Intertextuality between T. S Eliot and Al Sayyab’s poetry
The purpose of this study is to shed light on ‘intertextuality’ as a cross cultural technique between modern Arabic
and English poetry with reference to T. S Eliot and Al Sayyab. It aims to uncover the intertextual aspects of
‘allusion’, ‘symbols and myths’, ‘irony’, ‘the objective equivalent’, ‘conceptual metaphor’ and ‘impersonality’
between Eliot and Al Sayyab and the impact of Eliot’s thoughts, themes, expressions and style on Al Sayyab’s.
However, the study reveals that the strategy of intertextuality takes a one-way direction, i.e., from Eliot to Al
Sayyab, and Eliot’s fingerprints are quite manifest in Al Sayyab’s poetry. Moreover, although some of Eliot’s key
expressions, ideas, symbols, myths and themes are borrowed by Al Sayyab, he could professionally use
intertextuality and maintain his illustrious style
The effect of using summarization to improve speaking skills among learners of Arabic language in Malaysia
This study aimed to identify the effect of using summarization strategy to improve speaking skills among learners of Arabic
language in Malaysia. To achieve the objectives of the study, several Arabic language learners from a Language Centre in Malaysia have
been selected to participate in this study. The study sample consists of (30) students, they are then divided into two groups; the first
experimental group consists of (15) students studied the Arabic language using the summarization strategy, and the control group consists of
(15) students studied using traditional method of teaching. A test has been used in this study; the test speaking skills (pre and post). Results
of the study indicate significant differences at (α=0.05) due to the instruction strategy used in favour of those taught through summarization
strategy in the speaking test
terperinci
Counselors experiences in handling the counseling session on the gay and lesbian clients: factors causing the occurence of gay and lesbian behavior
Gay and lesbian phenomenon has become talk of the town in Malaysia nowadays. It is
considered as a controversial issue as it has started to expand since ancient times. There are
various notions and perceptions of society towards gay and lesbian culture. Therefore, the
primary objective of this study is to identify the driving factors of the clients’ involvement in
gay and lesbian world based on counselors’ experiences in handling their counseling
sessions. The study has used qualitative study design involving semi structured in-depth
interviews on counselors’ experiences while handling the gay and lesbian cases. Purposive
sampling is employed in interviewing the counselors who have been identified by the
researcher to have information in counseling session management with regard to the causing
factors of the client’s involvement in gay and lesbian activities. Data were analyzed by
studying the transcription of interview recording and identifying the themes that emerged
based on the objectives of the study with the help of the N'vivo 11 program. Based on the
analyzed data, there are four themes that emerged from the interview results; (i) family
factor, (ii) education and (iii) sexual abuse and (iv) environment. The results demonstrate
that counselors should possess knowledge and information regarding the clients so that they
can help and assist these individuals in obtaining better lives. These gay and lesbian
individuals should be provided with moral and spiritual support since some of them are the
victims of circumstances. Therefore, the implication of the study is so that it can enhance a
counselor’s knowledge if he or she wants to provide better counseling services to their clients
(the gay and lesbian individuals). Apart from that, the findings are accentuated to be able to
assist educators in counseling field so that the trained counselors will be more competent in
dealing with gay and lesbian issue

Preliminary results of vein wrapping for treating hyperaesthesia of the superficial sensory radian nerve
Objectives / Interrogation: Hyperaesthesia of superficial sensory of radial nerve following decompression of de Quervain
tenosynovitis is relatively common. The oversensitive pain is described as a sharp-slicing pain located over the radial aspect of the
dorsum of wrist till the base of the thumb. The pain occurs continuously even at rest. Although in most cases, hyperaesthesia is
successfully treated with opioids, adjuvant medication (antidepressant, anticonvulsant, baclofen or topical local analgesia) and
physiotherapy (transcutaneous-electro-nerve-stimulator and desensitization), some authors propose for surgical procedures
(adhesiolysis, neurolysis, vein wrapping). A few authors reported success in threating hyperaesthesia for median nerves. However,
to our knowledge, there is no case report of vein wrapping in treating hyperaesthesia of the superficial sensory of the radial nerve.
Methods: We report vein wrapping in treating hyperaesthesia of the superficial sensory of radial nerve following surgery for de
Quervain. An 80-year-old male with chronic left wrist pain was diagnosed with de Quervain tenosynovitis and underwent surgical
decompression of the first extensor compartment. The pain of this left wrist did not resolve more than a year despite regular
physiotherapy and medication. The pain was described as a "sharp" pain even on slight touch at the dorsal radial aspect the wrist
with the pain score of 8. There was no weakness of wrist, fingers or thumb in extension.
Results and Conclusions: Using the same incision from previous surgery, the superficial sensory of radial nerve was identified
and we noticed the nerve was covered with previous fibrous tissue. It was pale, irregular and swollen. There was no neuroma of
the nerve. We harvested the dorsal vein of the wrist, 6 cm in length, and wrapped it cylindrically around the affected nerve.
Immediately on day 1 postoperative, the sharp pain of wrist reduced from 9 to 5. We assessed the pain score in the clinic in 2
weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks. The pain score was decreasing on each occasion. The patient was satisfied and improved in his wrist

ARIMA-GARCH model for estimation of value-at-risk and expected shortfall of some stocks in Indonesian capital market
In stock investments, keep in mind the movements and risk of losses that may occur from investments made. One
way to calculate risk is to use Value-at-Risk and Expected Shortfall. The purpose of this research is to determine the
amount Value-at-Risk and Expected Shortfall of selected stocks using the time series model approach. The data used
in this study is the daily closing price of some stocks for three years. In the time series modeling process, the models
used for predicting stock movements are Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) for the mean model, and
Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticty (GARCH) for the volatility model. The values of mean and
variance obtained from the model are then used to calculate the Value-at-Risk and Expected Shortfall of each preferred
stock. Based on the analysis, it was found that from the selected stocks, Bank Mandiri stocks had the lowest risk level
and Mustika Ratu stocks had the highest risk level with the Value-at-Risk value of stocks generally smaller than the
Expected Shortfall valu
