Effects of Technology on Attention Spans and Academic Success within GenZ*
This research explores the relationship between technology use, attention spans, and academic performance amongst Generation Z (Gen Z). As digital devices become increasingly integrated into daily life, we want to explore the effects of the potential impact on cognitive functions, such as sustained attention. This research seeks to answer whether or not media and attention span affect Gen Z college students in their academics, and if their specific major plays a role in how much their media usage is. Through a mixed-methods approach, the research obtains self-report surveys and task results from about 70 university students to gather data in the study. There are two self-report surveys that participants completed, one created to collect other measures and participant data, and the other, from online to assess attention span. The tasks that the researchers will administer include an attention span task in which participants completed one computer-based task: the N-back test to assess working memory and attention span
AI-Powered Health & Nutrition Dashboard: Enhancing Personalized Wellness with AI*
This research presents an AI-powered dashboard designed to enhance personalized wellness through customized meal and exercise planning. Leveraging Dash Plotly for interactive visualization and Google Gemini AI for dynamic recommendation generation, the dashboard integrates user inputs for fitness goals, dietary preferences, and health conditions, alongside body metrics (gender, age, weight, height, activity level). Initially developed with rule-based filtering, the system evolved to incorporate AI for improved accuracy and scalability in managing large-scale food and exercise datasets. This project demonstrates the potential of AI to democratize access to personalized wellness insights. For educational purposes only; not verified by medical professionals
A Machine-Learning Tool-Supported Methodology for Nonprofit Donor Analysis
We developed a machine-learning tool-supported methodology for modeling the nonprofit donor relationship. This approach was demonstrated in the case of a US-based nonprofit. Conclusions were drawn from this example and tool-support provided for use by other nonprofits

Vocational Calling in the Parable of the Talents
The concept of vocational calling is illustrated in the parable of the talents. The servants used their given abilities and thus became ambassadors for the Master. The effectiveness of a college or university to connect calling with vocation is rooted in their mission or past history and in their institutional vocation or future. It is also influenced by the vocabulary of calling on campus that changes over time. A few recent ways of how Southern Adventist University is teaching this purposeful exploration of vocation are noted. Southern Adventist University’s future lies in faculty and staff’s commitment to live their calling while traveling with students in their vocational journey, waiting for the Master’s return
Preparation for Spiritual Leadership from a Biblical Worldview through Mentoring at Southern Adventist University
This paper explores the theological and educational foundations for cultivating spiritual leadership through mentorship within the context of a Christian university, with a focus on Southern Adventist University. Anchored in a biblical worldview, the study examines how holistic student transformation—integrating behavior, beliefs, and worldview—can be fostered through intentional mentoring relationships that respond to students’ core questions of identity, belonging, and purpose (IBP). The paper articulates a framework of biblical transformation that extends beyond cognitive development to character formation rooted in Christlikeness. The author presents the Transformational Conversations Framework, a mentoring tool that guides faculty and staff in engaging students through three postures, filters, and phases (NOW-GOD-HOW), designed to stimulate personal reflection and spiritual growth. This framework is supported by data from the university’s Spiritual Life Survey, which highlights the link between mentorship and higher spiritual vitality among students. Through practical tools, theological insights, and measurable outcomes, the paper offers a model for sustainable, relationship-rich spiritual leadership development in Christian higher education
