Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Nearly Spin-gapless Semiconducting FeVTaAl and FeCrZrAl
Here, we present results of a computational study of electronic, magnetic, and structural properties of FeVTaAl and FeCrZrAl, quaternary Heusler alloys that have been recently reported to exhibit spin-gapless semiconducting behavior. Our calculations indicate that these materials may crystallize in regular Heusler cubic structure, which has a significantly lower energy than the inverted Heusler cubic phase. Both FeVTaAl and FeCrZrAl exhibit ferromagnetic alignment, with an integer magnetic moment per unit cell at equilibrium lattice constant. Band structure analysis reveals that while both FeVTaAl and FeCrZrAl indeed exhibit nearly spin-gapless semiconducting electronic structure at their optimal lattice parameters, FeVTaAl is a 100% spin-polarized semimetal, while FeCrZrAl is a magnetic semiconductor. Our calculations indicate that expansion of the unit cell volume retains 100% spin-polarization of both compounds. In particular, both FeVTaAl and FeCrZrAl are 100% spin-polarized magnetic semiconductors at the largest considered lattice constant. At the same time, at smaller lattice parameters, both compounds exhibit a more complex electronic structure, somewhat resembling half-metallic properties. Thus, both of these alloys may be potentially useful for practical applications in spin-based electronics, but their electronic structure is very sensitive to the external pressure. We hope that these results will stimulate experimental efforts to synthesize these materials
Is Bullying Associated with Health Risk and Quality of Life Behaviors in Adolescents?
This study assessed the practice of bullying, health risk behavior and quality of life in adolescent boys and girls from the city of Maringá, Paraná. A representative sample of 1,020 adolescents participated in the study to assess the association between bullying, health-risk behavior, and quality of life factors through self-reported questionnaires. Odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) were obtained using both crude and adjusted binary and ordinal logistic regression, with a significance level of p\u3c 0.05. Male bullying perpetrators were 2.2 (95%CI=1.4-3.4) and 2.0 (95%CI=1.2-3.2) times more likely to consume alcohol and engage in physical activity compared to non-bullying males. Female bullying perpetrators were 2.1 (95%CI=1.3-3.5), 3.6 (95%CI=1.3-10.1), 1.8 (95%CI=1.1-2.9), and 2.7 (95%CI=1.1-6.3) times more likely to smoke, use illicit drugs, be addicted to smartphones, and have poorer sleep quality. These girls also had a 60% higher chance of having a worse perception of quality of life, respectively, compared to non-bullying females. The conclusion drawn is that bullying may be associated with health risk behaviors for both boys and girls

The Effect of the Number of Xylophone Bars on Student Comfort Level with Improvisation
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of reducing the number of bars available on a xylophone on the comfort level and perception of improvisation quality in elementary-aged students. Subjects were third and fourth graders with no formal instruction in improvisation, but have experienced Orff-inspired instruction that included improvisation. Students were asked to improvise on an Orff xylophone in one of four ways: (1) only the pitches F, G, and A on the xylophone while playing for eight measures, (2) all bars on the xylophone while playing for eight measures, (3) only the pitches F, G, and A on the xylophone while playing for sixteen measures, and (4) all bars on the xylophone while playing for sixteen measures. Students filled out a questionnaire following the improvisation task while the teacher recorded the length and number of bars on the xylophone for each student. Results indicated no statistical significant differences in comfort level with reduced bars. However, there was a significant interaction between the bars condition and the grade level of the students
“Making Connections within Cultures”: A Literature Review: The benefits of cultural responsiveness and school culture awareness in the music classroom
Each new music teaching job presents its unique challenges in terms of engagement, enrollment, and participation. During the first rehearsal or general music class, students quickly determine if they connect with the type of music used. This can lead to one of two options: either students are excited to learn, or are instead disinterested. The consideration that must be taken beforehand is whether the selected music is culturally relevant to the students\u27 musical backgrounds. In addition to those perceptions, teachers should also account for the school buildings\u27 musical backgrounds and paradigms. When teachers invest time in learning about both components, more meaningful and worthwhile music-making will more likely occur

Design-Bid-Build vs. Design-Build Project Delivery Methods
Iowa Code Chapter 26, known as the Iowa Construction Bidding Procedures Act, sets forth the process and procedures that governmental entities in Iowa must use to seek competitive bids and award the contract for a public improvement project. Governmental entity means, “the state, political subdivisions of the state (local governments), and public school corporations” (Iowa Code 2025a, I-909). Public improvement means “a building or construction work that is constructed under the control of a governmental entity” (Iowa Code 2025a, I-910). Chapter 26 requires governmental entities, including state agencies, cities, counties, public school districts, and community colleges to award the contract for a public improvement project to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder using the design-bid-build project delivery method, commonly known as “low bid.
