TEACHER RETENTION IN INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS
Get PDFTeachers in public and independent schools have left the field of education at a staggering rate. The purpose of this qualitative case study was to understand what factors kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers describe as influencing their decisions to remain in independent day schools in Florida. For the purpose of this study, independent education is defined as private schools. Five participants were interviewed for the study. The two themes developed in the study were differences from public schools and school leadership. The subthemes for differences from public schools were flexibility, teacher autonomy, and freedom from government control while subthemes for school leadership were supportive school leaders and unsupportive school leaders. BUILDING A PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE THROUGH COLLABORATIVE INQUIRY
Get PDFLittle if any research has been conducted to determine the dynamics of and meaning derived by a group of professionals using collaborative inquiry (CI) to create a values and behaviors (VB) statement in the early stages of forming a community of practice (CoP). This case study involved individual interviews and other observational techniques to determine meanings derived from the inquiry and identify the value individuals and the group as a community may have gained from the CI. The research questions for this study addressed how using CI to establish the VB statement affected the development of the CoP, the meaning individual participants derived from the experience, the effect the experience had on individual participants, and the contribution the shared experience made to the formation of the group’s corporate culture. The literature review addressed CI as an arm of action research and the primary vehicle for the phenomenon investigated in the project, individual and corporate values and their relationship with associated behaviors as information being generated by the CI, and the history, structure, and functions of the CoP that served as the laboratory for this research. The research strategy for this project was a pragmatic hermeneutic approach. Because the CI and hermeneutical inquiry cycles are similar, the outcome of the CI informed the outcome of this research project. The findings indicated the use of CI to create a VB statement resulted in clarity of expectations within the community, common terminology for expected behaviors, greater self-awareness, and cultural curiosity that resulted in a spirit of cultural comity and communal intimacy

This article examines Calvin’s instruction and views on war and determines when humanity should enter such a conflict. Further, within the Christian worldview, warfare obviously connects to judgment and sin, two issues that Calvin affirmed resulted in deadly clashes and encounters. Strongly adhering to the idea of providence, Calvin felt that no event in human history occurred outside the will of God
THE DANGER ONLINE PHARMACIES POSE ON CLIENTS WITH EATING DISORDERS IN THE PRESCRIPTION OF GLP-1 AGONISTS FOR WEIGHT LOSS
No full textThis literature review explores the prevalence of utilizing online pharmacies to obtain glucagon-like peptide 1 agonist, Semaglutide, for cosmetic weight loss and the danger that route of obtaining medication places on clients with eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. In addition, research was conducted to establish practice recommendations to eliminate the possibility of a client with an eating disorder from obtaining a GLP-1 agonist when it is inappropriate for their health status. Various articles were used to gain information about the drug in general, its mechanism of action, indications, positive outcomes, and adverse effects. Additional articles were studied to explain the two eating disorders and their causative factors. This review uses an arrangement of meta-analysis, open-label studies, qualitative reviews, and quantitative studies. The analysis showed that there is an increased concern with online pharmaceutical distribution of this medication class and the dangers of eating disorder patients acquiring and consuming these drugs enabling their mental health disorder prohibiting the clients from receiving the psychiatric interventions they need. Recommendations are provided to improve the current practices incorporating additional screening tools to better identify patients with current eating disorders or a history of eating disorders, establishing a well-rounded healthcare team in administering this drug class for weight-loss effects, and mandating face-toface appointments through means of Telehealth or in-person to appropriately evaluate the client who is trying to acquire this medication
