The authors maintain a focus on applied educational research throughout the text, with practical tips and advice on how to do high-quality quantitative research.
This book teaches research design (including epistemology, research ethics, forming research questions, quantitative design, sampling methodologies, and design assumptions) and introductory statistical concepts (including descriptive statistics, probability theory, and sampling distributions), basic statistical tests (like z and t), ANOVA designs, including more advanced designs like the factorial ANOVA and mixed ANOVA, simple linear regression, and multiple regression using SPSS for analysis. Designed specifically for an introductory graduate course in research design and statistical analysis, the book takes students through principles by presenting case studies, describing the research design principles at play in each study, and then asking students to walk through the process of analyzing data that reproduce the published results. No full textThis session will provide a deeper insight into communication barriers in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. When people with hearing loss experience a communication barrier in their career, education, and family upbringing, it leads to language deprivation. When language deprivation occurs, we can see situational and economic dispowerment along with audist attitudes toward the culturally marginalized group which is the deaf and hard of hearing people. This session will highlight the importance of being aware of explicit and implicit biases and promote inclusivity. As a famous deaf actress and activist, Marlle Matlin quoted, I hope I can inspire people who can hear. Hearing people have the ability to remove barriers that prevent deaf people from achieving their dream. During this session, it is my goal to inspire all and recognize our ability to become an ally together to dismantle the communication barriers that people who cannot hear endure every day

No full textThis thesis examines the effectiveness of different techniques for teaching Spanish vocabulary to second language learners, specifically focusing on students in SPAN 101 at Minnesota State University, Mankato. It compares traditional flashcards with vocabulary exercises contextualized within language contexts to determine the most impactful method for long-term retention and practical application of Spanish vocabulary. Using a mixed-methods research approach, including pre- and post-assessments and qualitative data collection, the study involves 42 Spanish students. The analysis reveals distinct outcomes: traditional flashcards result in an average improvement of 13.38% in vocabulary correctness, while in-context activities show a more substantial enhancement of 17.47%. In conclusion, this thesis provides valuable insights into effective vocabulary acquisition techniques for Spanish as a second language learners. It advocates for integrating contextualized learning experiences to enhance vocabulary retention and practical application, ultimately fostering more engaging and effective language learning environments
