UNRAVELING THE IMPACT OF CURRICULAR COMPLEXITY ON GRADUATION TIME: A CAUSAL ANALYSIS IN HIGHER EDUCATION
This study examines the causal relationship between program complexity and graduation time at UNM. While program complexity is recognized as a factor influencing student outcomes, its precise impact on graduation timelines remains underexplored. Using comprehensive cohort data, this study employs causal inference methods, including generalized propensity scores, to estimate the effect of complexity on time-to-degree. Findings reveal that higher program complexity extends graduation timelines, even after controlling for demographics and academic preparedness. Socioeconomic factors also play a role. Specifically, programs with more Pell Grant recipients and lower median high school GPAs tend to have lower complexity levels. These results provide empirical evidence on the impact of program complexity on student success, offering insights for university administrators and policymakers. Optimizing program structures while maintaining academic rigor and support systems can enhance graduation rates and promote equitable access to higher education
Exploring Technology Adoption and The Role of Care in K-12 Education
This collection of research papers explores the intersection of technology adoption and the role of care in K-12 education through both quantitative and qualitative approaches. I used a systematic literature of the UTAUT and UTAUT2 frameworks in K-12 to understand the key factors influencing technology adoption among educators. In a survey of K-12 educators across the United States (n=174), I identified the moderating role care has on the technology adoption process. I conducted a case study with elementary educators (n=9) and identified how care is expressed in online settings among young learners. This set of research papers contributes to a broader understanding of how caring for the well-being of students influences technology adoption and usage. It highlights gaps in educational technology by emphasizing the need for emotional and social considerations and reinforces the idea that addressing students’ well-being plays an important role in their academic success
Organizing in the Hybrid Media System: Local and International Organizing in the MeToo Movement
Movements today are operating in a hybrid media system, in which activists negotiate the use of traditional and social media. Although most of what we know of the MeToo movement comes from studies of the #MeToo campaign and online organizing, the movement has its foundations in local organizing and in the wake of the viral campaign additional local organizing efforts took place. Using semi-structured interviews with leaders of a local MeToo organizing group and Facebook posts from this local group and a large, international MeToo Facebook group, this study explores the role of local organizing coming out of an international, online movement, including how movement organizers use social media. Findings demonstrate that the local and international groups use social media in distinctive ways that reflect the differences in their goals in relation to the MeToo movement. Local organizers use social media as a communication tool, curating content that is action oriented. Social media also extends community building for local organizations. Although the predominantly, White-led group intended to be intersectional, there was tension between intentions and practice
Neutrosophic Likert Scale to Assess the User Satisfaction with Retail Software Developed by Software Engineering Students
This study aimed to evaluate user satisfaction with retail software developed by Software Engineering students using a Neutrosophic Likert Scale, which captures agreement, indeterminacy, and disagreement dimensions to better reflect real-world user perceptions. The results demonstrated high agreement scores (mean ∼0.75) across key characteristics such as ease of use, speed, and response quality, indicating strong user satisfaction, while moderate indeterminacy scores (mean ∼0.25–0.75) highlighted areas for minor improvements. The study’s key contributions include the application of neutrosophic logic to assess software usability, validation of the student’s technical and managerial competencies, and actionable insights for enhancing system performance and user experience
Comparative analysis of machine learning platforms to op-timize DevOps: application of the Neutrosophic OWA-TOPSIS model
As software systems and their associated information become increasingly complex within DevOps environments, Machine Learning (ML) platforms are growing in importance for optimizing development and deployment processes. This article presents a comparative analysis of two leading ML platforms, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, to evaluate their suitability for optimizing DevOps. A quantitative methodology based on an experimental comparative method was employed, applying the neutrosophic multi-criteria OWA-TOPSIS model to assess and select the best alternative based on specific criteria such as scalability, integration, performance, and cost-benefit. The results from the OWA-TOPSIS model, derived from controlled experimental assessments, indicate that Microsoft Azure offers greater advantages over AWS for DevOps optimization and software deployment in the studied use cases. However, it is acknowledged that the optimal platform choice may vary depending on the specific needs of each project and organization
Structural conditions and ethical dilemmas of the integration of Artificial Intelligence in Latin American Public Higher Education
This study, using a neutrosophic approach, evaluates the integration of artificial intelligence in Latin American public higher education, focusing on the perceptions and ethical dilemmas of university stakeholders. Two groups of students in a scientific writing course were compared: one that used AI tools during the writing process and another that employed traditional methods. The results show that the use of AI favors active participation and the final quality of the essays, although it does not significantly impact prior knowledge or argumentative depth. The intervention reveals both benefits, such as greater engagement and improved performance, and ethical tensions related to privacy, equity, and transparency. The analysis highlights that the adoption of AI in educational contexts requires policies and practices that promote inclusion, ethics, and social justice. The results suggest that the integration of AI can enhance educational quality and participation, but always within a framework of critical reflection that ensures respect for ethical principles and equity in Latin American universities
SERVQUAL Neutrosophic Applied to Job Training Programs for Women in Ecuador: Impact on Reducing the Wage Gap and its Relationship with the Cost of Living.
This article positions itself relative to the SERVQUAL model applied to neutrosophic logic to assess the percep-tion of effective job training in Ecuador for females through the transferability of skills with relative gender in-come inequality investigated. Questionnaires of neutrosophic scales (truth, falsity, indeterminacy) were sent to females who completed government job training programs and secondary data from INEC were used to produce findings relative to employment and compensation information. The findings assessed dimensions of whether the job training was relevant, a precursor to equally compensated employment, and whether the females be-lieved that they had acquired negotiation skills, assessing statistical uncertainty via neutrosophic sets. Ultimate-ly, the findings determined perceptions of what constituted effective training and how efforts could be improved through institutionalized public gender-focused endeavors.
