This study examines the relationships among epidemic anxiety, religious coping (positive and negative), spiritual well-being, and tranquility during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the study investigates potential differences in these variables based on gender and age. The sample consisted of 405 participants. The data is collected using the Epidemic Anxiety Scale, the Religious Coping Scale, the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, and the Tranquility Scale. The findings reveal a positive and significant relationship between epidemic anxiety and both positive and negative religious coping, but no significant relationship with overall spiritual well-being or tranquility. Examining the subscales, positive and negative religious coping are positively and significantly associated with spiritual well-being. The study finds a weak negative relationship with tranquility and negative religious coping. Crucially, a significant positive relationship between spiritual well-being and tranquility is discovered. These results were discussed within the existing literature, highlighting the complex interplay between epidemic-related anxiety, religious coping mechanisms, spiritual well-being, and the experience of tranquility during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the implications for supporting individuals’ well-being during public health crises are considered

The objective of this study was to determine the presence of C. difficile in seafood, to identify the ribotype of isolates, to reveal the distribution of their toxinogenic genes and to evaluate the antibiotic susceptibility of C. difficile strains. For this purpose, a total of 755 seafood samples were analysed. Sixteen isolates were verified as C. difficile [14 (5.28%) bivalve molluscs and 2 (2.0%) shrimp] whereas none of the ribotypes detected were human pathogenic ribotypes. Among C. difficile isolates only one of the bivalve mollusc (RT003) was found to be toxigenic (A+B+CDT+) that had also toxin-producing ability. All isolates were sensitive to vancomycin and resistant to cefotaxime. Results of this study indicate that the rate of C. difficile in seafood is much lower than in meat or poultry products. However, consumption of raw or undercooked contaminated bivalve molluscs could be a potential source of C. difficile that may pose a risk to human health.Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of Idot;stanbul University-Cerrahpasa [TSA-2019-32956]This work was supported by the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of & Idot;stanbul University-Cerrahpasa under Grant [number TSA-2019-32956]

Performance of CMS muon reconstruction from proton-proton to heavy ion collisions

    Get PDF
The performance of muon tracking, identification, triggering, momentum resolution, and momentum scale has been studied with the CMS detector at the LHC using data collected at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV in proton-proton (pp) and lead-lead (PbPb) collisions in 2017 and 2018, respectively, and at root s(NN) = 8.16 TeV in proton-lead (pPb) collisions in 2016. Muon efficiencies, momentum resolutions, and momentum scales are compared by focusing on how the muon reconstruction performance varies from relatively small occupancy pp collisions to the larger occupancies of pPb collisions and, finally, to the highest track multiplicity PbPb collisions. We find the efficiencies of muon tracking, identification, and triggering to be above 90% throughout most of the track multiplicity range. The momentum resolution and scale are unaffected by the detector occupancy. The excellent muon reconstruction of the CMS detector enables precision studies across all available collision systems.FWF; FNRS; FWO (Belgium); CNPq; CAPES; FAPERJ; FAPERGS; FAPESP (Brazil); BNSF (Bulgaria); MoST; NSFC (China); CSF (Croatia); RIF (Cyprus); SENESCYT (Ecuador); ERC PRG [MoER TK202]; Academy of Finland; MEC; CEA; CNRS/IN2P3 (France); SRNSF; BMBF; DFG; HGF (Germany); NKFIH (Hungary); DAE; DST; IPM; SFI (Ireland); INFN (Italy); NRF (Republic of Korea); MES (Latvia); MOE; UM (Malaysia); BUAP; CONACYT; UASLP-FAI (Mexico); PAEC (Pakistan); FCT (Portugal); MESTD (Serbia); PCTI (Spain); MOSTR (Sri Lanka); Swiss Funding Agencies (Switzerland); NSTDA; TUBITAK; DOE; NSF; Marie-Curie program; European Research Council; Horizon 2020 Grant [675440, 724704, 752730, 758316, 765710, 824093, 101115353, 101002207]; COST Action [CA16108]; Leventis Foundation; Alfred P. No full text
Web of Science veri tabanında 2019–2024 yılları arasında bulunan 176 araştırmaya erişim sağlanmıştır. Digitalisation is important for efficiency and competitiveness in a rapidly changing business world. This study has two objectives. The first is to evaluate the quantity and quality of Turkish publications by determining the studies in Social Sciences Citation Index, Science Citation Index Expanded, Emerging Sources Citation Index, Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Conference Proceedings on the concept of "industry 5.0", which states that technologies in enterprises should be human-oriented and durable within the scope of sustainability, and "enterprises" that include the industry 5.0 system in their strategy. Citation Index - Book Citation Index to evaluate the quantity and quality of Turkish publications. The second aim of the study is to identify the gaps in the literature by conducting a bibliometric analysis in relational and interactional techniques on businesses that incorporate the Industry 5.0 system as a business model and to make suggestions for new studies to be conducted in this context. The variables put forward in the study are associated with the "Stakeholder Theory". Digital businesses, which act in line with the purpose of Industry 5.0, act in the dimension of sustainability within the scope of stakeholder theory. In the study, the data obtained from the Web Of Science database were analysed using the bibliometric method with R, and the results were interpreted by scanning the concepts of "Industry 5.0" and "Business". Access to 176 studies in the Web of Science database between 2019 and 2024 was provided. The analyses show that the highest number of studies was in 2023 with 94 works and the average number of citations was 11,283. There are 5 articles originating from Turkey. Industry 5.0 is a current concept and it is evaluated that it will be discussed more and more every year both in our country and in the international literature and will make significant contributions to the digitalised future of businesses

Evaluation of Hemogram Parameters in the Diagnosis of Pulmonary Embolism: Immature Granulocytes and Other New Tips

    Get PDF
Pulmonary embolism (PE) is an important cause of sudden death and is difficult to diagnose. Therefore unnecessary radiological investigations are often resorted to. Although some inflammatory parameters in the hemogram have been found to play a role in the diagnosis of PE, many parameters have not been adequately investigated. We aimed to evaluate potential inflammatory parameters in hemogram in the diagnosis of PE and to determine the parameters with the highest diagnostic value. This single-center, retrospective study was performed by evaluating 114 cases with suspected PE admitted to the emergency department between January 2017 and June 2022. Among 114 cases, 62 cases with a definitive diagnosis of PE by pulmonary computed tomography angiography served as the PE group and 52 cases without PE served as the control group. Admission hemogram parameters of both groups were recorded. Potential chronic diseases and acute conditions affecting hemogram were excluded from the study. In the multivariate model; immature granulocyte (IG), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte % and platelet large cell ratio (P-LCR) were found to be significantly and independently effective in differentiating cases with and without PE (P<.05). Our findings suggest that high IG, high NLR, high monocyte %, and low P-LCR values have diagnostic value in cases with suspected PE. However the usability of IGs in the diagnosis of PE is a new finding. Hemogram is cheap, easily accessible, and potential inflammatory biomarkers in hemograms may increase physicians' awareness in the diagnosis of PE

An analysis of the relationship of “the Mozart effect” with BDNF levels in anatomy education

    Get PDF
In 1993, an increase was observed in the spatial IQ scores of the volunteers who listened to Mozart's sonata K448 for 10 min, and this phenomenon entered the literature as the “Mozart effect.” Other studies have shown that this effect is particularly evident in spatial skill tests. A large body of research has provided evidence that spatial ability is associated with success in learning anatomy. In this study, Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine students were divided into two groups during 16-h practical training spanning 30 days. While one of the groups listened to Mozart's K448 sonata as the background music in all lessons, the control group attended the lessons in their standard form. At the end of each lesson, all students solved a modified mental rotation test including questions involving anatomical structures. Before starting the study, after the first laboratory class, on the 15th and 30th day of the study, blood samples were taken from the participants, and plasma brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels were determined. The effect of time on mental rotation score and plasma BDNF level was significant (p < 0.001 for both). The effect of group was also significant (p < 0.001 for both). Pairwise comparisons showed significance in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth mental rotation test (p < 0.001, p = 0.041, p < 0.001, p < 0.001, respectively) and in the third (Day 15) and fourth (Day 30) BDNF measurement (p < 0.001 for both). Our findings may indicate that specific background music may be useful for anatomy teaching. © 2024 American Association for Anatomy

This research aims to examine the fields of modernism and the formative factors of modern Iranian and Turkish visual art and to analyze the structure of the works by focusing on the use of traditional elements by modern Iranian and Turkish painters in a worldwide arena through analyzing their formal elements. To achieve this, the Saqaqhana movement, which is the most important and relatively consistent movement of modern art, has been selected as the main case study and the works of artists called Group D in Turkey are examined and their effects on the formation of contemporary art are revisited in this research. Iran's modernist art has been influenced by developments in Western art, and after the first phase of repeating Western modern art, it tried to create modern art based on Iranian origin. The first movement was presented as the Saqakhaneh, with approaches such as the use of traditional Iranian elements that Iranian painters have widely used since the 20s. This movement, which continues to play an important role in the formation of contemporary Iranian art, has greatly benefited from the elements of calligraphy. While examining the role of traditional art in creating this flow, the functions of calligraphy and its interaction with contemporary art will be scrutinized in this study
