Communication 
Academic Affairs should be led by an administrator who 
• Informs the campus of community of issues and initiatives in a timely manner. 
• Identifies in writing the source of initiatives and mandates. 
• Uses the active voice in direct communication. 
• Circulates up-to-date and accurate copies of the rules and regulations that affect 
Academic Affairs. 
 
Academic integrity 
Academic Affairs should be led by an administrator who 
• Promotes a Faculty Forward approach to Morehead State University. Faculty are the 
backbone of every university: without the faculty, there is no expertise or embodied 
disciplinary knowledge to offer students.  
• Treats the Faculty with the respect and trust they are afforded as a result of their 
experience and education. 
• Ensures only qualified and trained faculty are placed in appropriate classrooms, 
even in the face of administrative pressure to place certain employees or classes of 
employees in positions for the administration's convenience. 
• Upholds SACSCOC standard 10.4.c: "The institution . . . places primary 
responsibility for the content, quality, and effectiveness of the curriculum with its 
faculty.”  
 
Academic advocacy 
Academic Affairs should be led by an administrator who 
• Strongly advocates for resource allocation to the core mission of the university: 
academics. 
• Bolsters leaders who responsibly prioritize the needs of their academic programs. 
• Focuses on the recruitment and retention of faculty and effective academic 
leaders.
