    The Effect of Acoustic Resonance on the Radius formed by Chladni Figures formed by the Chladni Plate Method

    Cymatics is the broad study of waves and how they interact with and change mediums. The significance of cymatics derives from the use of waves in every scientific medium in some manner. The most common way that cymatics are shown is through the Chladni plate experiment, which consists of exciting a sand-covered plate by the use of a vibration generator; this action creates geometric patterns in the sand called Chladni figures. This research aimed to investigate how acoustic resonance affects the shape of Chladni figures. It was hypothesized that the decreased resonance would have a larger effect on the Chladni plate due to destructive interference. The Chladni plate experiment was conducted in four different acoustic settings ranging from an insulated closet to an auditorium stage, and the radius was measured. The results of an ANOVA test yielded a statistically significant result when comparing the radii of each resonance group, p \u3c 0.00001. A conclusion was drawn from these results that acoustic resonance significantly affects the radius of Chladni figures formed by using the Chladni plate experiment. This conclusion results in the determination that due to the constructive interference affecting chladni plates, the Chladni plate experiment can be maximized by preventing any sound insulation from having a dampening effect

    Microwave Spectrum and Analysis of 2,4,5-trifluorophenol

    We used microwave spectroscopy to study 2,4,5-trifluorophenol for the first time. Microwave spectroscopy is used to find the shape of molecules. By finding patterns in the shapes of molecules, we can gain a better understanding of physical interactions at a molecular level. Our custom-built chirped-pulse Fourier transform microwave (CP-FTMW) spectrometer was used to measure the spectrum from 8 – 18 GHz. The spectrometer averaged 10,000 measurements of the spectrum to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio. We also used Gaussian 03W software to predict the rotational constants (shape) and distortion constants (flexibility) of the chemical. After a full analysis of the spectrum, the experimental spectroscopic constants will be determined

    Loneliness Playing a Role in Teen-AI Relationships

    Through the gradual increase in the use of Artificial Intelligence chatbots being more commonly used in society today, strong feelings of attachment to these chatbots have also been on the rise. Loneliness has been one of the main factors for this rise and Generation Z happens to be one of the loneliest groups in American society as they scored a 48.3 out of 80 on the UCLA Loneliness Scale (any score of 43 and above is officially lonely). This research aims to analyze the role that loneliness plays in the strength of a friendship between teenagers and their Character.AI chatbot, Hollis, through the use of a mixed method approach with quasi-experimental and a causal comparative methods being used. Teens were gathered through voluntary sampling and took the UCLA Loneliness Scale in the questionnaire they were given. After this they were separated into two groups of more lonely and less lonely and individually talked to Hollis, a Character.AI chatbot made for this research by the researcher, for a preferred minimum of 5 minutes a day for 4 weeks. At the end of each week, the participants took a questionnaire. Then at the end of the research, a few participants were interviewed to further explain and expand upon their experience throughout the course of this research. A content analysis was conducted afterwards in order to thoroughly determine the role of loneliness in a teen-AI relationship

    Individual and Comparative Effects of Rhodiola rosea and Acanthopanax senticosus Extract on the Lifespan of Drosophila melanogaster

    Mixing substances can have positive or negative effects on one’s physical and mental well-being. The development of new medicines can benefit greatly from the determination of whether or not particular drugs can be harmful when combined. Substances such as Rhodiola rosea and Ginseng have been tested on these organisms and used throughout many households. Both substances have been heavily studied to discover their immunity-boosting properties as well as many other positive qualities. While there is sufficient research on their individual effects, no studies have discussed their combined effectiveness on the lifespan of flies or any other model organism. Drosophila melanogaster was used as a model organism to test the effectiveness of certain medicines. The purpose of this study was to discover the effectiveness of the medicines in a combined state. The fly food was mixed with one or both of the supplements and the number of surviving flies was observed for four weeks. The results of this experiment did not support the hypothesis that the combination of the supplements would increase the lifespan of the flies

    The Effect of Soy Peptone on Improving the Growth of Micrococcus luteus in an Insecticide

    Although locusts consistently manage to deprive nutrients from the environment, no one has come up with a permanent solution. However, Micrococcus luteus appears to be the solution. M. luteus can achieve a high level of bioremediation with the help of a protein supplement known as soy peptone. With the help of soy peptone, M. luteus was able to withstand the damage of an insecticide and not only survive but grow. These results indicate that if peptone is added to M. luteus in the environment then helpful microorganisms would be able to survive. These results are important as with this knowledge many of the detrimental effects of locust attacks can be limited. The bacteria were grown on nutrient agar and stored in an incubator. The growth of the bacteria was counted using colony-forming units. Colony-forming units are units that count the number of total colonies in a quadrant. In the control group, the M. luteus grew an average of 4575 colonies. Whereas, when the M. luteus was supplied with peptone the bacteria grew an average of 20828.33 colonies. In contrast to these results when the M. luteus was faced with an insecticide zero colonies formed. In the final group, the M. luteus was supplied with peptone and an insecticide, in response the bacteria grew 5825 colonies. Although the M. luteus was unable to grow past the insecticide by itself, when helped by peptone, M. luteus can combat the effects of an insecticide
