Vertical Flight Competition
No full textThe UP Vertical Flight capstone team endeavored to become UP’s first team to compete in the Vertical Flight Society’s (VFS) 8th Annual Student Micro Air Vehicle (MAV) Design Competition. The team designed a remotely piloted quadcopter capable of picking up and dropping off a package to comply with rules provided by VFS. The team built their design using purchased components and custom designed parts, and qualified for competition by providing video evidence and written documentation. Following the results of the virtual competition, the drone will be used to conduct research on behalf of the University.https://pilotscholars.up.edu/egr_project/1051/thumbnail.jp

Get PDFThe contributions of theologians like James Hal Cone and Katie Geneva Canon to the broader theological project of Black liberational theology allows for a rich discourse on what it means to be Black in the world, In doing this, memories of trauma must be engaged head on in ways that they become anamnetic moments for reimagining a new way of being human that is inclusive of all persons, Consequently, this work argues for the reimagination of the Black Church and its theologies that speak to Black experiences in ways that do not reinstate the hegemonic power of Whiteness as a mode of being in the world. Furthermore, the content and hermeneutic spaces shaping Black theology is critiqued with the intent to create a healthy space for the experiences of Black members of the LGBTQ+ community

Get PDFThe legend of a man who sells his soul to the devil in exchange for forbidden knowledge has enticed people throughout history. The reach of this myth extends across many cultures as it has been reinvented to reflect the values and fears of the societies that iterate upon it. In the pages that follow, I will share with you how I approached Christopher Marlowe’s masterpiece, Doctor Faustus, as a way to grapple with the issues of identity and the relationship to a higher power. On the way to doing that, allow me to share with you some of the background of Marlowe’s work and why I was attracted to it. I will also share my own personal struggles with the material and how I came to a deeper understanding of both the dual nature of the play, and the craft of directing as a whole
