary evaluation that supports the applicability and usability of the approach

    Heteroalleles in Common Wheat

    The Gli-B1-encoded -gliadins and non-coding -gliadin DNA sequences for 15 different alleles of common wheat have been compared using seven tests: electrophoretic mobility (EM) and molecular weight (MW) of the encoded major -gliadin, restriction fragment length polymorphism patterns (RFLPs) (three different markers), Gli-B1- -gliadin-pseudogene known SNP markers (Single nucleotide polymorphisms) and sequencing the pseudogene GAG56B. It was discovered that encoded -gliadins, with contrasting EM, had similar MWs. However, seven allelic variants (designated from I to VII) differed among them in the other six tests: I (alleles Gli-B1i, k, m, o), II (Gli-B1n, q, s), III (Gli-B1b), IV (Gli-B1e, f, g), V (Gli-B1h), VI (Gli-B1d) and VII (Gli-B1a). Allele Gli-B1c (variant VIII) was identical to the alleles from group IV in four of the tests. Some tests might show a fine difference between alleles belonging to the same variant. Our results attest in favor of the independent origin of at least seven variants at the Gli-B1 locus that might originate from deeply diverged genotypes of the donor(s) of the B genome in hexaploid wheat and therefore might be called “heteroallelic”. The donor’s particularities at the Gli-B1 locus might be conserved since that time and decisively contribute to the current high genetic diversity of common wheat

    Nanoparticles synthesised from Caesalpinia spinosa: assessment of the antifungal effects in protective systems.

    Green chemistry is the preferred approach for the synthesis of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles due to its environmental friendliness, feasibility, and safety to human health when compared with other chemical or physical methods. Caesalpinia spinosa is a promising resource to be applied in the green synthesis of metallic nanoparticles due to the high amount of polyphenols. The aim of the present research was to obtain an antifungal coating functionalised with nanoparticles synthesised from C. spinosa tannin and aqueous solutions of metallic (silver and copper) salts to control biodeterioration of acrylic paints and bricks. Green synthesised NPs were characterised by UV-vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The silver nanoparticles with average size of 12 nm and obtained from a 500 ppm aqueous solution of C. spinosa tannin inhibited the growth of Aspergillus niger, Penicillium commune and Lasiodiplodia theobromae. These strains were previously isolated from a biodeteriorated facade.     Comparación de dos tratamientos (toltrazuril vs. sulfametoxazol-trimetoprima) contra coccidios en cabritos criados intensivamente

    Dentro de las enfermedades que se pueden presentar en los primeros meses de vida en los cabritos, están aquellas que producen diarrea como síntoma principal. La coccidiosis puede ocasionar distintos síntomas y la gravedad del cuadro depende de la carga de parásitos, especie del mismo y la susceptibilidad del individuo. El objetivo fue comparar la eficacia de toltrazuril vs. sulfametoxazol-trimetoprima, para el tratamiento de la coccidiosis intestinal en cabritos criados en un sistema intensivo. Se utilizaron 44 cabritos Anglo Nubian, divididos en tres grupos: sulfametoxazoltrimetoprima (n=15; inyección intramuscular), toltrazuril (n=15; dosificación oral) y grupo control (n=14). Se realizaron muestreos a los días 0, 3, 7 y 30 posteriores al tratamiento. Se evaluó el peso y se tomaron muestras de sangre y materia fecal para determinar hematocrito, proteínas totales, albúmina, albúmina/globulina, características de la materia fecal y ooquistes por gramo. Los valores para las primeras tres variables fueron normales para la especie caprina y no presentaron diferencias significativas entre tratamientos, al igual que el peso. Con relación al análisis de materia fecal, hubo diferencias significativas entre el grupo control y los dos grupos tratados (teniendo éstos conteos inferiores de ooquistes) y entre los momentos 3 y 30. El grupo control registró una mayor cantidad de heces blandas en comparación con los dos grupos tratados.Among the diseases that can be presented during the first days of young goats life, we can mention those that produce diarrhea as the principal symptom. Coccidiosis can cause different symptoms and the severity of the condition depends on the parasite load, its species and the individual susceptibility. The objective was to compare the efficacy of toltrazuril vs. sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim, for the treatment of intestinal coccidiosis in young goats bred in an intensive system. Forty four Anglo Nubian young goats were used, divided in three groups: sulfamethoxazoletrimethoprim (n=15; intramuscular injection), toltrazuril (n=15; oral dosage) and control group (n=14). Samples were taken at 0, 3, 7 and 30 days after treatment. Weight was evaluated and blood and faeces samples were taken to determine haematocrit, total protein, albumin, albumin/ globulin, faeces characteristics and oocytes per gram. The values for the first three variables were normal for the goat species and they did not present significant differences between treatments, as was the weight. Regarding the faeces analysis, there were significant differences between the control group and the two treated groups (having these lower oocytes counts) and between moments 3 and 30. The control group registered a mayor amount of loose faeces compared with the two treated groups

    Novedades y nuevas citas de musgos (Bryophyta) de la Reserva Natural Punta Lara (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

    Background and aims: A list of mosses recorded in Punta Lara Natural Reserve (Buenos Aires, Argentina) is presented, increasing the knowledge of the diversity and distribution of mosses in the country. M&M: The specimens were collected and identified according to conventional taxonomic criteria and deposited in the Herbarium of the Spegazzini Institute (LPS). Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) records were consulted as a source of information about the species distribution. Results: Fifteen species of mosses distributed in 11 families were identified in Punta Lara Natural Reserve. The genus Thamnomalia Olsson, Enroth & Quandt, represented by Thamnomalia glabella (Hedw.) Olsson, Enroth & Quandt and the species Sematophyllum adnatum (Michx.) E. Britton are recorded for the first time for Argentina. Discussion and Conclusions: Two species are new records for Argentina and 11 species are recorded for the first time for Buenos Aires province. Several species are tropical, extending their distribution towards temperate regions.Introducción y objetivos: Se presenta una lista de musgos registrados en la Reserva Natural Punta Lara (Buenos Aires, Argentina) con el objetivo de ampliar el conocimiento sobre la distribución de las especies presentes en el país. M&M: Los especímenes fueron recolectados e identificados de acuerdo a los criterios taxonómicos convencionales y depositados en el Herbario del Instituto Spegazzini (LPS). Registros del Servicio de Información sobre la Diversidad Biológica Mundial (GBIF) fueron consultados como fuente de información sobre la distribución de las especies. Resultados: Como resultado de este estudio se identificaron 15 especies de musgos pertenecientes a 11 familias en la Reserva Natural Punta Lara. Se cita por primera vez para Argentina la especie Sematophyllum adnatum (Michx.) E. Britton y el género Thamnomalia Olsson, Enroth & Quandt, representado por Thamnomalia glabella (Hedw.) Olsson, Enroth & Quandt. Discusión y Conclusiones: En este trabajo se registran dos nuevas citas para la Argentina y 11 nuevas menciones para la provincia de Buenos Aires.     Diagnóstico de Chagas congénito en el Hospital de Niños "Sor María Ludovica"

    Introducción: La transmisión congénita de Trypanosoma cruzi constituye, en la actualidad, la vía que genera mayor cantidad de nuevos casos de infección aguda. El diagnóstico y tratamiento temprano aseguran una elevada probabilidad de cura parasitológica. El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar el seguimiento de potenciales casos de Chagas Congénito, estimar la tasa de transmisión materno-fetal y la capacidad diagnóstica del microhematocrito. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal sobre hijos de mujeres con Chagas, que concurrieron al Laboratorio Central del H.I.A.E.P Sor María Ludovica durante abril 2013-febrero 2019. Los niños fueron estudiados por microhematocrito y pruebas serológicas. Los resultados se obtuvieron del Sistema Informático de Laboratorio de Wiener®. Resultados: En el período de tiempo evaluado, fueron estudiados por microhematocrito un total de 268 niños (edad promedio= 2,35 meses), obteniéndose 16 resultados positivos. De los 252 niños con microhematocrito negativo, 58 fueron seguidos por pruebas serológicas hasta el año de vida, obteniéndose 3 resultados positivos. Se evidenció una pérdida de seguimiento serológico del 77%. La tasa de transmisión congénita estimada fue del 6,9% y el porcentaje de detección diagnóstica de la técnica directa, del 84,2%. Conclusión: La búsqueda de infección congénita en hijos de mujeres con Chagas, y su seguimiento hasta el año de vida, resulta esencial para lograr la detección y tratamiento temprano de nuevos casos. Sin embargo, la pérdida de seguimiento de potenciales casos de Chagas Congénito resulta alarmante. Esto enfatiza la necesidad de plantear estrategias sólidas para mejorar la aplicación del algoritmo diagnóstico.Introduction: Congenital Trypanosoma cruzi transmission is currently the route that generates the largest number of new cases of acute infection. Early diagnosis and treatment ensure a high probability of parasitological cure. The aim of this article was to evaluate the follow-up of possible cases of Congenital Chagas, to estimate the maternal-fetal transmission rate and the diagnostic capacity of microhematocrit. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on children born from Chagasic women, who attended the Central Laboratory of the H.I.A.E.P Sor María Ludovica during April 2013-February 2019. The children were studied by microhematocrit and serological tests. The results were obtained from the Wiener® Laboratory Information System. Results: In the evaluated time period, a total of 268 children (mean age = 2.35 months) were studied by microhematocrit, obtaining 16 positive results. Among the 252 children with negative microhematocrit, 58 were followed by serological tests up to one year of life, obtaining 3 positive results. A 77% loss of serological follow-up was evidenced. The estimated congenital transmission rate was 6.9% and the percentage of diagnostic detection of the direct technique was 84.2%. Conclusion: The search for congenital infection in children born from Chagasic women, and its follow-up until one year of life, is essential to achieve the early detection and treatment of new cases. However, the loss of follow-up of potential cases of Congenital Chagas is alarming. This emphasizes the need to propose solid strategies to improve the application of the diagnostic algorithm

    Anaerobically mineralized nitrogen within macroaggregates as a soil health indicator

    Anaerobically mineralized nitrogen (AN) in bulk soil (ANBS) has been described as a soil health indicator. Considering that large macroaggregates (2000–8000 μm, MA) are more sensitive to management practices than the bulk soil (i.e. whole soil), AN within MA (ANMA) would be a better soil health indicator than ANBS. The aim of this study was to evaluate if ANMA is a better indicator of: i) soil organic carbon (SOC) and particulate organic carbon (POC) in bulk soil (SOCBS and POCBS, respectively) and ii) aggregate stability (AS) than ANBS. Soil samples were taken at 0–5 and 5–20 cm from 46 continuously cultivated plots (CC) and a reference plot for each CC (pseudo-pristine, PRIS). These soils, located in the Argentinean Pampas, were classified as Mollisols with contrasting surface textural classes. The AS, SOCBS, POCBS, ANBS, SOC (SOCMA), and POC (POCMA) within MA and ANMA were determined separately at 0–5 and 5–20 cm soil depths and estimated at the 0–20 cm layer. The ANMA was a good indicator of SOCBS (R2 0.75, 0.48, and 0.61 at 0–5, 5–20 and 0–20 cm depths, respectively), POCBS (R2 0.66, 0.31, and 0.49, respectively), and AS (R2 0.80, 0.68, and 0.76, respectively). The ANMA performed similarly to predict SOCBS, POCBS, and AS as compared to ANBS, because ANMA was closely correlated to ANBS (r 0.90 at 0–20 cm). Since ANMA determination is more time-consuming than ANBS determination, its use as a soil health indicator would not be convenient. Therefore, the use of ANBS would be recommended over ANMA as a variable to monitor soil health
