Free Music Dictations (Aural Skills I-IV)
No full textThis website was created to reduce the costs of high schoolers and college students studying aural skills. It features free recordings of dictations for teachers/professors, dictations with answers for independent study, free test prep materials, and instructional videos for basic dictation concepts. It was created under a Round Ten ALG Textbook Transformation Grant and revised under a Round 18 Continuous Improvement Grant. A Continuous Improvement Grant in 2025 led to a set of sight-singing excerpts with an index and optional harmonizations.

The deliverables associated with this project include Multiple Choice Questions Generator (MCQG) instruction guide for faculty that outlines purpose and potential of the components, an instructional video for students that provides “how-to” and “tips” for creating effective, high-scoring questions, a rubric with criteria and levels, and the rubric file to upload to D2
