The Influence of Digital Media on Diverse Consumer Goods

    No full text
This paper explores the intersection of short-form content, personalized advertising, and consumer behavior in the digital age. By combining academic research with hands-on video production, the study examines how visual elements in advertisements can capture attention and influence viewers\u27 perceptions. Through a series of video commercials created using simple production methods and fast-paced editing, the research investigates the impact of color, transitions, and pacing in short-form content. Drawing from theories of attention and consumer engagement, this paper highlights the growing importance of personalized, quick-hitting media in today’s fast-moving digital landscape. Ultimately, the project bridges theoretical concepts with practical video production, offering insights into how modern advertising can effectively connect with consumers in an increasingly distracted world

    No full text

An Evaluation on the Concentration of TRI Facilities in Relation to Racial and Socioeconomic Populations

    No full text
The objective of this study was to evaluate the placement of Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Facilities in relation to socio-economic and racial distribution by census block groups within the state of Michigan. The use of ArcGIS was to visually represent the location of TRI Facilities, Percentage of Race in census block groups, Median Household Income, a list of facility names, and a list of chemical names. The addition of instructions is to help navigate the map for users viewing the Dashboard. Distance from TRI Facilities to centroid points of census block groups was done to help find the correlation values. I found that percent African American populations had a weak-positive correlation for all three distances in miles (\u3e5,5-10,10-50). This was the opposite with the percentage of White populations having weak-negative correlation values. Income had little to no correlation with all three values. Overall, results indicate that the presence of a higher percentage of African American populations within a census block group is a predictor of where TRI Facilities will be located within Michigan

An Auto/Ethnographic Exploration of Communicative Resilience and Healing Through Art

    No full text
This independent study project investigates the resilience of artists and art as a pathway for healing. Through the lens of the communicative theory of resilience, this study aims to uncover specific processes which contribute to the resilience of artists, specifically through the creation of art. Using qualitative methods, I constructed in depth narrative interviews with five studio art majors, who shared their experiences with certain struggles as artists and how they were able to work through them. Particular stressors, or struggles, that I focused on included blocks in the creative process, mental health, and employment. Findings revealed that each of the five processes of the communicative theory of resilience aligned with certain ways in which artists worked through these struggles. Through these different, distinct communicative processes, artists were able to foster resilience and maintain a sense of hope in times of adversity. Artists employ strategies such as utilizing networks in the studio art department for support, holding on to their artistic identities, and considering alternative logics to work through these challenges and enact resilience. Findings further reveal that the creation of art itself is undoubtedly a pathway for healing, highlighting its ability to help individuals cope, deal with stress and engage in self-expression. This study situates these insights, offering a comprehensive understanding of the complexities surrounding the adversities of artists and healing pathways which emerge through the creation of art, providing a basis for future research in the field of resilience. Navigating Change: Analyzing Leadership Styles and Team Cohesion in College Basketball

    No full text
For many collegiate athletes, the four years spent playing the sport they love are among the most formative and memorable of their lives. These experiences are often shaped by the leadership of their coaches, team culture, and relationships with both teammates and coaches. The purpose of this study was to examine the leadership styles used to foster team cohesion within the basketball program at The College of Wooster. The researcher conducted interviews with eight participants who either coached or played for the program, focusing on leadership styles, team cohesion, unity, and interpersonal relationships. The findings revealed that Wooster basketball coaches attribute the program\u27s sustained success to the recruitment of high-character individuals. By prioritizing the recruitment of quality people, the coaching staff has been able to cultivate and maintain a strong, cohesive team culture that has endured for over three decades. This study underscores the critical role of leadership in shaping team dynamics and highlights how intentional recruitment strategies contribute to long-term program stability and success

    No full text
This paper aims to create a digital cultural repository about life at the College of Wooster in order to examine the ways user interface design choices affect the representation and presentation of significant cultural information in a digital setting. It does so through its study of the history of virtual museums and the use of contemporary technologies in museum and cultural contexts. It also examines general design principles as well as more specific guidelines for user interface design. The specific implementation of the College of Wooster Cultural Repository is also explained as a means to inspire other web designers and those who may be interested in the implementation of a digital cultural repository. Finally, it explains its motivations as well as potential ethical concerns and future work to be done regarding digital representation of cultural information, in the context of the College of Wooster, and in general
