    How Can We Experimentally Study the Collisions in the Interstellar Media?

    Interstellar medium is a very low-density environment where particles such as H, H-, H2+, and H3+ can live long enough. The experimental studies on these particles are not synchronized with the theoretical studies despite the fact that these particles make up more than 99% of any known stellar medium. One of the reasons is that these particles are so exotic rendering any experimental study technologically very challenging. During this oral presentation, some experimental methods that are currently used to watch and follow the dances of these astrophysical particles will be presented

    Revisiting Einstein\u27s Formula to Shed Light on the Mass and Charge Distributions of Slow Electrons

    Considering Einstein’s equation as a quantum mechanics wave equation, W2/c2 = p2 + m02c2, Dirac concluded that electrons possess oscillatory motions so that the instantaneous speed would be always equal to c. Based on his results, several models of the electron trajectory were proposed. One of the goals was to shed light on the mass and electric charge distributions of the electron. However, most of the findings failed to fit together with fundamental quantities such as the magnetic moment. As Einstein’s energy equation mirrors the Pythagorean Theorem, a simple point of view suggests that (pc) and (moc2) could be thought of as the two orthogonal energy-axes of a plane. According to de Broglie\u27s hypothesis, the pc-axis is related to the wave properties, whereas the other axis, containing the mass, is connected to the particle properties such as moment of inertia. By embracing the wave-particle duality, the aforementioned equation is very helpful for considering possible models of the electron in a quantum setting. We suggest that the two axes are quantized because, on one side, wave properties may lead to quantization and, on the other side, the moment of inertia is a quantity connected to the spin. Intuitively, Pythagorean triples, which are three positive integers satisfying the Pythagorean theorem, constitute sets of solutions, also effectively quantized. We determine the possible charge and mass distributions and study the agreement with the oscillatory motion and Dirac\u27s prediction of the magnetic moment

    In 1856, Leidy rst identied Troodontidae as a taxonomic unit. It was not until 1945 that C.M. Sternberg assigned it to a family status. There has been much debate on taxonomic naming in this family, but in 1987, Currie conated all previous names into a single species, Troodon formosus. On the basis of isolated teeth, Carpenter (1982) suggested a second species, Pectinodon bakkeri from the Lance Formations. With limited specimens (24), Longrich (2008) proposed tooth positioning for the 4 tooth types he dened. This was especially challenging since no cranial or post-cranial skeletal structures have yet been identied. Over the past 10 years, more than 500 P. bakkeri teeth have been collected from the Neufeld microsite on the Hanson ranch in northeast Wyoming. Initial collection of teeth from a western harvester ant nest, led to test sampling 12 plots on a grid spaced 8 meters apart. Additional sampling of the most productive area produced over 2000 dened elements including P. bakkeri teeth. By measuring physical features such as crown height, basal width, basal length, posterior denticles per mm., anterior denticles, and wear marks, we have identied three major clusters of tooth shapes.     Do Nurse Spiritual Responses to Trauma Explain Nurse Outcomes?: A Correlational Observational Study

    Background: Various facets of spirituality are associated with well-being. Given the current urgency to promote nurse well-being, nurse spirituality merits exploration. Purpose: To investigate how spiritual distress and growth (i.e., spiritual/religious struggle, moral injury, and post-traumatic growth) contributed to nurse outcomes (i.e., burnout, job satisfaction, and intent to leave). Methods: Registered nurse (RNs) providing direct patient care in three Southern California hospitals completed an online survey that included psychometrically robust measures. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses were used to test spiritual variables as predictors of nurse outcomes after accounting for demographic and work-related factors. Findings: In this sample of 531 demographically diverse RNs, spiritual struggle contributed to burnout and turnover intention; post-traumatic growth and employer respect for nurse well-being contributed to all three nurse outcomes. Discussion: Spiritual distress and growth are understudied but potentially important influences on job outcomes for nurses. The results here suggest that continued development of interventions to address spiritual health is worth investment
