Event Management System
Get PDFThe main aim of the event management system is to provide a platform for the users to view information about the events that took place in the past and the ones that are about to take place shortly. The application enables the user to view and book an ongoing or upcoming event in a particular locality. Users should register themselves to log into the account for online booking of tickets. The users can be administrators, event organizers, and customers. They can first log into the website and see through the information such as details about the events.
The administrator can log in and update the information, delete any unwanted data, and arrange the information accordingly. The event organizer is the one who organizes events; they will upload event details. Customers can view events and they can book events. There is a secured mechanism is there for payments. This web application also gives some suggestions to the customers based on their previous bookings. Customers can view or send feedback on particular events. A Centralized database is used to store all the details of the admin, event organizer and customer details.
Event Management System is developed using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap as the front end, MySQL database as the backend and Java as a programming language. We will develop this web application using the Spring MVC framework. Tomcat server is used for deployment
The Effects of Mindfulness on Regret: An Explorative Analysis
Get PDFRegret has been found to be associated with anxiety, depression, and cognitive distortions (Markman et al., 2009; Markham & Miller, 2006). In relation to regret, past actions and decisions create painful experiences resulting in negative rumination (Olatunji et al., 2013). However, if the negative rumination is reduced there is the potential to learn important feedback from previous decisions that have resulted in painful experiences. Thus, the current research explores the mitigating role of mindfulness on the amount of regret experienced. It was hypothesized that the participants would report experiencing less amount of regret following mindfulness meditation. First, participants were asked to recall a regretful life event and asked to rate the intensity of emotions they experience, including regret. Keeping the memory in mind, all the participants then participated in a guided mindfulness session. Following the mindfulness session, participants were asked to re-evaluate the memory they recalled by completing post self-report ratings as well as the short version of 12 item 5-Facet Scale (Baer et al., 2006) and 12 item Self Compassion Scale (Neff, 2019). Participants were instructed to practice the same medication at least twice for a week using audio recording provided by the investigators. Secondly, one week later, phone interviews were conducted. Eight students participated in the current study for a partial course credit. Quantitative analysis revealed that participants reported experiencing significantly less amount of regret following guided meditation. Results suggest that 75% of the participants were able to process their regretful experiences and have a better understanding of self-acceptance
Queuing Theory in Theme Parks
Get PDFThe goal of this project is to find the most efficient way for theme parks to process their guests. There currently exist many types of lines such as standby lines, single rider lines, and fastpass or skip the line queues. We will simulate a single rides queue. This will be a popular roller coaster at the park. Hourly throughputs of rides will be calculated, and a simulation will be created for the ride to start processing guests through different line scenarios. Through this method, we will find the best method for a park to process as many guests as they can, therefore shortening wait times and improving guest experiences. We will assume a perfect operating day, meaning no breakdowns, rain or ride closures. The final step will be to look at the strength of the model and see how far it can be expanded to create better guest experiences at the park
The Effects of Commitment and Trust on the Relationship Between Service Quality and University Brand Loyalty in Time of Crisis
No full textExisting literature on university brand loyalty (UBL) has less focused on a marketing-oriented perspective, or relationship marketing, and its impact on testing UBL. The aim of this study is to identity the roles and impacts of trust and commitment, which are main factors that create a relationship, in the relationship between university service quality, student satisfaction (SAT), and UBL and discuss its implications for university approaches of the marketing-oriented perspective. A self-report study was conducted with a total sample of 301 undergraduate students from four universities in the USA. PLS-SEM and path analysis were employed to test each hypothetical relationship. This study identified that trust and commitment play important roles as mediators in the relationship between SAT and UBL. Therefore, the findings support contributions of this study by offering implications that universities need to focus on building and maintaining the quality of relationship with students.https://opus.govst.edu/fac/1273/thumbnail.jp

A Tomorrow Mentality
No full textA Tomorrow Mentality is an artwork created by Kaylin Richey that is inspired by mental health and the promotion of inclusion and equality. The love of art is the reason the medium for this artwork is canvas. An important mentality that is included in this artwork is that the only way that we can truly have inclusion in the world is to allow every human being to have the same opportunities, resources, and support as any other human being. A Tomorrow Mentality will show just how freeing it is for everyone to be able to express the effects of mental illnesses as well as show how quickly we can get to our tomorrow if we understand that race, religion, beliefs, gender and culture should not stop us from getting the proper counseling and support that is needed to treat and to alleviate the symptoms of mental illnesses. This creative project is created in response to the large numbers of individuals in the African-American community that are skeptical towards showing they have mental illnesses, as well as those that do not understand that African-Americans have been forced to suppress their feelings, thoughts, and their confidence for many reasons. This has created the impersonal relationship African Americans have with mental illnesses today. A Tomorrow Mentality has simple lines and shapes because this is to promote a happier feeling towards a more sensitive subject. This is a psychological tactic that the artist has chosen to incorporate into the painting, and what this tactic is doing is creating a more light-hearted visual towards a more grave subject which lessens the tension surrounding this subject. Lastly, this artwork is unique, progressive, and inclusive because it supports the visual learners as well as the auditory learners
Intent Versus Result: Policy Implications for Equity
No full textThe journey to ensuring and maintaining equality for all people has proven to be a long and elusive path that, seemingly, never ends. Civil rights laws, over the course of many years, have been watered down and chipped away due to of court challenges and varying interpretations. This giving and taking away process, taking place since the end of slavery, has shown a pattern that may be indicative of the future. The purpose of this study is to understand the changes in civil rights and how strategies to erode these rights have affected public administrators’ decisions, pertaining to the implementation of policies and procedures, that are based upon how laws are written and how rhetoric is perceived. A qualitative approach will be used along with interviews and a critical discourse analysis. This analytical technique shows how language shapes discursive and socio-cultural practices. The technique allows for a deeper look into power dynamics that may result in marginalization (Fairclough, 1989, 1995a, 1995b; as cited in McCandless & Elias, 2020). Public administrators, of all races and ages, will be studied in Illinois. The study is expected to begin by August 2023. Anthony Giddens’ Theory of Structuration will be used for this study. This theory explains that social structures, that have been put in place, constrain some people while enabling others. These constraints foster freedom and power for some people while denying freedom and power to others. These social structures are left in place when they do what society intends (Giddens, 1984)
It\u27s a Family Affair: Addressing the Needs of Black Caregivers Through a Community Based Dementia Caregiver Program
No full textBackground: Racial disparities exist in dementia diagnosis, co-morbid health conditions, and socioeconomic characteristics between older Black and White adults, compounding caregiving responsibilities for Black families; yet few dementia caregiving programs offer culturally competent, family-centered dementia caregiving programs for Black individuals. In a collaboration between two community-based organizations (CBO) and an academic medical center, we sought to establish a culturally tailored, family-centered, dementia caregiving program for Black individuals on Chicago\u27s Far South Side. Methods: A team of stakeholders identified by the CBOs was convened to discuss the need for the proposed program and co-designed a key informant interview guide. The team conducted virtual key-informant interviews among Black caregivers of family members with dementia who are residents of the far south side of Chicago. Results: We conducted 30 interviews. Caregivers were an average of 57 years old, predominantly female (85%), and primarily caring for parents or grandparents. Many shared caregiving responsibilities with other family members. Caregivers recommended the program focus on five top concerns related to their caregiving experience: 1) feelings of stress and burden while being committed to their family member with dementia, 2) education on the progression of dementia and discussion of cultural beliefs, 3) personal experiences with racism and intersectional identities, 4) kinship responsibilities and managing dementia-specific changes that occur with loved ones, and 5) a need for respite and local medical and community-based resources. Conclusion: This feedback will help elevate Black dementia caregiver experiences to better understand the influence that race and culture has on Black caregivers, cultivate a family-centered caregiver program, and contribute to the field because minimal research has focused on Black family-centered dementia caregiving to build capacity in routine caregiving and reduce caregiver stress
