Skidmore Air Vent: Understanding Vent Characteristics to Propose Redesign Solutions
Skidmore Pump is a company that manufactures air vents for the purpose of automatically relieving air from steam main lines. Steam vents are a vital part to any steam distribution system, as they are able to vent out air in the midst of a steady flow of steam. The presence of air can pose a problem in steam systems, as it is a non-condensable gas. In some systems, a neglect to remove air will reduce the efficiency of heat transfer, as the air will cause a stagnant film to reside around critical locations of heat transfer. In Skidmore’s Main Vent line are the following air vent models: #35, #75, and #77.
Recently, Skidmore was notified of a significant price increase and tooling cost that would affect the parts of Main Vent #75 and #77. These larger air vent models both have unique parts which differ in size from Main Vent #35. To restock on the necessary parts will be quite costly for Skidmore Pump, so design modification of the abundant parts pertaining to Main Vent #35 will be explored in order to recreate the same flow characteristics of the latter models
Extending Natural Mates in Euclidean 3-space and Applications to Bertrand Pairs
In Euclidean 3-space, a family of curves, the co-successor, is motivated and then introduced in relation to the natural mate. A complete characterization of co-successors is proved, followed by an application of the co-successor towards describing Bertrand curves and their mates

Online Connections with the Academic Library
The academic library of today must be aware and ready to adapt to the needs of online and hybrid students in order to not only survive but grow. A large percentage of AHU students are now hybrid, remote, or online learners. With a drop in students visiting the physical library, our staff and faculty librarians have discovered creative and effective ways of not only reaching these students but our faculty as well
Teachers of Color: Why It Matters
According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, the literacy crisis in America continues on. Ranking of average literacy scores according to racial groups has remained consistent for decades with BIPOC students trailing at the lowest end. And yet, about 78% of teachers are White. This reality has translated to school systems and classrooms that fail to take into consideration the historical, economic, sociopolitical, and moral components that play a role in teaching students of color. There is a desperate need to disrupt the methodology of literacy instruction and a critical solution is to have more teachers of color
