High Stakes, High Stress: Improving Stakes and Combating Stress Through Accreditation Collaboration
Accreditation has become increasingly confusing for EPPs. With competing organizations, revised standards, and calls for more quality in both quantitative and qualitative documentation, faculty are struggling to find time, energy, and resources (human, fiscal, and physical). Increased collaboration between EPP faculty and consultants has become an attractive avenue for peace
Tré Smith Living Memoirs Interview
Tré shared about his time as a teacher at Palau Mission Academy on the island of Palau. He discussed the joy of seeing results in his students and how his experience affirmed his professional interests.
Palau is an island country in the western Pacific Ocean located in the southwest corner of Micronesia. Palau consists of eight inhabited islands, and the primary languages are Palauan and English. Over 5% of the population is Seventh-day Adventist (as of 2020), and the islands are known for their marine life and coral reefs.

The Impact of Physical Activity Education During Pregnancy
Abstract
Background: Physical Activity (PA) during pregnancy is important to maintain optimal maternal and neonatal health. Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) requires close monitoring during pregnancy due to the health risk it can cause to mother and fetus. It is evident that PA can help improve maternal health outcomes to positively offer overall wellness throughout the pregnancy.
Objective: The purpose of this Quality Improvement Project (QIP) is to evaluate the impact of PA education on PA implementation during pregnancy and improve clinical practice for healthcare providers to introduce PA education during prenatal care per ACOG and CESP guidelines.
Method: This quality improvement project administered pre-and post-quantitative Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaires (PPAQ) within a timeframe of 4 weeks. The population seen in the practice were mostly African Americans and Caucasian Americans from ages 15 to 40 years old. PA education was offered to all study participants from gestational ages 8 to 28 weeks. PA education was given after the distribution of the pre-PPAQ. Interventional phase was done during week two and three, at week four the post-PPAQ was distributed and a six-question survey to evaluate the increment of PA during the 4 weeks.
Results: The mean and standard deviation of each metric were calculated for both the pretest and posttest measures. The results showed that the mean total activity score significantly decreased from pretest (M = 287.58, SD = 218.10) to posttest (M = 196.53, SD = 113.18), t(11) = 2.61, p = .023. Comparably, the mean total light intensity score significantly decreased from pretest (M = 270.42, SD = 222.20) to posttest (M = 180.23, SD = 111.83), t(11) = 2.36, p = .036. In contrast, there were no significant changes in the mean scores for sedentary behavior, light intensity, moderate intensity, vigorous activity, house activity, occupational activity, sports, transportation, or inactivity between the pretest and posttest measures. Therefore, the participants\u27 total PA levels and total light intensity levels significantly decreased over time, while their levels of sedentary behavior and other types of PA remained relatively stable.
Conclusion: The results of the quality improvement project indicate that providing PA education could be beneficial for pregnant women. The provision of PA education was found to improve receptiveness and provide important information on the implementation of PA using gold standard guidelines during pregnancy. However, further research with larger sample sizes is needed to validate these findings.

Military Campaigns and the Location of Shipbuilding in Antiquity
Scholarship on ancient Mediterranean fleets and shipbuilding has devoted relatively little attention to the question of where ships were built. This is due in part to a scarcity of evidence (which is not to say an absolute lack), though what evidence survives makes it clear that practices varied widely. States could choose between building ships within their own territory, constructing vessels abroad in locations selected for proximity to key resources (especially timber), or building fleets in strategic locations chosen with military objectives in mind (such as proximity to an ongoing theater of a war). Depending on circumstances, the same state might employ a variety of shipbuilding locations; at different points in its history, Classical Athens appears to have embraced all three of the aforementioned shipbuilding strategies. This paper explores how states made precisely such decisions. Focusing especially on shipbuilding during major military campaigns, I seek to differentiate the strategic calculations at play in the midst of war from strategies governing a state\u27s routine annual shipbuilding and incremental expansion of its navy
Examining the Different Soil Horizons of White Oak Mountain, TN and their Effect on the Soil Microbial Community
Soil microorganisms participate in the diverse interaction within virtually all ecosystems, consequently affecting the associated human and animal population. Identifying how edaphic variables alter the functional and taxonomic diversity of the soil microbial community requires an examination of total microbial soil diversity and abundance. This research study examined the effect of soil depth and horizon on the soil microbial community composition of White Oak Mountain. The soil microbial community was characterized by 16S/18S/ITS rDNA amplicon sequencing of the DNA extract of six samples from the three major soil types identified: HcE, MoE, and uMvC. OTU clustering analysis and both alpha and beta diversity were analyzed to determine whether soil depth and horizon correlate with soil microbial community composition. This research project aims to establish a baseline of the representative soil microbial diversity of White Oak Mountain and provide data to be used as a reference for future studie
Using Azure AutoML to Analyze the Effect of Attendance and Seat Choice on University Student Grades
Teachers often claim that class attendance and sitting at the front of a classroom improves student grades. This study employs machine learning on a private University\u27s attendance data to analyze this claim. We perform a correlation analysis in Azure by training regression models. No correlation is found. Next we use the K-means clustering algorithm in Azure. At k=2 clusters, a cluster with perfect attendance shows a higher average grade than a cluster with a late attendance average. Seat choice within the classroom does not prove important to the clustering models
Expression and Characterization of Virus-like Particles Displaying Extra Cellular Loops Of Outer Membrane Proteins Of Treponema Pallidum As A Potential Syphilis Vaccine Platform
The spirochete Treponema pallidum is a global, sexually transmitted human pathogen, which causes the multistage infectious disease syphilis. During the past several decades, various attempts have been made to develop a vaccine that protects against syphilitic infection. T. pallidum’s OMP repertoire includes a family of four outer membrane factors (OMFs) for efflux protein, each characterized by trimeric structure and bipartite membrane topology. Virus-like particles (VLPs) are composed of bacteriophage structural proteins that have successfully been used to display various foreign epitopes for immunization. In this project, we produced VLP extra-cellular loops (ECLs) from two T. pallidum OMFs: Tp0968 and Tp0969 to characterize antigens targeting T. pallidum. A positive result would bring us one-step closer to developing of an effective vaccine for syphilis, a global public health problem
Incorporation of Thiophenes and Benzothiophenes into Novel Pi-Extended Dibenzophosphole Systems
Dibenzophospholes are molecules with extended pi conjugation. This project aims to incorporate thiophenes and benzothiophenes into dibenzophosphole systems by using 2-bromothiophene, 2-bromobenzothiophene, and 3-bromobenzothiophene as starting materials. An ethyne intermediate is created via the Sonagashira reaction, which is further reacted to form the novel dibenzophosphole system. The ultimate goal is to fuse the newly incorporated functional groups, creating an even greater degree of conjugation
The Relationship of Marijuana, Alcohol, and Nicotine on Depression and Anxiety
More than 60% of college students have met the criteria for at least one mental health issue in the 21-22 school year. In addition to that, substance use is in an all time high among young adults. The purpose of this study is to educate and inform young adults along with their authority figures about the impact marijuana, alcohol, and nicotine have on anxiety and depression
