    Get PDF
The current study focuses on the impacts of forced sexual activity on mental health among high school students. This study is a secondary data analysis, using the 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS), which is nationally representative data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A total of 19,945 high school students with an average age of 15.89 years, and about half of the students were White and male. This study found that experiences of sexual assault are associated with increased depression and suicidal ideation. This study also found that female youth experienced a higher level of forced sexual activities than male youth. The findings indicate that social workers continuously work with youth who have experienced forced sexual activities to help their mental health, especially for female youth

Autism Spectrum Disorder and the Field of Speech Language Pathology: A Comparative Literary Review of Language Development

    No full text
This thesis was undertaken to explore the relationship between Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and language development, explicitly comparing language acquisition in children with ASD to their neurotypical (NT) peers. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) must understand the unique communication differences and linguistic characteristics in children with ASD. This study addresses several key questions about the relationship between Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and language development. It explores what ASD is and how it affects language acquisition in children. Additionally, the research identifies common expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language delays experienced by children with ASD. Furthermore, the study considers how speech therapy approaches can be specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of children with ASD compared to NT peers. This research emphasized the importance of early intervention and targeted support for children with ASD through a literature review. These findings provide key takeaways for professionals working with children with ASD, including the significance of early, individualized intervention and the need for therapy methods that address both linguistic and social-pragmatic challenges. Understanding how language development differs in individuals with ASD provides valuable insights for SLPs and educators who work with them

Female Client Preferences of A Financial Advisor’s Gender

    Get PDF
This research examines the gender preferences of female clients when selecting a financial planner. While an increasing number of women are seeking financial advice, the percentage of female financial advisors remains relatively low, with even fewer holding the prestigious Certified Financial Planner designation. The disproportionate representation in the field raises concerns that, if women prefer to work with female financial planners, their needs may not be fully addressed. Through a survey utilizing conjoint analysis, this study determines if implicit gender bias exists when clients choose a financial planner, without directly asking clients about their preferences. Findings indicate that female respondents have a consistent preference for a financial planner of the same gender. This was clear even when the qualifications of their profiles were nearly identical to those of the male profiles. This suggests that the current number of female financial planners may not be sufficient to meet the growing demand, emphasizing the need for greater support in encouraging women to enter the professio

The Very Fine Line: Utilitarian Aesthetics and Threshold Politics in NOW YOU SEE ME MORIA

    Get PDF
Now You See Me Moria (est. August 2020) is an international socially engaged art collective that brings visibility to the inhumane conditions of the Moria refugee camp, aiming to influence European Union migration policies. This paper examines the collective’s work across digital and physical gallery spaces, analyzing the role of utilitarian aesthetics in both image and process, and situating the project alongside the migratory journey of a specific member. The resonance of this initiative, and the actions it has catalyzed, reveals a societal push to disrupt the contemporary art mainstream in favor of an emergent movement that privileges lived experience over hyperreality, the personal as a site of shared encounter, and the use of accessible, ultramodern media. While Now You See Me Moria demonstrates how socially engaged art can reach broader publics with greater immediacy, this paper also addresses the ethical tensions and complications that arise from that very visibility
