Father\u27s Sins, Son\u27s Consequences
Out of all of the theological and spiritual topics, generational curses are rarely discussed, although the few who consider them can have widely diverse opinions. This is why researching the topic is difficult. Few write about it, and when they do, they often have strong but not well-argued opinions. This portion of demonology is a topic that dates back centuries. There has been evidence of magic, witchcraft, and curses throughout all of our human history. It fills our books and movies as well as our imaginations. Many scoff at the idea of its actual existence, but those who have tangled with dark sorcery understand its very real presence among us. Whether the people who have experienced it are for witchcraft or against it, they both can agree that it is real.
There will be discussion in this paper about the Biblical basis for believing in curses, the definitions of generational curses, how demons are passed down, how Freemasonry is related to this idea of generational curses, stories of survivors and witnesses of generational curses, and how curses can be lifted. I aim to explain what generational curses are and argue that we should think they do exist. Not every portion of suffering that we experience is directly related to demons or is caused by a curse, but it is my mission not to let these phenomena go fully unnoticed or ruled out as an option without due investigation. This paper will handle the data and information gathered through a Catholic lens, since the Catholic church has extensively researched this topic. My prayer is that more people will come to God with these problems and seek help when needed. All glory to the Father who is good and on our side
Predicting Watermelon Sweetness from Induced Vibrations
The main goal of this project was to determine the best sound frequencies produced from thumping a watermelon that predict sweetness. Building on previous research, a program using MATLAB would separate the thump signal into its corresponding harmonic frequencies using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). These frequencies, along with the watermelon\u27s weight and other information from the FFT spectrum, are used to determine a correlation between the recorded data and a watermelon’s sweetness level, measured by a refractometer in Brix. After testing numerous watermelons, a linear regression model was developed to predict a watermelon’s potential sweetness, with promising results. This process has been programmed into an iPhone app so that testing can be done anywhere within seconds. The hope was to make the process available to the public so that they could regularly select better watermelons before leaving the store and cutting the watermelon, which we have achieved with a new iPhone app. A future goal is to continue to determine if the same regression model will work for similar melons, like cantaloupe and honeydew, as well as bring the app to the Android platform
Screenagers: Screen Time and Mental Health in College Students
This thesis and research project explore the relationship between screen time and mental distress among college students. With the rapid evolution of technology, personal devices have become deeply integrated into the daily routines of college-age students. While these tools offer educational and social benefits, excessive use, especially on social media platforms, has been associated with adverse psychological outcomes in past literature. This study investigates the extent to which screen time and social media use correlate with symptoms of mental distress, including depression, anxiety, and stress.
Participants were recruited from two southern universities and provided self-reported screen time data, including both general device use and time explicitly spent on social media. Data were averaged over a one-week period to reflect typical usage patterns. To assess psychological well-being, participants completed the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS), a validated instrument for measuring mental distress. Specifically, the questionnaire examined levels of depression, anxiety, and stress. In addition, participants responded to the Social Media Disorder Scale (SMD) for evaluation of behaviors associated with social media addiction.
Findings revealed a positive correlation between increased screen time and elevated levels of mental distress. Notably, higher social media addiction levels were associated with more severe depression, anxiety, and stress scores. These results suggest that screen time, particularly when concerning social media, may contribute to mental health challenges among college students.
Given the growing dependence on digital platforms, these results emphasize the need for awareness, education, and practical guidelines surrounding responsible technology use. Promoting digital well-being and encouraging mindful screen habits could help combat the psychological risks associated with excessive screen time. As screen use is likely to continue increasing, this study provides a foundation for future research and campus-based mental health initiatives to foster healthier digital behaviors among students
Here Comes the Bride: A Theological Exploration of a Christ-Honoring Wedding
There is a reason why weddings have been around for so long: it\u27s the closest picture that people have of Christ\u27s ultimate return. There is no greater picture than a wedding to describe the ultimate Bridegroom (Jesus Christ) coming back for his Bride (the church and his people). Although weddings might look different in many cultures, they all have the same meaning: two people partake in a celebration because they have become one. This raises the question: if God deemed this to be one of the closest representations people have of his return for his people, what are some practical ways Christians can keep this theme at the center of the big day?
This paper will explore the themes of how the term Be Ready plays in the betrothal/engagement period and the effort that is required. The next section, The Invite List - Who\u27s Invited will discuss how logistics should come second in the process of planning for a wedding. The third chapter will highlight the ceremony aspect of a wedding and discuss the themes of the promise having been fulfilled and the significance of two becoming one. The final chapter will discuss the final element of a wedding: the reception. The two themes discuss the importance of celebrating in the community and that the wait is finally over.
This theological exploration will discuss historical, biblical, and contemporary wedding traditions based on the four elements of a wedding, which highlight the greater picture of Christ coming back for his church. Furthermore, it will discuss that in light of this knowledge, there are key themes that Christian couples should keep in mind as they approach their wedding day
