Artificial intelligence (AI) and its opportunity in healthcare organizations revenue cycle management (RCM)
Introduction: There has been the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in addressing challenges within the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) of healthcare organizations. The RCM process, laden with delays, inefficiencies, and high costs, has prompted a search for innovative solutions. With 470 billion cost to RCM. Healthcare organizations implementing AI and automation have experienced accelerated payment cycles, with payments processed within 40 days instead of the conventional 90 days. This has not only improved understanding of past denials but has also ensured better adherence to payer rules, resulting in a higher revenue percentage from claims.
Moreover, the impact of AI extended to Accounts Receivable (AR) management, with targeted recommendations that enhanced decision-making processes and increased AR collections by 1% of Net Patient Service Revenue (NPSR). AI\u27s role in improving work quality, as indicated by a 1.3% enhancement in resolved customer problems, has positively influenced job satisfaction among RCM professionals. Case studies, such as those of Auburn Community Hospital and OhioHealth, showcased AI\u27s effectiveness in computer-assisted coding, reduced unnecessary correspondences, improved staff experience, and generated personalized consumer profiles. Overall, AI\u27s integration has not only addressed workforce shortages and burnout but has also significantly improved comprehensive patient data analysis resulting in better quality of customer experience.
Discussion/ Conclusion: The research on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) demonstrated significant positive outcomes. The study supported the hypothesis that AI adoption in healthcare organizations leads to a substantial reduction in administrative costs, decreased staff burnout rates, and a notable improvement in the quality of customer experience. The multifaceted advantages of AI in RCM are highlighted, including precise estimation of out-of-pocket costs, automation of claim coding processes, and optimization of labor-intensive billing tasks. Financially, organizations leveraging AI report improved revenue capture, contributing to a significant reduction in the estimated $470 billion cost associated with RCM. The study emphasized the practical implications of AI, showcasing its ability to streamline processes, alleviate staff burnout, and enhance the overall patient financial experience. Despite certain limitations, the research underscored the transformative impact of AI in healthcare RCM, paving the way for increased efficiency, improved job satisfaction, and enhanced financial well-being for healthcare institutions
On ChatGPT and the Forces and Relations of Production
ChatGPT and artificial intelligence more generally are transformative technologies capable of liberating humanity from the necessity of burdensome toil. Recent discussions have neglected this possibility because they suffer from the sorts of cognitive distortions catalogued by Marx and the Marxist tradition. Technology fetishism, understood on the model of commodity fetishism, occurs when the use and development allowed by a certain mode of production appear as intrinsic features of the technology itself. Naturalistic mystification occurs when the socially contingent use and development of these technologies is made to appear natural and therefore inevitable. To those suffering from either distortion, it will appear that opposition to unfettered profit-seeking, along with the exploitation of workers and despoilation of nature that follows in its train, requires opposition to AI across the board. But there is nothing in the nature of AI that makes it better suited to the production of private profits than social goods. To think otherwise is to confuse the (natural) forces of production with the (social) relations of production, and distinguishing nature from convention is, as G. A. Cohen rightly observes, the foundation of all social criticism. I therefore suggest that criticisms of ChatGPT and AI should be focused on their real target: the capitalist mode of production that limits their use and development to socially malign ends
Pastor self-perceived preparedness and training to model and lead sensitivity in their congregations and spiritually lead LGBTQ individuals: a qualitative study of pastors of the Potomac Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God
Pastors are responsible for creating welcoming atmospheres within their church buildings and congregations. Societal changes have raised questions about pastors’ preparedness to do so, particularly regarding the LGBTQ community. This qualitative study interviewed lead pastors from the Potomac Ministry Network (PMN) of the Assemblies of God regarding their self-perceived preparedness to model sensitivity and minister to the LGBTQ community. It explored pastor training, experiences, perceptions, and needs to serve this population better. Interviews were transcribed, indexed, coded, and analyzed to identify themes and better understand the dynamics regarding this issue. Results are reported, including limitations, discussions, recommendations, and identified needed areas for future study
Preparing for Aging: Perspectives and Expectations of Appalachian Older Adults
Abstract
This research examines the perspectives Appalachian older adults have toward preparing for their own aging experience, and what factors encourage or discourage them from making decisions regarding their future wellbeing and living situations. Many older individuals in the Appalachian region face obstacles that prevent necessary long-term planning from occurring. These barriers include but are not limited to lack of knowledge, financial resources, a support system, accessibility, etc. Conversely, many elements have been shown to positively contribute to an adult\u27s likelihood of creating plans for later life, some of which are personal experience with providing ongoing living assistance to an older family member or close friend, witnessing successful aging and receiving hopeful messages about aging, having an optimistic mindset throughout life, and refusal to speak negatively about the age of oneself or others in either a joking or serious manner. For this study, I developed a survey comprised of ten open-ended questions that will be administered orally to adults ages 60 and older. Data collection is ongoing. I hypothesize that the results of this study will show that being occupied with providing care for others, fear of the future, and lack of knowledge about long-term planning will be identified as deterrents of preparing to age well for adults in the Appalachian region. It is proposed that by discussing the long-term planning, understanding what success personally means, and creating a mental picture of a bright and purposeful future, older adults can look forward to aging with the same satisfaction experienced in any other phase of life previously lived.

Potential Causes of Fast Food Clustering in Ohio
Abstract
This main purpose of this study was to see if different independent variables such as median household income, Black/African American population density, and higher total population density affect the amount and clustering of fast-food restaurants in the state of Ohio. This study was done to see if these variables caused certain areas around Ohio to have more availability to fast-food/unhealthy food options, so if further studies continue, people could possibly think of ways to combat potentially high volumes of fast-food restaurants in certain areas. To conduct this study, research was done on the internet and ArcGIS portals to find suitable data, such as Census data, USDA food data, and location data of major fast-food restaurants. Once all the data was collected, a software called ArcGIS Pro was used to create multiple maps representing each independent variable and visually compared them to a map representing major fast-food restaurants in Ohio. Multiple “Local Bivariate Relationship Analysis” tests were run to see if the variables being compared were statistically significant to one another. After running the analysis of the different variables, it was concluded the variables being studied were not statistically significant except total population density. Therefore, a higher fast-food density is not caused by a higher Black/African American population or lower median household income. Though a significant relationship between fast-food restaurants and total population density was found. This showed that a higher population typically led to more fast-food clustering
Eruptive Lentigines Confined to Resolving Psoriatic Plaques Following Treatment with Guselkumab
Eruptive lentigines in the area of resolving psoriatic plaques has been well documented in the literature following successful treatment with multiple therapies. This is historically associated with light treatment but has been expanded to include other therapies such as anti-tumor necrosis factor therapies and, more recently, some biologics5. Guselkumab (Tremfya) is an IgG1λ monoclonal antibody used in the treatment of plaque psoriasis with only one case of eruptive lentigines confined to resolving psoriatic plaques (ELRP) noted as a side effect. We present the second such case of ELRP associated with successful treatment of plaque psoriasis with Guselkumab, as it is important to document potential side effects of medications regardless of their severity
Long term substance abuse programs and COVID
Introduction: Access to behavioral health care has arisen as both a challenge and an opportunity as America deals with a health care landscape that has been significantly and probably permanently transformed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic increased the need for behavioral health services while creating new hurdles to care for those who already had disorders. The pandemic, however, also spurred innovation, leading to expanded tele-behavioral health treatments and other technological advancements. Also bringing Overdose death rates sky rocketing.
Methodology: This study utilized a literature review and a semi-structured interview. Four databases were used to collect 41 total sources. These sources were reviewed and reduced to 30 total sources that were used in the written research. Of these, 10 sources were used in the results section.
Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this research was to analyze the effects COVID, and long-term substance abuse treatment programs has had on patients for the cost of care, overdose rates, and medical complications such as death rate for SUD in the US with a goal to determine that COVID has changed the way SUD in United States has been treated by increasing awareness to overdose and mental health in communities, reducing the outcome such as costs and decreasing overdose death rates.
Results: The research showed that only community awareness has changed, and cost of care and overdose rates continue to rise since COVID and Long-term substance abuse.
Discussion/Conclusion: The rise of Narcan/Needle Exchanges for community awareness has increased. Overdose Rates are continuing to rise, and not much changes in cost of care have been discovered showing no positive correlation COVID and Long-term substance abuse
