Restorative Practices In Action: A Hands-on Guide for K-12 Schools
Abstract
Restorative justice is a practice well known in many criminal justice systems but most recently gained traction in school settings. Restorative approaches prioritize fostering positive relationships, accountability, and conflict resolution through communication and understanding. This project seeks to develop a complete implementation guide for restorative practices in school settings. This guide will focus on educator\u27s role to foster community, reduce punitive disciplinary actions and promote equity. It will also explore the blending of restorative approaches and frameworks that are already in place such as MTSS (Multi-tiered Systems of Support) and PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). By providing educators and the support teams around them with practical strategies, this manual aims to support the shift from punitive to restorative models, ultimately increasing restorative practices and fostering safer and equitable learning environments.

Addressing Postpartum Depression: A Counseling Group for Women after Childbirth
Postpartum depression is a global concern for women which can often go undiagnosed and untreated (Carlson et al., 2024). The consequences resulting from lack of treatment can be detrimental to both mother and child (Wall, 2021). Overcoming the symptoms of postpartum depression involves social support, coping strategies, education, and early intervention (Avrand et al., 2022; Dimcea et al., 2024; Wang et al., 2021). Current research will be discussed on the understanding of postpartum depression, risk factors, protective factors, the barriers to treatment that exist, current treatments that exist, and the effectiveness of treatment modalities. A group manual was developed that addresses postpartum depression for expecting and new mothers and can be implemented in various settings by professionals. This group manual includes the weekly activities, discussion topics, and necessary materials needed to lead this group. The interventions utilized for this group are based on cognitive behavioral therapy, with an emphasis on psychoeducation and skill building
Improving Behavior Using the CICO Intervention with a Fourth Grade Student With a Disability
The purpose of this project was to investigate the effectiveness of the Check-In, Check-Out (CICO) intervention on a fourth-grade student with a disability. The main problem behaviors addressed during this project were not following directions and interrupting. The student met with his special education teacher and general education teachers several times throughout the day. During these meetings, they discussed behavior expectations and goals for the day. The student had a goal of getting nineteen out of twenty-four points. Results showed the CICO intervention was successful in increasing appropriate behavior for this student. This reinforced past research that has shown the CICO as an effective intervention (Bunch-Crump & Low, 2017). Further studies are needed to assess the intervention\u27s impact on students with disabilities
A Psychocosocial Behavior Modification that Impacts Social Belonging in College Students
Disparities in educational attainment have been at the forefront of many educational leaders\u27 minds. For those in higher education, finding solutions to eliminate these disparities is critical to their viability. Research on these disparities has led to an encouraging discovery centered around the psychological construct of social belonging. Studies have been finding evidence that a student\u27s sense of social belonging impacts their academic success in college. Furthermore, researchers have discovered an intervention that fosters a student\u27s sense of belonging. This intervention has been shown to increase a student\u27s sense of belonging at college and, in turn, has increased the students\u27 academic success. The following research study implemented this intervention on first-year, full-time, domestic students at Minnesota State University Moorhead
Philosophy and the Arts: A Textbook with Readings
Intended for advanced undergraduates, this textbook presents and explains five core topics in philosophy of art. Roughly half the text is a set of edited excerpts that range from antiquity to the early twentieth century. Among philosophers, Plato and Immanuel Kant receive the most attention. However, the editorial stance is that philosophers are not the exclusive source of philosophy of art. Most chapters contain excerpts from artists writing about their art form, such as Alfred Stieglitz, T.S. Eliot, and Virginia Woolf. Each reading is prefaced by an extended introduction that provides historical and philosophical contextual. Except for a segment on Eduard Hanslick\u27s musical formalism, the emphasis is on visual art and literature. There are numerous illustrations and examples.https://red.mnstate.edu/oer-books/1001/thumbnail.jp
THE IMPACT OF EDUCATORS’ PERCEPTIONS OF NEURODIVEGENCE ON THEIR SELF-EFFICACY IN TEACHING MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH ADHD AND AUTISM IN RURAL MINNESOTA
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this phenomenological qualitative study was to explore how we can best support our teachers in matching our ever-changing educational landscape, specifically our neurodivergent learners. When educating neurodivergent students (students with autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), we must understand how to teach these creative, sometimes misunderstood individuals and unleash their full potential. To do so, we need educational practitioners who have healthy perceptions of what it means to be neurodivergent and educators who understand both the talents and hurdles that being neurodivergent may entail. This study examined how non-special education teachers\u27 perceptions of neurodivergence correlated with the level of self-efficacy that they had when educating students with ADHD and autism in their classrooms. The research questions covered educators’ perceptions and knowledge of neurodivergence along with questions about their self-efficacy in the classroom working with neurodivergent students. Data were gathered via open-ended, one-on-one interviews with six educators working in middle or high school classrooms in rural Minnesota. Interviews were transcribed and analyzed for themes from the transcripts.

Abstract
This self-analysis portfolio reflects on my story this far in my life and reflects on the different aspects and pieces of my development and experiences that have allowed me to grow into the person and individual I am today. In this paper, I reflected on my background information and the experiences that have shaped my development. I also reflected on my results from personality assessments to learn more about myself. I conducted interviews with some of the closest people in my life, gained their perspectives, and reflected on their responses. Using this information, I made a theoretical conceptualization of myself and used all the information to discuss the impact it all has on my professional identity. Lastly, I reflected on how I will use my background information, previous experiences, and future experiences to continue to develop as a person and a professional.

Understanding Juvenile Delinquency: Analyzing Familial, Social, and Psychological Risk Factors
Juvenile delinquency poses a burden for families, communities, and the criminal justice system. Criminal conduct among youth has lasting consequences on social outcomes and long-term well-being. Understanding the reasons behind these behaviors at a young age is critical to establishing effective intervention and prevention strategies. Based on the Social Learning Theory, Disorganization Theory, and the Control Theory. This thesis examines the most prominent familial, social, and psychological factors that contribute to juvenile delinquency, with a particular emphasis on how these variables increase risk for vulnerable adolescents. Integrating these theories, this study assesses how both learned behavior and a lack of constraint contribute to young criminality, creating conditions that elevate the possibility of delinquent behavior. This thesis advocates for policy changes that include recidivism prevention and restorative justice programs. Future research should investigate how these theories can inform the development of policies aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency and promoting long-term behavioral change
Which Drugs Will Be Abused Next? A Data-Driven Prediction Model
Substance abuse trends evolve over time, influenced by factors such as drug availability, mental health, cultural shifts, and societal attitudes. This study aims to predict which substances are most likely to be abused in the future by analyzing historical data on these key influences. Using a data-driven approach, we incorporate trends from multiple sources, including youth perceptions of drug availability, mental health statistics, cultural indicators, and even social media to develop a predictive model. By identifying patterns and correlations, this research provides valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and public health officials to anticipate and address future substance abuse challenges proactively
Password-Based File Encryption and Decryption Using Python and Tkinter
This project presents a Python-based file encryption and decryption application using AES encryption for secure file handling. Built with Tkinter, it provides a user-friendly GUI that allows users to encrypt and decrypt files while ensuring data confidentiality. The cryptography library is used to implement encryption, with password-based key generation instead of a locally stored key file. Each file is encrypted using a user-provided password, combined with a unique salt to enhance security and prevent brute-force attacks. This approach removes dependency on a static key file, improving accessibility and security. The project demonstrates real-world encryption techniques, ensuring data protection and privacy. Future improvements may include cloud integration, multi-file encryption, and enhanced UI customization
