I decided to write about Princess Rosalina from the Super Mario Franchise because of the maternal role she plays in the series. To create this paper, I synthesized information from multiple sources on family psychology and various Nintendo games to validate my argument. The Super Mario franchise (and the gaming industry at large) has a history of representing female characters through overexaggerated and harmful depictions, such as hyper sexualization and extreme helplessness. My desire to write about this topic increased when I noticed there were no articles or related media about this topic in the University of Dayton\u27s library.
