¿Hambre cero?: diagnóstico, perspectivas y desafíos

    Get PDF
A diagnosis is presented that reveals the difficulties identified in 2019 to achieve the substantive goals for the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goal Zero Hunger in 2030, proposed by the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015, in the so-called Agenda 2030 This confirmation, observed all around the world, is exacerbated by the current economic impact produced by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the prospects foreseeing that are uncertain as much as discouraging. Latin America and the Caribbean, and particularly Argentina, have enough food for their entire population. However, food availability is not the main problem but access to it. The scientific-technological field has a relevant place for the purpose of making the right to food a reality. On the one hand, making methodological contributions to the instrumental goals present in the purpose mentioned. On the other hand, ensuring that the scientific and technical knowledge around them impact, through public policies, on populations in vulnerable situations. UX-Painter: An Approach to Explore Interaction Fixes in the Browser

    Get PDF
Usability and user interaction improvement is a central task in web development to guarantee the success of a web application. However, designers are barely able to keep up with the current development cycle because their practices are too costly, while interaction issues accumulate in applications that end-users keep suffering. In this work, we propose a method for designers to rapidly explore solutions through visual programming to the interaction problems of an application under development, even when it has been already deployed. The method is realized by a tool called UX-Painter, an exploratory tool for designers to apply quick fixes to interaction issues at the client-side of a web application without the need of any script programming knowledge. The palette of available fixes in UX-Painter are client-side web refactorings, i.e., changes to web page elements that solve specific user interaction problems without changing the underlying functionality. UX-Painter allows designers to quickly set up new versions of a web application by combining refactorings to create alternative designs for user testing or an inspection review. UX-Painter also provides the means to communicate design improvements, as a sequence of refactorings with clear semantics. We show the feedback provided by interviews with designers about UX-Painter’s functionality and the results of a user test about its usability

A practical tool for selecting microalgal species for biodiesel production

    Get PDF
In the search for energy sources to replace fossil fuels, microalgae have shown promising characteristics. Their cultures have several advantages over the conventional crops used for commercial biodiesel: they have fast growth rates and a high lipid content and can grow in environments unfit for agriculture. However, relatively few species have so far been studied as biodiesel feedstock. In order to facilitate the search for potentially useful species/strains, in this work, a bioprospecting tool based on biomass and oil production process requirements, triacylglyceride content, and biodiesel properties has been developed. For this purpose, an overall score (OS) was proposed as a tool based on biological, economic, and environmental factors. By applying the OS to nine species, we were able to narrow down the number of species within the diatom group, which are potentially suitable for large-scale biodiesel production. Halamphora coffeaeformis, Navicula cincta, and N. gregaria were the species with the highest OS (1.65-1.5). It is expected that this tool will provide a useful contribution to the criteria applied in the selection of microalgal species for large-scale biodiesel production

Tendencies in multi-agent systems: a systematic literature review

    No full text
The application of Artificial Intelligence mechanisms allows the development of systems capable to solve very complex engineering problems. Multi-agent systems (MAS) are one paradigm that allows an alternative way to design distributed control systems. While research in this area grew exponentially before 2009, there is a need to understand the status quo of the field from 2009 to June 2017. An extension of the results of a SLR related to Multi-Agent Systems, its applications and research gaps, following Kitchenham and Wholin guidelines are presented in this paper. From the analysis of 279 papers (out of 3522 candidates), our findings suggest that: a) there were 20 gaps related to agent-oriented methodologies; coordination, cooperation and negotiation; modelling, developing, testing and debugging; b) 24 gaps related to specific domains (recycling, dynamic evacuation, hazard management, health-care, industry, logistics and manufacturing, machine learning, ambient assisted living); and 14 gaps related to specific areas within MAS (A-Teams, dynamic MAS and mobile agents, ABMS, evolutionary MAS, and self-organizing MAS). These gaps specify lines of research where the MAS community must work to achieve the unification of the agent-oriented paradigm; as well as strengthen ties with the industry

Tool support for Generating User Acceptance Tests

    Get PDF
Software testing, in particular acceptance testing, is a very important step in the development process of any application since it represents a way of matching the users’ expectations with the finished product´s capabilities. Typically considered as a cumbersome activity, many efforts have been made to alleviate the burden of writing tests by, for instance, trying to generate them automatically. However, testing still remains a largely neglected step. In this paper we propose taking advantage of existing requirement artifacts to semi-automatically generate acceptance tests. This paper extends a previous paper in which we use Scenarios, a requirement artifact used to describe business processes and requirements, and Task/Method models, a modelling approach taken from the Artificial Intelligence field. The proposed approach derives a Task/Method model from Scenario (through rules) and from the Task/Method model specification, all alternatives in the flow of execution are provided. Using the proposed ideas, we show how the semi-automated generation of acceptance tests can be implemented by describing an ongoing development of a proof of concept web application designed to support the full process

    No full text

Potamolithus spp. in the Argentine Pampas

    No full text
The genus Potamolithus is the only native representative of the family Tateidae in South America. Six species of Potamolithus have been recorded from Buenos Aires province, on the Argentinean coasts of the Río de la Plata. These coasts are used for different purposes which could affect species of Potamolithus; however, the actual impact of these threats is unknown. The objective of this project is to know the conservation status of the genus Potamolithus in the Pampean region along the coast of the Río de la Plata. For this, seasonal sampling is being carried out at sites with historical records, providing the first population studies (growth and recruitment) of species in this genus and completing anatomical and molecular descriptions. The Argentinean coast of the Río de la Plata has been greatly altered by people and the invasion of Limnoperna fortunei in recent years, which has made it difficult to find specimens of Potamolithus. On IMG, specimens have been observed at various sites, and growth experiments are being carried out both in situ and in the laboratory. Because of the conchological, anatomical, and genetic analyses, five taxonomic entities are distinguished

In this work, three experiences of university professors are briefly presented that, in the context of the preventive and obligatory social isolation imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, like the rest of Argentine teaching, we had to “change” our practices and our knowledge of the face-to-face modality to a digital platform. In the first part, we relate our experiences in the current scenario and describe the situations experienced and the uncertainty that sometimes accompanies us.
