Get PDFThis quantitative study aimed to study Classical Conversations® parents’ motivations to register for a Master of Arts in Classical Studies. The study explored the self-determination theory, specifically the mini-theory of human needs. The researcher surveyed 49 participants about their motivation to get a higher degree in education to teach at home. The study also explored self-motivation perception. The findings were that parents have an excellent perception of their internal motivation. The most statistically significant elements of motivation were being a better teacher for their children and having a love for intellectual processes

Get PDFThe modern church in America needs to recapture the sacredness and significance of its facility to enhance its message, ministry, and mission in the community. The goal of this research study is to explore the benefits of church facilities designed to inspire and influence people to follow Christ. Jesus promised us, “For where two or three gather in my name, I am there with them” (Matt 18:20). In one sense of the word, a church campus is a representation of Christ in the community. Therefore, facilities management is the proper stewardship of our ministry. The mission that Jesus gave the church forms the purpose of church facilities usage. Shreveport Community (SC) Church made facility enhancements to research the effect it would have on the mission of SC Church: To make disciples of Jesus Christ. The intent of this dissertation is to discover what effect exists between the existence, enhancement, and expansion of a church facility and the life experience (spirit, mind, and body) of the SC Church congregation and the Shreveport community. The dissertation project studies the positive impact of quality church facilities through a theological review, literature review, and research project. Kid City Parties (KCP) is a facility within SC Church that underwent intentional facility enhancements for the research project. A quantitative, pre-experimental, posttest-only research design was used for study purposes in evaluating the efficacy of KCP changes enacted since 2020

Every leader experiences a particular adversity that tests them to their limits, and it is in that place that they learn who they are and who they want to become. A leader\u27s mindset can help or hinder them as they face adversity. We don\u27t have a choice in what challenges or hardships come to us in life, but we do have a choice in how we respond to them. Gratitude is a tool that can increase resilience to empower leaders to overcome challenges with grace, hope, and confidence.
In The Grateful Leader, I share my transformative experience with gratitude and practical ways you can cultivate the gratitude mindset to help you persevere through any challenge. Grateful leadership is about what you can do to strengthen who you are as a person so you can be the healthiest version of yourself as you lead others. The framework of this manuscript includes a biblical elaboration of gratitude that coincides with the chapter theme, a grateful leader profile that depicts how gratitude practically elevates leaders, and each chapter closes with gratitude activities to encourage practical strategies to cultivate gratitude. The project themes include: gratitude mindset, perspective, servant leadership,
mindset, perspective, authenticity, servant leadership, habit development.
Leadership requires resilience. Leaders equipped with psychological skills, such as gratitude, are more capable of navigating through high-pressure situations and unpleasant emotions and have a higher level of resilience in challenging times. Grateful leadership embodied through a gratitude mindset provides leaders with a practical tool to build their endurance as leaders so when challenges arise, they can overcome them in a way that strengthens them and those they lead.

Towards a Model of Follower Development: Exploring the Success Differentials in Leader and Follower Development Outcomes as Experienced by Bankers in Nigeria.
Get PDFThe aim of this qualitative study was to understand the leader and follower development experiences of middle-level managers in the Nigerian banking industry regarding developing followers into leaders. I used two research questions to explore the perception and treatment of followers and the levels of leader and follower development as influences on the development of followers into leaders. The research was set in Nigeria, with a purposive sample of middle-level managers in the Nigerian banking industry. I used a descriptive phenomenological technique to conduct long, deep interviews with 12 middle-level managers via Zoom video and then transcribed them with Otter.ai software. My findings indicate that followers are treated very poorly in the Nigerian banking sector and are perceived as work tools and people with no choice by industry leaders. In addition, leader development is prioritized over follower development, which has been relegated to academic and job-specific training programs that lack leadership skills development. Followers are not intentionally and strategically developed into leaders but rather leaders emerge from those who meet deposit mobilization targets. Banks use the funds mobilized to build their asset base and for trading and lending. Leader development is prioritized, and despite being undertaken through expensive offshore executive training programs, outcomes of the learning points from these programs are not being applied to improve organizations in the industry and their staff because of the leaders’ lackadaisical attitude toward training attendance. The followers, however, attain valuable outcomes from their training programs, which help with performance appraisal and service improvement processes

A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER: ALPHA-2 ADRENERGIC RECEPTOR-SINOPHILIN COFILIN AXIS BIOLOGIC ANTIBODY TREATMENT PROPOSAL
Get PDFPTSD affects about 5% of adults in the United States every year.1 This thesis investigates the common biologic therapies for PTSD and the specificity factor of the catecholamine binding to related norepinephrine alpha-2A adrenergic receptors. The binding of these catecholamines to adrenaline receptors in the spinophilin cofilin axis of the dorsal hippocampus causes fear-memory modulation and storage by altering dendritic morphology and thus manipulating neuronal plasticity. Targeting the inhibition of these respective receptors and increasing the activity of cofilin, a protein responsible for breaking down actin utilized for dendrite reaction to stimulus appears promising. By preventing the binding of catecholamines in this axis which would depress cofilin, dendritic changes of elongation would be small rather than dramatized and prolonged as seen in PTSD, eliminating a change in plasticity and future responsiveness to recurring stimuli. The use of a polyclonal antibody rather than an SSRI or beta blocker – which only treats symptoms without changing the modulation of fear itself– was proposed due to the more bodily ‘holistic’ approach to PTSD rather than using an artificially synthesized pharmaceutical. Coupling the proposed antibody treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy can aid in making long term PTSD symptoms a thing of the past

This forced fasting, often justified by \u27biblical\u27 reasons, can significantly hinder the church\u27s spiritual formation, leaving worshippers deficient in their spiritual journey. Promoting a more balanced approach to spiritual discipline is crucial, as using Scripture to justify this fast is counter to the words of Christ, the teachings of the apostles, and the church\u27s mind for over two millennia. It\u27s important to note that from Pentecost to the present, the rhythm of the church has been Evangelical, Pentecostal, and Sacramental, reinforcing the argument for a more balanced approach to spiritual discipline. The preached word in the Spirit’s witness is the ground of the worshipping community. However, out of that same preached word of God is the vital place of not forgetting to share the body and blood of Christ at the Lord\u27s Table; therefore, let us keep the feast
TEACHER SELF-EFFICACY AND THE INCLUSIVE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL CLASSROOM
Get PDFResearch indicates that one in five students nationwide struggles with a learning difficulty or disability that affects the student’s ability to learn (Galiatsos et al., 2019). Nationwide, Christian schools are enrolling students with disabilities (SWDs), but it is difficult to determine the specific number of SWDs enrolled in Christian schools (Association of Christian Schools International, 2021). In the inclusive school setting, whether public or private, teachers and administrators are often underprepared in their approach to the education of SWDs (Cooc, 2019; Kirk et al., 2021; Krämer et al., 2021). The purpose of this study is to explore how teaching SWDs in an inclusive setting affects the Christian school teacher’s efficacy or confidence. Further, the study considers key demographic identifiers, the power of a supportive administrator, and the relationship between these factors and teacher efficacy. Study participant perceptions of self-efficacy or confidence in educating students with disabilities were statistically significant, reflecting a very large response effect. Perceptions of administrative support were statistically significantly predictive of study participants\u27 perceptions of self-efficacy. The survey data indicated that numerous teachers working in an inclusive Christian school are underprepared and that while access to professional development (PD) is readily available, the content of the PD appears to have a limited effect on improving teacher pedagogy or efficacy. Due to a limited sample size, the relationship between key demographic identifiers and teacher efficacy could not be statistically established. However, the study data offered promising findings regarding years of teaching experience and ESE coursework, which would benefit from future research
MENTAL HEALTH IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN CHURCH: DISMANTLING THE STIGMA OF TREATMENT AND SERVICES
Get PDFThe purpose of this study is to identify the prevailing mental health perspectives of African American spiritual leaders and to analyze how their views on this subject are communicated to their congregations. Historically, research has demonstrated that African American clergy have admonished congregants for seeking mental health care from mental health professionals instead of seeking God. Twelve African American and Caucasian American spiritual leaders were interviewed. According to the interview results, spiritual leaders\u27 personal beliefs about mental health impact their perspectives on mental health services, which determines their receptiveness and support––or lack thereof––of mental health services. The research concluded that providing education on mental health to spiritual leaders, their staff, and congregants could help destigmatize mental health in the African American community. Mental health training could open a dialogue on mental well-being and reduce the disparity between African Americans and Caucasian Americans in the rate at which mental health services are received
