Monomyth or Monogamyth? Polyamory’s Conceptual Challenges to the Hero’s Journey
In the context of polyamorous relationships, a unicorn can be defined as a single, bisexual woman interested in forming a relationship with a heterosexual couple. Heroism scholars have suggested that the hero’s journey (or monomyth) can be used as a framework for understanding everyone’s life. By extension, it would be possible to frame the search for a receptive unicorn as a hero’s quest. Unicorn hunters are stigmatized by the general public for challenging the monogamyth, i.e., the monogamy norm. They are also criticized by the polyamorous community for privileging their own interests ahead of those of the women they are seeking. By finding a unicorn, a couple may disrupt the stability of their own relationship in addition to harming the unicorn’s well-being. The quest for a unicorn raises a warning about encouraging people to “follow their bliss” because of the possibility of producing collateral damage to the parties involved. In some instances, refraining from undertaking a heroic quest may be the better option

[Introduction to] Writing Centers at the Center of Change
Writing Centers at the Center of Change looks at how eleven centers, internationally, adapted to change at their institutions, during a decade when their very success has become a valued commodity in a larger struggle for resources on many campuses.
Bringing together both US and international perspectives, this volume offers solutions for adapting to change in the world of writing centers, ranging from the logistical to the pedagogical, and even to the existential. Each author discusses the origins, appropriate responses, and partners to seek when change comes from within a school or outside it. Chapters document new programs being formed under changing circumstances, and suggest ways to navigate professional or pedagogical changes that may undermine the hard work of more than four decades of writing-center professionals.
The book’s audience includes writing center and learning-commons administrators, university librarians, deans, department chairs affiliated with writing centers. From Kazimir Malevich’s Black Square to the Midnight Sun of Adi Da Samraj
The signature works of Kazimir Malevich and Adi Da Samraj provide the basis of a comparison between the two artists and bring into focus the drive and original intentions of the modernists of the early twentieth century and of a new “avant-garde” of the twenty-first century. For both artists the language of abstraction serves as a liberation from dominant conventional narratives that distract from rather than engender aesthetic ecstasy. Both invite the viewer’s participation in their works to be carried beyond the points of view of such narratives. Through the irony of his work, Malevich leaves his viewers stranded on a desert of incomprehensibility with a vision of reality only in the distance. Adi Da Samraj encourages and enables a demonstrable image-assisted subjective process through his work for the viewer to become Reality Itself

Concluding Remarks : Quandaries of Researching Middle East Politics
The conventional Anglophone wisdom about the Middle East is that “they” are mired in timeless, ancient antagonisms and enduring traditions: virtually changeless. Yet during the careers of today’s senior scholars, there have been many surprises: the 1979 Iranian revolution, Saddam Hussein’s occupation of Kuwait, two Anglo-American invasions of Iraq, the 2010/11 Arab uprisings, subsequent civil wars in Syria, Libya, Yemen, and elsewhere, and plenty of other events. Each upheaval wreaks havoc with research designs. Visas or research permits for holders of foreign passports or stipends can be revoked. Interlocutors or corner grocers may become suspicious. Security agents may follow you around, noting whom you have coffee with. Men, especially, might have their phones or laptops confiscated. A few have been brutalized. Junior scholars must be nimble, flexible, and defensive. A narrowly defined investigation, possibly framed by texts rather than interviews, is not only safe but potentially lucrative. Interpreting “local voices” brings them to “foreign” audiences and encourages dialogue
Aromatic Ouroboroi: Heterocycles Involving a Sigma-Donor-Acceptor Bond and 4n+2 Pi-Electrons
The aromaticity and dynamics of a set of recently proposed neutral 5- and 6-membered heterocycles that are closed by dative (donor–acceptor) or multi-center s bonds, and have resonance forms with a Hu¨ckel number of p-electrons, are examined. The donors and acceptors in the rings include N, O, and F, and B, Be, and Mg, respectively. The planar geometry of the rings, coupled with evidence from different measures of aromaticity, namely the NICSzz, and NICSpzz components of the conventional nucleus independent chemical shifts (NICS), and ring current strengths (RCS), indicate non-trivial degrees of aromaticity in certain cases, including the cyclic C3B2OH6 and C3BOH5 isomers, both with three bonds to the O site in the ring. The former is lower in energy by at least 17.6 kcal mol1 relative to linear alternatives obtained from molecular dynamics simulations in this work. Some of the other systems examined are best described as non-aromatic. Ring opening, closing, and isomerization are observed in molecular dynamics simulations for some of the systems studied.
