Pilot Study: Effects of Whole Body Vibrational Therapy on Equine Epaxial Muscle Soreness
Whole body vibrational therapy (WBV) is well-studied in people, but there is a paucity of research of its effect on horses. It is suggested that WBV use in horses increases performance, aids in recovery, and stimulates nerves, bones, and muscles in ways that normal exercise does not. The purpose of this pilot study was to determine if frequent WBV therapy sessions affect back soreness in horses using pressure algometry. Most sporthorses will experience back soreness in their careers, and it is regarded as one of the most common causes of poor performance in equine athletes. Five horses were measured for mechanical nociceptive thresholds at 8 points along their backs once every 7 days for 8 weeks. Baseline pain scores were established over the first 4 weeks. During the second 4-week period, horses received 5, 30-minute vibration therapy sessions per week. Despite previous research indicating that WBV increases epaxial muscle symmetry in horses, no significant difference was noted between the subjects’ average pain thresholds during the baseline period and the trial period. Upon further investigation of the change in sensitivity at the individual sites, 4 out of the 8 sites did show a 0.5-1 kgf difference. This suggests that with further study WBV may increase average pain thresholds. Further experimentation is required to assess whether this difference is biologically meaningful
Assessing Knowledge, Confidence, and Attitude Toward Virtual Care and Telehealth Among Graduate Nursing Students
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth and virtual healthcare modalities have become primary care delivery methods. The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AACN) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) support using virtual care and telehealth technology in health care services. Although most healthcare institutions utilize telehealth to provide care, emerging research highlights the lack of telehealth training in Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) education. However, no standard curriculum requirements mandate graduate nursing programs to train APRN students in telehealth or virtual health modalities. Due to the lack of training for APRNs, it can be very challenging for new APRNs entering clinical settings that rely heavily on virtual care and telehealth services. Therefore, the purpose of this quality improvement project was to assess the current state of APRN students’ perceived knowledge, confidence, and attitudes in conducting virtual care/telehealth visits using a standardized patient simulation activity as an adjunct training opportunity for students enrolled in their program\u27s Advanced Health Assessment Course. The project findings will help the graduate nursing program comply with the guidelines of the AANP and AACN recommendations for APRN education programs, which strongly promote the incorporation of virtual care and telehealth technology into nursing program curricula

A Curriculum Development for Writing a Personal Narrative in a French Immersion 5th grade class.
The purpose of this curriculum development project was to address the need of more writing in elementary French immersion school in grade five French class through the fusion on the writing workshop and the ECRI model (Reasoned and Coherent Writing in Immersion). The writing workshop is proven to work in schools teaching students writing in L1 and the Ecri model was developed by teachers who are experienced in teaching in an immersion setting to help students write in L2. A new framework was developed based on those two frameworks above to support fifth graders in a French immersion school to improve their writing skills. The curriculum developed within this project used those models to create a French unit as a guide to teaching narrative writing in L2

Analysis of Conjugation and Intermolecular Forces in a Series of Substituted Oxadiazoles
Oxadiazoles are a class of organic molecules that are of interest in medicinal chemistry because of their biological properties, which include antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities. Recently 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives have been gathering interest in electrochemistry because of their high thermal stability, chemical stability, and electron deficiency. Electrochemistry research has discovered 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives to be strong candidates for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), particularly blue and deep blue OLEDs. The molecules are also of interest as separators in electrochemical energy storage. An understanding of how these molecules pack in crystalline materials is essential for fully grasping the properties of this class of materials. This project aimed to synthesize and analyze a series of oxadiazoles, focusing on 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives to examine conjugation and intermolecular forces in the crystalline form. Six molecules were synthesized by a two-step, one-pot method and crystallized via slow evaporation. Analysis revealed that three of the synthesized molecules exhibit Type II halogen-halogen bonding, while two required further analysis, and one was analyzed using data from the Cambridge Crystallography Data Centre (CCDC)
