Wavering Masculinities
Wavering Masculinities is a compilation of anthropological research, exploration of self-identity/belonging, and deep dive into the cultural expectations of heterosexuality (as it relates to gender expression). The works convey a physical connection to my anthropological research to produce imagery about masculine behaviors and appearances, and the deviations of those appearances and behaviors. This exhibition looks at the line between masculine and feminine expression from the male-identifying perspective to inquire about the amount of feminine traits that can be possessed until sexuality is questioned/assumed (and why does being feminine have to be a bad thing?!

Minnesota School Boards Association Communications Internship
My internship at Minnesota School Boards Association allowed me to gain more experience within the communications field. This internship allowed me to see how current communications professionals are working within the non-profit sector that isn’t directly related to environmental matters. It was beneficial to learn from these experts while improving on my hard and soft skills within the communications field. This will help show future employers that I didn’t just study communications, but I actively practiced this work within the communications field. The Minnesota School Boards Association is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1920 in St. Peter MN. The association’s goals are to be a leading advocate for public education. They provide support, educate, strengthen, and promote the work of Minnesota school boards. They work with all public-school boards of every size and location including large, small, urban and rural areas to help them get their crucial needs met. They are a small group with 20 staff members with experience in elections, advocacy, policy, communications, finance, management, and governance. MSBA provides workshops, services, resources, and connections to help board members
HIV Funding Matters: Sustaining Progress, Saving Lives
By 2023, 39.9 million people globally live with HIV, 1.4 million children and 38.6 million adults (WHO, 2025), yet unstable funding threatens progress in prevention and treatment. This fragility is starkly illustrated by Minnesota’s 24% HIV case surge in 2023, the largest increase in a decade, signaling urgent needs for sustained investment. Simultaneously, older adults with HIV endure compounding vulnerabilities in long-term care (LTC) systems, where stigma, discrimination, and culturally incompetent care violate their rights. Legislative action, such as the HIV Long-Term Care Bill of Rights, is needed in Minnesota to ensure equitable access and protections for aging individuals living with HIV. Inspired by New York’s Senate Bill S1783A and supported by advocacy organizations like SAGE, this policy brief urges Minnesota legislators to introduce and support similar legislation that safeguards dignity, equity, and comprehensive care for our state’s most vulnerable residents
